PK-35

Hi. I'm trying to fix some of the many links that go to PK-35 Vantaa, which you recently split, as the links should go to either the men's or women's team, of course. What confuses me is that there is both PK-35 Vantaa (women) and PK-35 (women). Apparently they were once the same team, but not anymore. So if an article about women's football simply links to Pallokerho-35, which of the two is meant? I hope you can help me with this. And if you want to fix some of the links yourself, this tool is a very easy way to do it. Lennart97 (talk) 14:03, 1 March 2021 (UTC)

Nevermind; all links have been fixed. Lennart97 (talk) 22:04, 1 March 2021 (UTC)

Happy Spring WHOCKEY editors!

After more than a year without international women’s ice hockey, we’re finally just a month away from the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship! The IIHF Worlds, in partnership with the Olympic Games, are the most watched annual women’s ice hockey tournaments in the world and spark more interest in the women’s game than any other events. We have a great opportunity to enrich the fan experience by offering up-to-date and informative articles about players, national teams, and other subjects related to the tournament.

The only women's players included in WP:NHOCKEY are players who have competed in the Top Division of the World Championship – meaning a bevy of player bios will get to be created in the next month. Hungary is set to make its Top Division debut and Denmark is returning to the Top Division for the first time since 1992. What an exciting time to be editing!

Articles related to the 2021 Worlds that are in need of creation, updates, or edits are collected at the National Teams & International Tournaments initiative page. Please add to the list if you find something in need of attention so we may collaborate and help one another in the coming weeks.

Did you know ...

WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NHOCKEY (which only includes players on women's national teams at the highest tier of IIHF competition)? Often times there is enough media coverage to meet WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. Be sure to tag the task force on the talk page of new articles with: {{WikiProject Women's sport|icehockey=yes}}

2020–21 Season in Women's Ice Hockey Leagues

What a wild ride the 2020–21 season has been! Many leagues were able to complete the season despite the need for alternations and amendments with respect to COVID-19. Hearty congratulations to all of the league champions – 2020–21 is definitely one for the history books.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Women's Japan Ice Hockey League requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.whockey.com/country/japan/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I'm working on a project called the Skateboarding Digital History Project, check it out and feel free to add any ideas you have! Shred on. --Wil540 art (talk) 19:03, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

@Wil540 art: Big thanks and awesome work with the SDHP. I'll admit, skateboarding is way out of my wheelhouse – most of my Wiki contributions are related to women's ice hockey, which is only marginally better represented than skateboarding on Wikipedia – but it was fun to try something new. As many ice hockey players also play roller hockey, I've previously done some work on the roller sports side of things and noticed that coverage of vert skating is pretty rough and most articles haven't been updated for many, many years. It seems like the sport has more or less been killed off and information about it is difficult to come by. All of which is a long way of saying, have you considered expanding the SDHP to include vert skaters? I realize just trying to improve skateboarding coverage is challenging enough already and there was traditionally a strained relationship between skaters and skateboarders but, as it doesn't seem like skating currently falls within the purvue of any WikiProject, I thought it couldn't hurt to ask. Either way, the SDHP is a really excellent initiative and I hope to be able to contribute in the future. – Spitzmauskc (talk) 20:51, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
@Spitzmauskc: Right on, that is epic you are deep in the hockey world! Vert skating is an interesting article. I do not know much about the inline skate world but I will ask a good friend who shreds it up on his blades. I'm sure there are people ripping on vert in inlines still out there! Vert skating is very well and alive in skateboarding. I don't plan to expand the scope of the SBDHP to include inlines; however, I welcome bladers and really anyone who wants edit wikipedia to come to any edit-a-thon I host. I hope to host skateboarding/action sports related edit-a-thons in the future, online and in person. You should attend! Thanks for the words of support. --Wil540 art (talk) 13:37, 16 August 2021 (UTC)

ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:48, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
