Hi
[edit]Hello Zach! I haven't heard from you, since, let me see... April? How are you? And, semi-retired? Dude, don't tell me you're leaving Wikipedia :) You were my first collaborator and friend :) Novice7 (talk) 07:25, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, I'm good. Great to know you're not leaving :) Yeah, I saw you were working on The Girl Can Rock, keep up the work. I'd love to help too, but I'm kinda preoccupied with some pending projects lol. Enjoy the summer ;) Novice7 (talk) 05:22, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Grammy Awards Task Force Update
[edit]<font=3>I'd like to offer an update of the Grammy Awards task force. The task force was established 3 months ago with 26 featured lists and 8 good articles. Since then, the project has increased the number of featured lists to 39 and good articles to 10, a major accomplishment for a small task force in such a short period of time! There are currently 2 Grammy-related lists at FLC (Latin Grammy Award for Song of the Year and Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance), so be sure to offer feedback/comments if possible. Also, a Sources page has been set up to provide reliable sources for future use--this tool will be very helpful for finding references quickly. Keep up the great work, task force members! --Another Believer (Talk) 15:46, 7 July 2011 (UTC) |

This is my last comment on the subject since you gotta be rude about everything and not read the talk page or anything. Posted under notability:
- "In general, if the musician or ensemble is notable, and if the album in question has been mentioned in multiple reliable sources, then their officially released albums may have sufficient notability to have individual articles on Wikipedia. Unreleased material (including demos, mixtapes, bootlegs, promo-only recordings) are in general not notable; however, they may be notable if they have significant independent coverage in reliable sources. Album articles with little more than a track listing may be more appropriately merged into the artist's main article or discography article, space permitting." Image advice
[edit]Hi there. I just posted a message at your file mover request page. Since it is so important, I am copying it down here.
Do not under any circumstance use the move function to change a file's type (i.e. move Example.jpg to Example.png). Doing so may irreversibly damage the file.
No, I'm not exagerating. This is actually in the guideline page for file mover. Don't feel bad, or feel like I'm calling you out; most people don't know how fragile the file setup is on Wikipedia.
I endorsed your request, by the way. An admin should be along soon to handle it. Keep up the good work, Sven Manguard Wha? 05:16, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

You are introducing mistakes into my corrections
[edit]Hi Zach
I recently corrected two spelling errors in the entry John Lloyd (writer) which you then reverted.
The spelling is the use of the word "program". This is a US spelling. John Lloyd is English and as is permitted by the Wikipedia style book, the use of English spelling in a British entry is used. SO "program", which means only a computer program, while "programme" means radio and tv shows among other things. So in John Lloyd's entry the correct spelling is "programme". Wikipedia is not a uniquely North American property. Here isn England we use English while in your part of the world, you use a bastardised version. I think the clue is in the name of the language..."English"

I'm American. If I would go outside and ask people who she is downtown, 2 out of ten might know who she is. She's not that popular here. She's Madonna to the gays and "that one girl who sings that song, 'La, La, La'" to everyone else. I Help, When I Can. [12] 01:51, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- *Cough, cough* I'm American *Cough, cough* LOL. Fever was a big period for her here though. She was treated like an average star. She got a lot of her US fans she has now through that era. But on the bright side, with Aphrodite, she has seen her highest chart peaks in the US since Fever. I Help, When I Can. [12] 02:00, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
- No, the problem is that American Mainstream and Kylie Minogue have never really been on the same page. She made attempts that were more crafted towards the states (Body Language, X) but they never picked up steam. Nowadays, US Mainstream is starting to fall in line with England and is geared for more Dance and techno rather than R&B. This is the best time for Kylie to come in. But she has said and continues to say that she will not stop the trains from running in Europe just to make it to the US. That is one of her biggest faults. She has never geared a 100% promo attack. Oh well... It's hard out here for british artists. Leona was the first brit to Debut on top of US charts in 20 years. Adele is the only one doing anything in the US right now. I Help, When I Can. File mover
[edit]Congratulations on being assigned the FM user right. I see a reply on Fastily's talk page saying "I mean files that have like no spaces to the proper formatted titles they should be (with spaces and being proper to what it is)" Although, as a matter of principle it's best to leave all files with generally valid names at their locations, even if slightly better names may exist. So for example:
- File:TowerBridge'09.jpg should not be renamed to File:Tower_Bridge_2009.jpg only because the latter looks a bit better.
- File:Thiswouldbebetterwithspaces.jpg should not be renamed to File:This would be better with spaces.jpg.

