A tag has been placed on Draft:Untitled Joker sequel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

The sequel was deconfirmed by director Todd Phillips.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. A tag has been placed on Draft:David Clarinval, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Citations

[edit]

Hi, firstly thanks for your contributions to the various coronavirus articles. A small point, in cite templates, "first=" and "last=" are for the first (given) name and surname of the author. Where there is more than one author "first1=, last1=, first2=, last2= etc" are used. In some of your edits I notice you have "CNN" as last and the name(s) of the author(s) as first.[1], [2], [3]. CNN should be either website= or publisher=. If you have error messaging enabled, these cite anomolies throw up error messages on the page. [edit]

I renamed the article to something that was more descriptive and made more sense, you reverted it with not explanation, please explain your reasoning. Thanks--rogerd (talk) 02:30, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

My idea was that the page is pilot is more of a profession that distinguished him. The wording Tuskagee Airman is essentially air force people. Maybe my reasoning sucks. Please move them back if you wish. I won't say anything. Starzoner (talk) 02:38, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It's just that a pilot could be an airline pilot, a harbor pilot, etc. This is what he was famous for. Thanks --rogerd (talk) 03:40, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Major mistake

[edit]

My problem, I had read your user pages incorrectly, very wrong on my part to even intrude...

I am completely wrong in what I did, your userpage holding of the new articles is quite valid, and a way of improving or getting ready for main space. I was very wrong in my assumptions, and very sorry for any inconvenience I might have created to you or your edits in any way.

very sorry, keep up the good work! Just one thing - weevils project tags are beetles and insects together. Very sorry for any inconvenience. JarrahTree 01:30, 21 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

checking I now see where I misread the process -
Category:WikiProject Indonesia articles‎ 04:54 ‎Starzoner talk contribs‎ User talk:Starzoner/Trigonopterus ovatulus added to category
you need to either cancel/disable the category link when creating a user space item, or if you are putting it up in main space, you need to remove username. the issue was caused by having a linked category - so well worth understanding that you can use [[:Category:xxxx|{{PAGENAME}}]] until its moved to mainspace. JarrahTree 02:20, 21 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the information. I will work on the pages to disable the categories to enable them. Starzoner (talk) 02:53, 21 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Adding a taxonbar

[edit]

Wikidata items seem to exist for the Asperula species I've checked. So to add a taxonbar:

  • Go to Wikidata and search for the species name, e.g. "Asperula aristata".
  • Copy the "QID" for the entry, in this case "Q946987".
  • Edit the Wikipedia article for the species, in this case Asperula aristata, and add {{taxonbar|from=QID}} replacing "QID" with the required value, saving the page. I've already done this at Asperula aristata.
  • Given that you have turned on "Show hidden categories", you are now likely to see the category "Taxonbars desynced from Wikidata". This means that the Wikidata item is not linked to the English Wikipedia page. Go back to the Wikidata item, scroll to very near the bottom, and you will see a list of language codes for Wikipedias and the corresponding article names (not always the same). Choose "edit" and add "en" + the species name that is the title of the page in the English Wikipedia. Publish the edit. I've already done this at Asperula aristata (Q946987).
  • In the desktop version of the English Wikipedia, in our article you will now see a list of languages in the left hand column which link to the articles in all the other language wikipedias listed in the Wikidata item. You are likely to need to do a "null edit" (an edit with no changes) first to make the list appear.

It would be very helpful if you could go over your Asperula articles adding taxonbars where the Wikidata item exists. (You can create it if it doesn't, but it's a bit fiddly; I'll be glad to help if you want.) Peter coxhead (talk) 11:46, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is much helpful. I have activated it now. This hopefully could help a bit more. Thank you. I will go through the Asperula pages, although I have 0 experience with Wikidata. Starzoner (talk) 12:16, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

advice

[edit]

I often work here on topics like these, and my advice was asked for on my user tal kpage.

The rule is certainly that every individual species can have an article, and I would never want to challenge that . But remember that the GNG says that if there is not sufficient inormation for a separate article, a combination article is preferable. In similar situations, where all that is really possible is a list of species, and especially if, as here, they are all sourced to one single published paper-- it seems to be usual practice to do just that. Please do that instead. Usually we write that article under the name of the next higher biological category. DGG ( talk ) 05:46, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:DGG, Thank you for the advice. I'm not entirely sure what yo uare saying. A "combination article"? Does that mean that since the articles are sourced from one paper, it is better to put them all on one page? I'm willing to go through them and tag for deletion. (also, is it possible to move pages to draft space from userspace without leaving a redirect]]? Starzoner (talk) 19:34, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for creation

[edit]

Hi, if you want to Articles for creation to get an article reviewed that's fine, but if you are doing many similar articles just use it for a couple and once they pass you can then create the others directly in main space based on knowledge from the others. AfC does not have enough reviews as it is hence the 3600+ articles in a 4 month backlog. All the best KylieTastic (talk) 17:30, 22 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Harvey Weinstein filmography moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Harvey Weinstein filmography, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. buidhe 01:57, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Species articles

[edit]

Howdy Starzoner, two things:

  • You might want to make use of the speciesbox template instead of a written-out taxobox template for species articles. This is the preferred form because it allows for automated and cascading maintenance (e.g., if the genus was ever renamed, that would automatically reflect in all boxes), and it works for all genera that have a template entry. I have done that for e.g. Asperula apuana but it would save time for both you (because it's much less text) and other editors if you used it from the start. I noticed you seem to have a vast number Polygala species articles queued up in user space; Polygala is in the system, so you could make quick and easy boxes for the lot of them.
  • Your recent Trigonopterus articles all draw from the same publication, which very handily is licensed under a compatible CC-BY license - meaning that all the images are fair game for use on WP. If you feel so inclined, you might want to consider importing these and sprucing up the articles with them. I have done so for Trigonopterus moatensis, and it does admittedly take a bit of time to import & annotate the image for Commons. So, just a suggestion, because we all clearly have too much time on our hands :p

Thanks for your work & cheers! --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 18:59, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
