[edit]Planned partition of Asia Map
[edit]Hi Spesh -
Your map of the planned partition of Asia might have an error in the region around Afghanistan and Pakistan.
It shows this area as a spot of potential dispute between both Japan and Germany, when in fact it is a region which is unclaimed by both parties. Although now as I write this I realize you may have done that on purpose since neither party claimed it, hence they may end up claiming it later and at that point have a dispute. Was this your intention, or did you want to add an additional shaded colored area to denote it as an unclaimed region?

[edit]map suggestions
[edit]Hey Spesh, I like your map, and I would find it cool if you could draw similar maps for the subdivisions of Queen Maud Land and Marie Byrd Land. In the case of Queen Maud Land, the border circles of longitude are given in the German wikipedia article de:Dronning Maud Land. Greetings from Bavaria,--Ratzer (talk) 09:35, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
Now I have put a subdivisions table also in the English-language article Queen Maud Land.--Ratzer (talk) 09:52, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
Hello, Spesh531! I'm currently trying to create a vector map depicting the county results of the 2008 Democratic Party presidential primaries. As in 2016, the results for Alaska, Kansas and North Dakota aren't available by county, but by state house district (Alaska, North Dakota) and by state senate district (Kansas). Because of that, I generated vector maps of the districts in use at the time by downloading the shapefiles from Census.gov and then reprojecting and translating them to svg using mapshaper.org. However, when I tried to fit ND and KS into my map (My basis is File:Democratic presidential primaries results by county, 2004.svg) I noticed that the borders don't line up at all while the map of North Dakota you created in 2016 for File:Democratic Party presidential primaries results by county, 2016.svg fits perfectly. I have already tried simplifying the svg using Mapshaper and Inkscape, which doesn't result in the desired outcome, and manually moving the nodes at the border, which just distorts the shapes. So how did you do it at the time? Which step to the process am I missing? I would really appreciate your help, but keep in mind that I'm relatively new to map making (as you can probably tell). Thanks in advance.
Note: Before you object that county results for AK, KS and ND are included in File:Results of the 2008 Democratic primaries..png I wanted to mention that this file isn't properly sourced. I found the district data at rynerohla.com. --Kroisaurus (talk) 23:24, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Artsakh/NK map
[edit]Hey! I saw your new map [1] for the administrative divisions of Artsakh - great job! I wanted to ask you if you have access to any sources stating that the administrations for the Shahumyan and Kashatagh provinces have been abolished/absorbed by the other regions? Charektar and Aknaberd (Umudlu) were part of the Shahumyan Province and are still under Artsakh control, and Berdzor (Lachin), Aghavno (Zabux) and Sus of the Kashatagh Province are still under at least partial Artsakh control. AntonSamuel (talk) 12:20, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- @AntonSamuel: Regarding the three towns in the Lachin corridor, it was my understanding that they are entirely under control of Russian peacekeepers, not of Armenian, Artsakhi, nor Azerbaijani control. Regarding elsewhere, I had to do some digging in Artsakhi government publications. From the few publications they have in 2021, whenever there is analysis of each province (such as farms and # of livestock in farms or "Monuments and churches" per province), data for Hadrut, Shahumyan, and Kashatagh provinces are marked "-". Data exists for 2020, but is dashed out for 2021. This publication has dahses for Հադրութ/Hadrut, Շահումյան/Shahumyan, and Քաշաթաղ/Kashatagh. Meanwhile, in this Index, I found this publication on page 51 has data on "5.18.5. Հուշարձաններ և եկեղեցիներ"/"Monuments and churches" which shows data for the 3 aforementioned provinces in 2020, but not 2021. It can be assumed for official purposes, these three provinces are administratively dead for the time being. Spesh531(talk, contrib., ext.) 18:35, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- I see! If anything that would be at least an indication of Charketar and Aknaberd being absorbed into the Martakert Province then. Regarding the Lachin corridor, most of the residents have left and only a couple of hundred remain. Last year, during the implementation of the Armenian withdrawal from the areas around Lachin/Berdzor, I've saw reports of some of the Kashatagh administration remaining in Lachin/Berdzor, seemingly contiuning their work and of some Armenian residents remaining armed [2] [3], so there was indication that some Artsakh control (at least with regard to some parts of the civil administration) was still intact and it has been a bit unclear to what extent the Russian peacekeeping mission is providing services for the residents in the Lachin corridor. There was a debate about it on the Lachin talk page [4] last year. AntonSamuel (talk) 20:29, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Russian language map in Ukraine
[edit]Hey, @Spesh531~ I noticed that you created the Russian language map in Ukraine used on that respective article. I was wondering if you had a PDF of the 2001 census by any chance. I've tried accessing the census website, but the host seems down for some reason. Thank you! 148.8.132.8 (talk) 20:34, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
- I sadly do not have a PDF of the 2001 census. I "made" that map as a translation from the original map in Ukranian.Spesh531(talk, contrib., ext.) 00:06, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
