This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because the username, Spyros Kouvelis, matches the name of a well-known, living person.

If you are the person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You may choose to edit under a new username (see information below), but keep in mind that you are welcome to continue to edit under this username.

If you choose to keep your current username, please send an email to info-en@wikimedia.org including your real name and your Wikipedia username to receive instructions from our volunteer response team about account verification. Please do not send documentation without being requested to do so.

If you are not the person represented by this username, you are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our username policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you wish for your existing contributions to carry over under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" from their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a change of name request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use. Therefore, please check the list here to see if a name is taken prior to requesting a change of name.
Appeals: If, after reading the guide to appealing blocks you believe you were blocked in error, then you may appeal this block by adding {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice. ~Swarm~ {sting} 03:33, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Your account is now unblocked following verification of your identity. I am also leaving you with the standard message regarding editing topics with which you have a conflict of interest. — JJMC89(T·C) 06:04, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, Spyros Kouvelis. I'm sorry, you are not blocked for "protecting your information." you are blocked to protect Spyros Kouvelis from a possible impostor. To prove you are not an imposter, please follow the instructions in the block notice. Please send an email to info-en@wikimedia.org including your real name and your Wikipedia username to receive instructions. Thank you. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 12:10, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message. This is exaclty what I did (sent a messge to info-en@wikimedia.org with my name and Wikipedia name) and received a message to follow the process I have now followed to appeal for the block.
Also, I have tried to follow the instruction in the block notice to write in the Talk link, but I am not allowed to write on the Talk page as I am blocked.
The problem is that I AM Spyros Kouvelis, but I need to be given a way to prove it and be unblocked to manage my page.
Thank you very much for your support

On Friday 29 November at 09.16 am Greek time I sent a message to info-en@wikimedia.org saying:
"Hello, I am contacting you following the instructions as per the automated message I have received when I tried to edit my own Wiki page.
As many things have changed in my career and activities since this page was created, I need to have access to make changes.
The notification I received when I tried to edit the page mentions:
“If you are the person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You may choose to edit under a new username (see information below), but keep in mind that you are welcome to continue to edit under this username.
If you choose to keep your current username, please send an email to [at wikimedia.org] including your real name and your Wikipedia username to receive instructions from our volunteer response team about account verification. Please do not send documentation without being requested to do so.”
I prefer to keep my current username, to which only I have access and the login codes. My full name is Spyros (official birthname Spyridon) KOUVELIS, and my Wikipedia name is Spyros Kouvelis.
I will be happy to provide any additional information needed upon request.
Thank you for your assistance,
S. Kouvelis
I then got a reply on 30 November at 01:50 Greek time saying:
"Dear [my email],
Thank you for your email. Please note that queries relating to blocks are not handled by this inbox. However, the below information outlines the process for understanding your block, and then subsequently appealing it if you choose to.
To understand why you have been blocked, you should read all the information on your talk page <https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Special:MyTalk>. Messages left on this page often contain additional information on why you have been blocked and information on how to appeal your block.
If you wish to appeal the block, you should also read this guide: <https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Guide_to_appealing_blocks>, which contains detailed information on unblock requests.
When you are ready to submit your unblock request, you should follow the instructions on your talk page. In most cases, you can copy "{{unblock|1=Insert your reason to be unblocked here}}" to your talk page, replacing "Insert your reason to be unblocked here" with your unblock request.
If you cannot edit your talk page, you can follow the instructions at <https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Unblock_Ticket_Request_System> to request an unblock.
I hope this helps.
Yours sincerely,
Shaemous Flocks"
So, asking me to send again an email to info-enwikimedia.org including my real name and myWikipedia username to receive instructions is probably not what is needed since we have already been throuhg this process. Is there any other effective way we can address this issue please?
Thnak you for your cooperation,

What is needed is for the Foundation to confirm you're not an impostor. Emailing the foundation is the only way to prove you are who you say you are -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 15:06, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have taken the liberty of emailing the Foundation on your behalf. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 15:14, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is the answer I got.
"This inbox is not answered by the Foundation, but by Wikipedia volunteers (see WP:VRT).
I cannot disclose if another person has emailed us or not, due to Non-disclosure agreements in place for those answering these inboxes. However, based on the information located on the talk page you listed, it seems that the person who responded failed to notice it was a "Uw-ublock-wellknown" block and not for other reasons (other kinds of blocks are not handled through this inbox).
The specific user is welcome to respond again to their email ticket (if such exists) and point this error out."
So please email them again and point out that they do in fact handle these requests. Thanks. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 16:06, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Spyros Kouvelis. Please check your email; you've got mail!
It may take a few minutes from the time the email is sent for it to show up in your inbox. You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{You've got mail}} or {{ygm}} template.
