Hello, welcome to Wikipedia. Here are some useful links in case you haven't already found them:

If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!

Tip: you can sign your name with ~~~~

I am particularly interested in seeing a young homeschooler involved on Wikipedia. My wife was homeschooled, and we intend to do the same for our children. I intend for Wikipedia to be a significant tool in their education.

Pesticide naming conventions

[edit]

Hi. I noticed that you made an edit to the Pesticide article in which you changed some links. I'm not sure if you know this, but generally on Wikipedia we use the singular form of things like pesticides and make redirects for the plural forms of the names. Bonus Onus July 5, 2005 20:13 (UTC)

I wondered if this was any different than an acoustic electric. Feel free to discuss on the talk page if you have any input. Friday (talk) 18:50, 23 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review

[edit]

After Tregoweth responded to my peer review request on his talk page by cleaning up the article on The Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation, I am asking you to see whether this will qualify for featured status. Leave your comments in the peer review page; feel free to read my comments for its improvement.

I am asking you, because it's one of your favourite things from your past (as stated on your user page).

I expect a response from you in a good while, if I can. --Slgrandson 21:10, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Homeschooling project

[edit]

Hello, My name Master Scott Hall (you can call me Scott). I am relatively new contributing to Wikipedia, though I have been a user of it for some time. I am currently soliciting for interest in a Wikiproject that I have proposed on the subject of homeschooling. Before finding Wikipedia, my wife and I were seriously considering, but not quite convinced, to home educate our children.

After discovering the depth, scope, and long-term goals of Wikipedia, as well as the individuals driving it, I am convinced that WP has the potential to revolutionize homeschooling. I am also convinced that home education is the right choice for my family. I have, however, been somewhat discouraged by the oversight of home education in most of the education related projects on WP. There are many potential reasons for this discrepency, but I have resolved to try to do something about it.

Although I personally have very limited experience in building complex Wikiprojects, -templates, -portals, etc., I am confident that the right team can be assembled to tackle these issues. I would like to invite you to join this effort to make Wikipedia the resource for the home education of our children. If you are interested, please visits the temporary project page I have set up. Thank you --Master Scott Hall 00:08, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Update: The proposed project on Homeschooling was met with a very positive response. As a result, the project has been ugraded to an official WikiProject and can be found at WikiProject Alternative education. We have several experienced Wikipedians on board, as well as some new faces. We still need contributors with backgrounds in education, education theory and philosophy, and specific alternative education methods, such as homeschooling, charter schools, and E-learning from both teacher and student perspectives. There is also a lack of quality resources regarding anti-alternative education issues. If are interested in contributing or just have an interest, please visit the project page, or if you prefer, ask us a question. Thank you again, Master Scott Hall 18:55, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries

[edit]

Thanks, helpful comments. I developed it from stub. I will try harder on the wikification if no-one else does. Your further comments on 'over-categorisation' might be helpful, perhaps wkfn will improve this? The mecha/mechwarrior culture is extensive and the game is complex. I tried to give a mere flavour of this, thus I don't really agree about 'fancruft', maybe too many links.

From my knowledge of video-game culture, I don't think it would be correct to leave out what makes the game significant: Longevity/persistence (since 2002 is a long time for a modern game); active community (for a non-[MMORPG]), Microsoft connection, unusual elements of choice and strategy for a combat game etc. I hope you agree that an interactive, online game can't be discussed in the same way as a film.

Unspecified source for Image:7ziplogo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:7ziplogo.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:11, 5 March 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 18:11, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Novell Logo.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Novell Logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Images

[edit]

Hi there, I noticed a userbox you created about images and generally your stance on images. I agree completely, in fact I'm now be censored for viewing my opinion of BetacommandBot via a harmless userbox of my own. User:Spe88/GoTo.Main Page listed at Redirects for discussion

[edit]

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect User:Spe88/GoTo.Main Page. Since you had some involvement with the User:Spe88/GoTo.Main Page redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