Madonna/Christina Aguilera
[edit]I believe Madonna & Christina Aguilera should be labelled "singer-songwriters" instead of "recording artists" in the lead of their Wikipedia articles for a number of reasons. Many artists that only co-write their songs are labelled "singer-songwriters" in the lead of their articles.
Singer-songwriters don't have to write all or most of their songs all by themselves and they're not required to play any instrument. Quite some of them write all or most of their lyrics and contribute to melodies, chords, hooks, basslines etc. Co-writing their songs mean they share ownerships of their songs with one or more writers; those are their own songs as well.
I invite you to visit the discussion pages of the Madonna and the Christina Aguilera Wikipedia articles and weigh in. I'd edit the articles myself but it'll end in an edit war unless enough people share my point of view. Thank you very much. Israell (talk) 16:53, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Reverting edits
[edit]I noticed you reverted my grammar edits to Peacock_(song). Why? 68.48.245.53 (talk) 03:31, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
You are incorrect about period placement. Periods which are part of the quotation go inside the quotation mark, in both American and British styles. See Quotation_mark#Punctuation. You are right about single quotes; however, the quote I had edited was missing an opening quotation mark. 68.48.245.53 (talk) 04:04, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

- Yeah apparently "Wet" comes out August 29 in the UK. She's still promoting "Right There" in the US. I'm told it will be promoted for another two weeks because it is still rising in airplay. The aim is to try and make it a top-40 hit. Plans for the second single include her new collabo with Snoop Dogg or a remixed version of "Wet" featuring either Jay Sean or someone similar (don't quote me on this). ... Here I Am... :P is my baby. I've added about 25,000kb in the last few weeks. I thought it would never get released but finally its coming to fruition. I'm over the moon with how good the article has turned out. Thank you for the comments. — Lil_℧niquℇ №1 [talk] 21:54, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

[edit]I am not trying to cause problems for any page as I pointed out on his talk page I'm trying to fix what was misread. I don't know how that's causing problems. I started the Sparks Fly page and have been keeping a close eye on it I hardly add anything to it now-a-days cause there's things that are getting removed that has references and people adding things with no reference and I just noticed recently someone got away with putting the same picture of "The Story of Us" single on there and it's not okay to put a picture of "Speak Now" with Taylor in a red dress what the heck sense does that make? And yes I removed it cause the picture is exactly the same as the one above it only brighter. So please from now on don't accuse someone one of "causing problems" on pages when they are actually fixing mistakes that have been made. Thank you. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 05:37, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

