Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Anand Krishnamoorthi
I'm actually writing on child actors in Tamil Cinema as my doctoral thesis. Thanks for reviewing my article and for your comments. I was actually a little confused because there isn't an IMDB equivalent to Indian cinema, though this person does have an IMDB record. I was looking for options for the Child Actor bit, another actor http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Charle who seems to have been awarded one has similarly not put in a source. While I understand that two wrongs don't make a right, I was hoping I could get a few pointers on how to clean this article up. Would removing all information based on the articles help?

Page Curation newsletter
Hey Stuartyeates. I'm dropping you a note because you used to (or still do!) patrol new pages. This is just to let you know that we've deployed and developed Page Curation, which augments and supersedes Special:NewPages - there are a lot of interesting new features :). There's some help documentation here if you want to familiarise yourself with the system and start using it. If you find any bugs or have requests for new features, let us know here. Thanks! Using the subject as a self-published source Further information: WP:SELFPUB
Living persons may publish material about themselves, such as through press releases or personal websites. Such material may be used as a source only if:
it is not unduly self-serving; it does not involve claims about third parties; it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject; there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity; the article is not based primarily on such sources.
The above is copied from the guidance page, so from this I do not see why I cannot use some of the articles I've written as references. They are from reliable sources, and they are not about myself. The ones I used that were written by me all had a short biography of me at the end, which is why I used those articles I've written in particular. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Acmote1 (talk • contribs) 11:48, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

AfD comments
Hi Stuart, and thanks for all your hard work on the wiki. I'm messaging you as I've noticed that you've been adding the same comment, or the same comment with minor variations, in many different AfDs. (A few recent examples: [1][2][3][4].) Based on the speed at which you are judging the AfDs, and that you are !voting "delete" in debates like this one (which seemed a clear enough keep to me that I was moved to comment), I worry that you are not making a thorough search of possible sources online before !voting. I think it would be a shame if admins at AfD started giving less weight to your comments because they thought that you might not be searching for sources thoroughly; would you consider slowing down and tailoring your comments more towards the individual discussions? And please let me know if you have any questions about this at all. Best regards — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 15:39, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- I'll happily admit that I was pretty much a lone voice on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Mobage. Sometimes I get it wrong, I'll be the first to admit that. I'll also admit to being a deletionist. However my voting stats show that I'm hardly a rabid on either count. Stuartyeates (talk) 19:11, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

