Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Niko Omilana
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Niko Omilana requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://sidemen.fandom.com/wiki/Niko_Omilana. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 1AmNobody24 (talk) 19:12, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

Please make sure that any Creative Commons content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 19:27, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

Niko Omilana
[edit]Notability isn't established by saying that he did stuff, it's established by showing that he passes WP:GNG on a significant volume and depth of reliable source coverage and analysis about the stuff he did in media independent of himself. That is, you don't make a person notable as a YouTuber by sourcing his YouTube videos to themselves or their IMDb profiles as proof that they exist, you make a person notable as a YouTuber by sourcing his YouTube videos to media coverage about the videos as proof that they garnered media coverage. You don't make a person notable for being featured in other people's YouTube videos by sourcing those videos to themselves as verification that the videos exist, you make a person notable for being featured in other people's YouTube videos by sourcing those videos to evidence that media consider "Niko Omilana featured in Sidemen videos" to be important enough to write about and analyze as news.
What you haven't shown is any evidence of GNG-worthy reliable source coverage about Niko Omilana. Out of 35 footnotes, the overwhelming majority of them are primary sources (YouTube video sourced to itself or IMDB, "staff" profiles on the self-published websites of organizations he's directly affiliated with, etc.) or unreliable sources (CORQ, Social Blade) that don't contribute any GNG points at all, and what's left for proper GNG-worthy media coverage still isn't doing very much: there are media sources that don't mention Omilana at all and are there solely to verify a fact that's completely tangential to the question of whether Omilana is notable or not, there are sources that briefly mention Omilana's name without being about him in any meaningful sense, and there are sources that are "about" him in the context of his candidacy in an election he didn't win and thus doesn't pass WP:NPOL for. But what you haven't shown is any evidence of GNG-building media coverage in properly reliable sources about his YouTube work, which is what you would have to show to make him notable as a YouTuber. Again, the notability test is not "his YouTube work exists", it's "media have written independent third-party content about his YouTube work as independent third-party analysis of its significance", and you haven't shown any evidence of that.
Also, the draft has not been proposed for deletion at all, and certainly not by me — all I did was comment on the draft. So you respond to this not by arguing with me on my talk page, but by improving the draft with GNG-worthy sources. Bearcat (talk) 12:53, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
- Not once have I tried to argue with you. In my message to you on your talk page, I simply said what has changed since February to make recreation of a new article warranted as asked for in your comment. Additionally in my message I elaborate by saying "Whilst the draft still needs expansion before being submitted, the draft shouldn't be deleted." Letting you know that I understand additional sources are still needed. In regards to the draft being proposed for deletion, it was proposed here, not by you, but the last line is still false. Silverdashmax (talk) 19:44, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
- That proposal was in March, and failed, meaning it isn't still on the table. Bearcat (talk) 12:56, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