- I love Taylor too which is why I'm trying to keep the stuff clean and right. I was on her website recently and I'm the one who found out about her new fragrance and I was the one who caught that she was credited as herself in Hannah Montana: The Movie. I literally paused the DVD and looked and saw it LOL! And I think they need to be protected as well I had to go and remove an edit by someone who didn't have a reference and I think someone whoever it is has a sock puppet on there. Oh and just so you know go to taylorswift.com watch the top part and you'll the "Sparks Fly" single cover and a link to itunes.com and that's why it's being added as it has cause it was posted like that on her official website. It's brighter but there's no reason for the same cover to be on there twice is there? - I also figured out you can do that what you mentioned on about edit summary it took me awhile but I did eventually figure that out. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 07:15, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- I'm talking about the Australian Singles and Canadian Hot 100 on the chart list cause there is no reference. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 07:04, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not gonna lie I'm about to remove the two chart listings at the top there's no references for them. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 06:59, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- It does! Mean Package I knew it they were released around the time the music videos were released. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 07:40, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Sparks Fly Chart it's at 49. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 07:42, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- You know that one for The Story of Us? http://www.amazon.com/TAYLOR-SWIFT-AUTHENTIC-SINGLE-SPEAK/dp/B0052YJ1BS/ref=sr_1_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1311234618&sr=1-1 here's one for "Mean". Also all digital downloads for singles from "Speak Now" need to be removed Itunes is no longer releasing them. I looked and if you search for them they are gone. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 07:52, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- I got the sample for "Sparks Fly added if you could check it out see how it looks and edit the summary that'd be great JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 09:48, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Also I don't know if the Genre I posted is right. She's considered country pop but "Sparks Fly" feels like a pop song JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 11:02, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Check it out it actually is correct now and looks a lot better. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 06:56, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Why are the Single digital download's gone?
[edit]Why'd she get rid of them? JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 08:04, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Hey
[edit]Sparks Fly just jumped to 39 on the chart. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 11:40, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Also the semi-protection for the page got declined twice. Sorry I tried to help :( JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 13:27, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- All her single digital downloads are gone. They were all moved back to the album. But the album is still available for digital download and you can by the tracks separately I still don't understand why she got rid of them on all but a few. I did some changes to "SF" to start getting it to look more like a wikipage including moving things where they belong and adding a sample. You seen it yet? And about the edit summary sometimes it was very small edits no one would notice so there was no point in saying them and the edit summary sometimes speaks for itself I've noticed. I added new section on it so there was no point in saying that when it was telling you for me. lol JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 17:55, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Hey I corrected the sample. It had the international version playing and I don't think any of them are suppose to do that. So it's now got the correct US version on it instead of the international one. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 12:28, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Genre: I think that's gonna have to end up being a discussion with the CD not being released as an official single it's unknown what it might be fore Sparks Fly I opened a discussion about it on talk page for us. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 18:03, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
A barnstar for you!
[edit]The Teamwork Barnstar | |
Hey we were doing some great teamwork on the Sparks Fly (song) page. We need to work together again. :) JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 15:30, 21 July 2011 (UTC) |
Re:
[edit]Actually if you look on the talk page I just posted a source. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 18:11, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Don't put it as a US one it's not. Check the currency symbol. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 18:18, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- It's the European one I looked up the currency symbol. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 18:20, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Here: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewArtistSeeAll?dkId=2&ids=159260351 This'll give you them all on the US store. I've noticed on pages you gotta actually give them credit for what country they belong to. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 18:32, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Hey Check this out. http://itunes.apple.com/be/artist/taylor-swift/id159260351?albumPage=1#albumPage There's two "Mine" singles and they are both the pop mix play the samples. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 18:37, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not trying to upset you man but I removed the one you posted of "Mine" I went to the link above and I clicked on them both and listened to their samples they're the pop mix twice the digital download for the Mine Single in the US is gone the only one I found was Change and it was on amazon.com JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 18:47, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Besides the Pop mix is already posted there's no point in posting it twice lol! JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 18:49, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Hey now I didn't do a bad job at finding that EP :(...I saw what you did with the link the I liked that. I posted the amazon link on Change though. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 18:53, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- I just noticed this that link above the ep's on there LOL! JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 18:54, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- What you mean? Okay I gotta ask a question why are the album's not allowed to show the formats? First they said it was promotion and it wasn't now they are claiming (internal link → music criticism) that don't make no sense if the singles are suppose to why can't the albums? JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 19:02, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Check what I wrote on the Speak Now talk page you'll understand. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 19:14, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

- Thanks man I went and requested that. Though I will say that I'm still worried about what I said regarding the Taylor Swift album. I've looked and the only one I can find on digital download is the bonus track one and I made a note of that on the page but I also made sure to note that the 11 track and deluxe edition are not. Also the deluxe edition for Speak Now was released for digital download just a few months ago that was just recent and it was announced on taylor official site. Taylor Swift SPEAK NOW (Deluxe Edition) V-Album Only at Target So you can see it yourself. That was released just a few months ago I tried to post it when it came out but no one would let me saying it was an advertisement but yet we can says it was released to Target but not scattertunes. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 19:30, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Oh never mind it's still on there hehe! JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 19:35, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- Do you think that should be mentioned or no? Also how's the Sparks Fly page looking? Any better? JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 19:43, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- I went to the Story of Us page to see what needed to be added and saw what it looked like and started working to make Sparks Fly look like it. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 19:49, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
- I'm sorry :( JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 20:03, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Taylor Swift - Sparks Fly.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Taylor Swift - Sparks Fly.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Q: Watch the Throne
[edit]Since no official singles have confirmed, according to [13] cited in this article, should "H•A•M" be removed from the singles template as well? Dan56 (talk) 23:58, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

- I think our edit-warier is back. Check the "Revision history of Sparks Fly (song)" and you'll see I had to remove it yet again and if you click here you'll see why I think it was them. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 12:03, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
- And if I reported them wrong can you fix it? JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 12:17, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Genre edit
[edit]I hope you don't mind me restoring Hip hop in the genre field to Watch the Throne. It's just that it seems pretty obvious with this album, since both artists are rappers and some departure from their usual style/genre would have been reported of. However, would this source be sufficient in citing "hip hop" in the infobox? Dan56 (talk) 04:34, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