Stop deleting my Zappa articles
You obviously know nothing about Frank Zappa if you think "I'm the Slime" isn't notable so maybe stop deleting Zappa related articles. It was well covered and quite popular. Maybe instead of proposing it be deleted expand on it. If you honestly think charting and awards are necessary to be an article you should focus on the countless amount of Led Zeppelin and Beatles songs that have 0 notability instead of proposing the deletion of a popular single of Zappa's. Don't even ask which Beatles songs aren't notable but instead check that every rarity they ever had has an article. I mean I even understood Advance Romance (though I got a barn star for it being so well written) but you also need to take into account that you've proven to me that you shouldn't be nominating Zappa related articles for deletion. --Mrmoustache14 (talk) 10:29, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi - As a courtesy I wanted to let you know I de- PRODed Gary Harris. He may or may not be pass GNG, but I think it is close enough that an AfD discussion is needed vs. PROD. Mashaka Dialect
"Possible hoax or mis-naming" arguement is speculation without convincing references. The http://www.ethnologue.com/show_language.asp?code=mck has its own challenges on unresearched ethnic groups in southeast Angola, as seen in coding separation of Mbunda of Kwilu/Kasai Congo DRC (Bandundu) and the rest of Angola, Namibia and Zambia, compare with http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Bunda_people. These are research challenges that should be positively followed than speculate. "Suggestion", why not establish contacts with southeast Angola authorities for confirmation of the dialect. http://www.ethnologue.com/ethno_docs/introduction.asp#alt_names check paragraph two under dialects. Big Finish stuff
Hello. As you note, a lot of these articles are in a poor state. We should probably make an effort to actually draw User:Cumbersnatch into discussion, rather than just leaving templates for him. He's basically never edited on a talk page, and I can see that if we just delete stuff he's been doing without him being part of the discussion, then he might become antagonistic.
Specifically with respect to The Prisoner's Dilemma, I can find an independent review here, which seems to be a credible site. It was almost certainly reviewed in Doctor Who Magazine, although I don't have the particular back issue in question. Would those, in your view, count as sufficient reliable sources for establishment of notability? Morwen - Talk 08:48, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
- To be honest, I think these should all be merged into Seventh Doctor audio dramas, I've never heard of the Doctor Who Magazine, but it sounds pretty niche to me. Stuartyeates (talk) 08:56, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
- That's a bit of a non-answer there. Niche is of course a matter of perspective, but it is a serious, well-respected publication that's been continuously published for over 30 years. If it's not a WP:RS, then we have a problem. Just FYI, there are at least two other professional magazines that publish reviews of Big Finish stuff in the UK, being SFX (magazine) and Starburst (magazine), although I'm not sure they do every single one and I don't take them myself. The sources are out there. Morwen - Talk 09:11, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Kitaro albums
Hi, I removed the prods from all the zillions of Kitaro albums that user:Oasis08 added because it seems to me that it would be better to simply improve the existing Kitarō discography instead by adding any pieces of information about the albums there and redirecting the album-article titles. I'm happy to work on this though it may take me through the weekend. I'll leave Oasis08 a note as well; it seems like they have the potential to be a good contributor, but need to be channeled a bit into making more appropriate articles. The cycle of prods & deletion messages clearly isn't working though. Thanks for all your work. -- phoebe / (talk to me) 19:08, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
Hi Stuartyeates, I don't understand why you(or somebody) deleted "An Ancient Journey" page. The album was nominated to Grammy Awards in 2003, and it is very difficult to be "actually nominated" to the award. I believe this album should be notable and shouldn't be redirecting the album-article title. If people would love to have more information about this album, I will add them. Please let me re-create this page again. Thank you very much.Oasis08 (talk) 22:39, 2 November 2012 (UTC) Oasis08
- They were deleted because there was no evidence on the page that they had received "received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject," as required by the WP:GNG. Stuartyeates (talk) 23:00, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Issues are being addressed and doing so is not proving difficult at all. Currently we're up to an 8x expansion, and at 2150 characters, the current version bears little resemblance to the unsourced 247 character stub you first nominated. Might you consider a withdrawal? You could even help me come up with a suitable DYK. :) Best, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 07:50, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

Body by VI CHallenge
Hi Stuart, Thanks for your contribution towards the above listed page. I recognize the concerns raised and I agree that a merge and redirect to the company page may be a logical solution given the similarity in theme . However, it appears like you've accidentally redirected the page of the company's founder and CEO Blake Mallen and NOT the disputed Body by Challenge. I've reverted the edit. I hope this was okay.
Regarding the suggested merge, how do I go about merging the key content in the current Body By Vi challenge with the Visalus page? I respect Wikipedia and the last thing I would want is to add anything considered promotional. It is why I submitted the article through the AFC screen process. Kind Regards Carlang (talk) 09:49, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- No problem. I've AfD'd Blake Mallen. Stuartyeates (talk) 18:45, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
Blake Mallen
Hi Stuart, I got notice of the AFd but I'm honestly not sure why the page is being considered for deletion since Blake Mallen is the CEO and coFOUNDER of Visalus. I apologize if my earlier redirect edit rubbed you the wrong way. You've got a lot more experience than I am in the rules of Wikipedia so could you please offer some advice on how I can correct the perceived problem. I submitted the article through the AFC process and it was reviewed and accepted barely three weeks ago. It was ranked as a stub because there wasn't enough information on the page and I've been working towards building on that. Calls for deletion seem rather quick. Again, I accept that you're a lot more experienced that I am and versed in Wikipedia's rules so any advice or suggestions that you might have towards improving the page will be really appreciated.
Kind Regards Carl — Preceding unsigned comment added by Carlang (talk • contribs) 09:05, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
- I AfD'd Blake Mallen because we have an article on ViSalus and the Blake Mallen article doesn't demonstrate any notabilty seperate from ViSalus. Stuartyeates (talk) 09:10, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
The article Agnes Addison has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No indication of notability
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 09:52, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- I have deprodded the article. Schwede66 10:31, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

