Lowlife song

[edit]

Hi. Nice work on the draft page. This will have to be retitled to 'Lowlife (Poppy song)' as the item you linked to the template is already used by another song, which will also have to be renamed. I think I can review and release the page if you think it's ready. You do have some original research in there, your theory about the devil portrayal and what it means - things like that have to be sourced so personal analysis will have to be removed. Thanks again. Randy Kryn (talk) 21:06, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

→== Lowlife Update ==

Ok I am going to remove that and then it will be ready for you. Smartalek33 (talk) 21:27, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You know what, the page can be just moved to Lowlife (Poppy song), although some edits will still have to be made (minor edits, and those outlined above). The criteria for quickly keeping the page is that it would likely survive a deletion process, which it would (especially if you can come up with a couple of more citations). I'll keep watch on it too. Randy Kryn (talk) 21:20, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ok thank you. Smartalek33 (talk) 21:27, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You're very welcome, and it's about time the song was given an article. You can sign your talk page edits with the four tildes below. I'm surprised nobody has come by with one of those welcome and "here's a guide" messages. Randy Kryn (talk) 21:23, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And please move it to main space, so your name is on there as creator. I could do it but in the years to come you can show your grandchildren that you created the page. I expect Poppy to "compete" for Madonna's title as Queen of Pop, although of course of a style of her own, and this early song of hers will be getting lots more attention at some point. Randy Kryn (talk) 22:39, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ok but I will need to wait a few days so I can make live.User:Smartalek33|Smartalek33]] (talk) 23:40, 9 December 2017 (UTC)

I could pop it up and credit you in the edit summary if you'd like. I'll put a couple minor edits into it before it goes live if that's okay. Randy Kryn (talk) 00:52, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Lowlife (Poppy song)

[edit]

Hi, I'm Babymissfortune. Smartalek33, thanks for creating Lowlife (Poppy song)!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please provide more references.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

A thank you

[edit]

For a proper thank you, and please share that little if at all, it'll be deleted at some point and I'm surprised it's lasted this long. Has been up since November 5 with just a little over 600 views, maybe 20 of those mine. Randy Kryn (talk) 17:16, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wondering if you missed this with the templates being added. Still up, over 700 views now. I see you're doing a Mars Argo page, thought of a Titanic Sinclair page? Randy Kryn (talk) 11:15, 14 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The Argo page should likely be renamed with a lower-case 's' as (singer), per Wikipedia style. I removed the Poppy mention in the infobox, not an associated act as she came along after Argo was gone. Randy Kryn (talk) 14:16, 14 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A page you started (Bleach Blonde Baby (song)) has been reviewed!

[edit]

Thanks for creating Bleach Blonde Baby (song), Smartalek33!

Wikipedia editor Galobtter just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

Does not appear to be independant notable. Unless there is something significant about the song and so it is covered in sources (newspapers etc) it doesn't need to have a seperate article

To reply, leave a comment on Galobtter's talk page.

Redirected

[edit]

The two song pages have already been redirected to the album pages. So either more cites and articles should be gathered to give evidence for sources or much of the already written pages could be merged into the album pages. Maybe a Poppy project would be in order at some point (many singers have individual projects on Wikipedia). As for now, I guess please keep an eye out for more sources and articles for both the songs and their videos. Nice work so far on the pages, which can still be found in the history at their redirect pages. Randy Kryn (talk) 11:33, 15 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Poppy Interweb.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Poppy Interweb.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 19:19, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Mars Argo for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Mars Argo is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mars Argo until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. RexxS (talk) 00:57, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Mars Argo Photo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mars Argo Photo.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 13:44, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source/license for File:Iggy Azalea - Survive the Summer EP.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Iggy Azalea - Survive the Summer EP.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:08, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, Smartalek33. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:MarsArgoImage2009.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:MarsArgoImage2009.png, which you've attributed to https://noisey.vice.com/en_uk/article/6v7jdr/mars-argo-are-done-being-cool. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:35, 12 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, introducing inappropriate pages, such as Do not delete this article, is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Under section G3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, the page has been nominated for deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Drafts and mainspace articles

[edit]

Please do not copy other editors' content from draft articles to mainspace articles, as you did with Draft:In My Defense to In My Defense. This is a problem because you have not attributed the edits of the IP editor who created the page. You are allowed to copy your own content from a draft to mainspace if you are the sole author, but typically if you've created something at a draft, you should wait for it to be approved if you have indeed submitted it for review. Please see and read WP:Drafts. Thank you. Ss112 04:32, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please stop adding unsourced release dates and genres to music articles. You have claimed on at least two articles now that Azealia Banks will release both Business & Pleasure and Fantasea II: The Second Wave in summer 2019. Yes, we've all heard about 10 release dates for her upcoming projects by this point. If she said this, please cite it or leave it out. Thank you. Ss112 04:46, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Hegarty Maths, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Hello, Smartalek33. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Technology is a Dead Bird".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! JMHamo (talk) 17:54, 29 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on October 44th requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article does not exist or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Colin Hegarty and Hegarty Maths Nerge proposal

[edit]

Hello! I was thinking of merging Draft:Colin Hegarty into Hegarty Maths and I would be very interested to get your opinion on this. A lot of the content on these pages overlap and Hegarty Maths is a more prominent subject. We could add a section describing Colin Hegarty's life outside of Hegarty Maths or something similar. I woud be happy to discuss this on the talk page (Talk:Hegarty Maths). Golem08 (talk) 13:34, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In future, do not update peaks before the chart itself has updated. You will be reverted.

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Kings & Queens (Ava Max song), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Ss112 16:49, 10 April 2020 (UTC) Sorry, just didn't really know how to cite the source (the chart data loaded early/was a different source and couldn't find the citation to change it). smartalek22 (talk) 17:09, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Smartalek33

Thank you for creating Bloodmoney.

User:Doomsdayer520, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

Thanks for your new article on "Bloodmoney" by Poppy. Note that per WP:NSONG more evidence may be needed that the song made some sort of impact, beyond simply being released. If this matter is not addressed, future editors could call for the article to be deleted.

To reply, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Doomsdayer520}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ .

A tag has been placed on File:Marina Press Image.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://press.atlanticrecords.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Marina-Press-Image-4-Zoey-Grossman.jpg. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 14:31, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Draftifying articles

[edit]

Hello, Smartalek33,

If you move articles to Draft space, could you please tag the original pages for CSD R2 deletion? Cross-space redirects from main space are not allowed and it's easiest if the editor moving the pages tags them for deletion so that admins can take care of them. It's easy if you use Twinkle. Thanks very much! Liz Read! Talk! 01:33, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, Smartalek33. This is a bot-delivered message letting you know that Draft:Using You (Mars Argo song), a page you created, has not been edited in at least 5 months. Drafts that have not been edited for six months may be deleted, so if you wish to retain the page, please edit it again or request that it be moved to your userspace.

If the page has already been deleted, you can request it be undeleted so you can continue working on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. FireflyBot (talk) 16:03, 30 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Smartalek33. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Using You".