- Blackberry23 posted the Australian Chart listing on "Sparks Fly" I went and asked them to post a reference for it but they haven't. Should I remove it since there's no reference? JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 03:33, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Hey
[edit]Can you help me check the "Sparks Fly" page that nuisance went and added stuff and I need help sorting through it to see if what they are putting is reliable as they tried that whole digital download thing again. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 01:54, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- Never mind, I got it. This reference here: http://tasteofcountry.com/taylor-swift-sparks-fly/ claims if you read very carefully that "Sparks Fly" falls somewhere between country and pop but I'm still not sure. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 03:21, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- I'm on the verge of giving up on that "Sparks Fly" page, that IP user won't stop and I still think it's a sockpuppet to the one we reported before but I've just about had it. They are driving me nuts with that digital download thing and I'm just about to let them have it and let them vandalize the page. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 02:10, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
Question about singles
[edit]Recently, another editor made edits to All I Want Is You (album), adding a song to the single template with its radio add date, and claims that in the US radio dates confirm a single release after the single's album has been released. Also on the article Watch the Throne, the same happened, in that a song was added as a single, Otis (song), and a purchase date was not cited. Which is true? What would confirm an official single? I'm pretty uncertain and would very much appreciate any help with this. Dan56 (talk) 03:43, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks very much. Dan56 (talk) 04:00, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

[edit]That users back and they are starting all over again on the Sparks Fly page. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 21:13, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
- I see that. Sorry I didn't reply sooner that user ticked me off so I got off here for awhile so I wouldn't go off on them. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 04:36, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah Ipodnano05 has given me some advice and I've been following it. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 04:41, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- Sould we just post Sparks Fly as Country pop I heard it is but it was on a "fan review". So I figured I should ask before I posted it. Also does anyone have anything for the composition section cause it's not moving anymore then what I added and that was just luck that I found it. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 05:02, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Hey hit the edit tab on the Sparks Fly page. I think you'll like what I added to the format section. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 05:19, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- I hope it's okay I didn't revert what you said but I did go and remove that (2010) again cause I've never seen it used on any other wikipage. LOL! JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 08:43, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
Hey
[edit]I commented at MuZemike's talk page regarding Lay It on Me. To be brief, I have made it a redirect for now. Until it charts somewhere sourceable other than iTunes, that's the best option. CycloneGU (talk) 01:33, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
- It actually has charted on Billboard. The Bubbling Under, but it's still Billboard and a chart, the article that the other person put up does not account for it, but the sandbox does. ℥nding·start 01:41, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
- That qualifies. I've left a note on MuZemike's page adding that he may delete my redirect, but as noted there just make sure it's in the sandbox version. If he doesn't move the article into place after killing the redirect, whichever of us sees the redlink first can move it into place. CycloneGU (talk) 01:59, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hi there, you might wanna check this out. Oz talk 02:38, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

Bot archive
[edit]Why did you revert this? You should always explain reverts. Also, the auto-archive doc states that consensus should be reached that auto-archiving is needed. On a talk page which is pretty much a couple of move discussions, I find auto-archiving completely unnecessary. —Andrewstalk 05:28, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
- You can always archive them later. Auto-archiving is meant to be used on very active talk pages (I would consider one post a week 'active'). —Andrewstalk 05:38, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Hey
[edit]I accepted your invitation and joined. I saw the investigation and I'm glad you and Oz didn't get in trouble for something you guys weren't doing. Did you see what I had said? LOL! JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 17:09, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
- Hey if you can can you find another reference for the release date of Sparks Fly? I don't think we're suppose to post pdf files as a reference. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 19:29, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
JLo Project
[edit]Hi E-S. There is an issue with what you have recently done regarding her project. You have to have a proposal for it, where editors can vote and see if they agree to have a WikiProject for the artist. Everyone has to do it, Mariah, Madonna, Rihanna, Beyonce, so I don't think its fair you just go and make one without it. It should be deleted. I doubt it would get approved.--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 20:24, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker)Apparently, the proposal was submitted months ago and there was no opposition. I Help, When I Can.[12] 20:28, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
- I see it now. I didn't think there was one since its been over four months. Can I ask why now? Only one support was made from then till now. I honestly don't think there was sufficient consensus for a project right now. Out of eight supports, 2 are not to join, and one is not active, aside from the oppose. I feel you could have waited for more editors to weigh in. I can tell you that I personally would probably have opposed the council, so I feel more editors didn't have a chance to express their opinions. Its fine, don't worry about it, I'm not going to try making a fuss about it. Good luck with it.--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 23:04, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well, remember, I kind of did oppose the Rihanna one and certainly did not join. I swayed at the end just because I didn't want to stand in the way of editors who truly want to better her articles. As for Gaga, its a big joke she ever got one IMO, and I assure you if I was aware of it when it was made, I would have slapped a big, bold oppose. As I said, its okay. Good luck with it! Its got a nice template ;)--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 23:27, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