- There are two main problems. (a) A complete lack of in depth coverage in independent sources, as required by the WP:GNG (more sources like this are needed) and (b) the fact that the programs section appears to be referenced to the organisations own website. Hello. You have a new message at User talk:Northamerica1000's talk page. Message added 10:34, 14 November 2012 (UTC).
S.J. Ramprashan
Dear Stuartyeates,
Recently I had erroneously deleted one of the articles I had created by the title "S.J. Ramprashan" in September 2012. This article was an approved wikipedia article up until November 6th 2012 when the article was deleted by myself (the creator of the article), entirely by accident. When I realized this mistake on November 8th, I copied and pasted the initial article not knowing how to recall the accidently deleted article. This is why there is another article by the same subject in your records. S.J. Ramprashan is a notable Sri Lankan radio broadcaster and is well known amongst the Tamil community and has made significant contributions in radio and mainstream broadcasting. I would really appreciate it if you would please reactivate this article which was deleted entirely by accident and then upon not knowing how to reverse what I had done I recreated the article again which is why you see 2 copies of the same article.
Thank you very much.

- I'm intrigued by this 'approved wikipedia article' status. Tell me more, since I've never heard of it. Stuartyeates (talk) 04:26, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Winifred Kathleen Joan Davin
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Winifred Kathleen Joan Davin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. '''RH''' (talk) 13:15, 16 November 2012 (UTC)

- This is about Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/ANU Research School of Asia & the Pacific? I've changed my email settings. I suggest you read WP:GNG and base your arguments on that. Stuartyeates (talk) 05:37, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

L.A. Percussion Rentals should not be merged
A merger is not the correct decision for this. Both Emil Richards has his own 50+ year career (much before selling some of his instruments to LA Percussion Rentals), and LA Percussion Rentals functioned industriously for the majority of time before acquiring some of Emil Richards' instruments (company began in 2005, Emil Richards instruments acquired in 2012).
Straight from http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Merging: Merging should be avoided if: 1. The resulting article is too long or "clunky" 2. The separate topics could be expanded into longer standalone (but cross-linked) articles 3. The topics are discrete subjects warranting their own articles, even though they might be short Alas, #2 and #3 apply to this issue. Take heed that this is not the correct way to go about these articles.
In addition, the notability of this company is not simply because "notable people have worked/performed or simply been there". And here's the part that's going to sound like an advertisement but it has to be said to convey the notability part: it's because L.A. Percussion Rentals is a major provider of percussion and backline for a plethora of well-known players, ensembles, bands, TV shows, and movies, b) arguably has one of the largest and most diverse percussion instrument collections in the United States. To lay people, that may not be that big of a deal. But to many musicians and those musically-inclined, it certainly is notable. Xylosmygame (talk) 20:04, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
- The consensus to emerge after more than a week of discussion was to merge. If you believe that there has been a procedural error, there is a review process at Wikipedia:Deletion review, but I advise you not to use it if you merely disagree with the outcome of the AfD. Stuartyeates (talk) 20:11, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
BTW, I just added another reference to the L.A. Percussion Rentals page for notability: http://www.pearldrum.com/news/concert-news-article.aspx?id=524 Xylosmygame (talk) 19:28, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

Are you aware of this guideline? In particular, are you aware of provision 5, "The person holds or has held a named chair appointment or "Distinguished Professor" appointment at a major institution of higher education and research"? I ask in connection with Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thomas E. Kauper and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Edward H. Cooper and some others. The guideline is quite clear that this is an alternative to the GNG adopted specifically because the GNG doesn't work well for academics--if the GNG were followed literally, all we'd need to do is show that any papers of someone had received substantial discussion in two of the citing papers, and most of the assistant professors would be notable. And I have suggested a few times that we could reasonably regard all assistant professors at research universities as notable. Most people disagree, so I don't press that interpretation. DGG ( talk ) 05:21, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
- I am aware of WP:PROF. These claims of holding chairs have to be supported by independent reliable sources. Stuartyeates (talk) 05:26, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
NIMBUS School
Hi, can you please provide some more information about your tags on the NIMBUS school page? Bill G. Evans (talk) 22:10, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- What is needed is in depth coverage in independent reliable sources, as per WP:GNG, which seem to be lacking right now. Stuartyeates (talk) 22:11, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- Understood. Thanks. Could you please work with me on that? Bill G. Evans (talk) 18:49, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
