Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from Nettrom (talk), SuggestBot's caretaker.

Cathy Freeman
You somehow seem to think the lede is too short, or misses something. I agree the order of lede is convoluted . . . and another editor quoting WP:MOS made it that way, forcing the odd order of facts. But what more about her needs to be in the lede? Her other accomplishments pale to an Olympic gold medal. That is her prime source of notoriety. Her national hero status takes too much explanation, as does her status as #6 all time. Further, if you really have something you think is seriously missing; instead of spending your time placing tags that deface the look of the article, reverting edits and writing talk page messages, why don't you just add what you think is missing? Be bold. Trackinfo (talk) 01:10, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi Shiftchange, I hope this is the right way to communicate - only been here for 3 days :) Point noted about the lead section. I'll expand that later today. Suggestion re your input on Great Keppel Island; with new content in the previous paragraph, it could be seen as repititious - perhaps move the citation up to my paragraph or tweak the words a little to suit? Sorry about the mixup removing content yesterday. Still learning the ropes and no offence intended. I want this to be a comprehensive page along with all the others I'm creating for towns in the region, and have a lot of content coming yet.XavierT3000 (talk) 05:26, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
Greetings! A stub template or category which you created has been nominated for renaming or deletion at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. List of rail accidents (2010–2019)
Your edit to List of rail accidents (2010–2019) has been reverted because the date in the cited reference clearly states 26 December, not 27 December. Considering that you are in Australia (where the incident happened) if you have other reference(s) that support the 27 December date, we would be interested in them. I spent some time in the Brisbane area (Eight Mile Plains) about ten years ago ... it's a great place. Thanks. Truthanado (talk) 15:49, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

Kimberley, WA was not named after the Kimberley Diamond Fields
Hello Shiftchange, You may be interested in a page you worked on in 2009 Kimberley (Western Australia) and an addition you made which is registered now as being disputed. [disputed – discuss] - I wanted to add this to the talk page for discussion before I make changes, and wanted to let you know. The sentences in question you have been led to by what I believe must be an unreliable source, so not your fault I know. As SatuSuro says, Happy Australia Day!

South West Queensland
Hi Shiftchange. I noticed your request for assistance on OrderinChaos' talk for the Southwest Qld region page. The ABS has excellent stats for regions in their National Regional Profile series including up-to-date estimates of population. Just an observation; the definition of the boundaries of Southwest Qld differs between the ABS and the Qld government. Note also that the map image in the infobox appears to conform to the ABS definition and not the Qld one and thus the text is currently not supported by the image. I assume other differences may exist throughout other regions. An approach might be to use the image and the good stats from the ABS and note the different definitions by other parties? Bleakcomb (talk) 23:43, 26 January 2012 (UTC) Oops. General confusion. Missed change from Roma to Maranoa Region. Bleakcomb (talk) 00:36, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Lead too short
Hi Shiftchange, I'm just reviewing articles that have this tag, in the main part of the cases the tag was correct, but in many cases the tags were put three-four years ago and the problem was addressed, in other cases I simply think the lead is adequate in length and contents ( the "summarize the most important points covered in an article" requirement), the length section in WP:LEAD is only a suggestion (cit.), not an absolute rule (cit.) any case could and should be reviewed for itself. So I will continue my work, you're free to review my edits and revert them. My best, Cavarrone (talk) 09:38, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

CyanGardevoir (used EDIT!) 12:33, 1 July 2012 (UTC)File permission problem with File:McArthur River Borraloola.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:McArthur River Borraloola.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. Your recent comments about MICROMINE
Hi,
You recently said to me "Can you imagine if we allowed companies, organisations or whoever to link to their website from articles when they wanted? It wouldn't work. It would create a mess. Please see our policy on external links. - 07:01, 22 November 2012 (UTC)"
and the answer is: I don't need to imagine as there are plenty of companies that seem to have done this but for some reason people decided to jump all over my articles.
Check this one out for instance http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Modular_Mining_Systems#cite_note-Feary-1
The first reference is supposed to backup their claim that "Modular is the pioneer and industry leader in fleet management technology in mining." and the link doesn't even work and is a link to their own website.
So yes, it is easily imaginable and so in conclusion wikipedia must be a complete and utter mess as you said 'It would create a mess.'
So please explain to me how my article differs in any way to the one posted above? Do they donate to Wikipedia?
Thanks and I look forward to your explanation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cconey (talk • contribs) 00:34, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
Reply: Hi, Thanks for your speedy reply. I do understand, but you must see things from my point of view, I post something and then it feels like i'm a corpse in the desert surrounded by vultures all too keen to punish.
In regards to saying that someone else has it and it isn't fair is completely ok with all the accusations that have been thrown my way. Particularly when the other page is doing exactly what I have been put to the slaughter for.
So because someone slipped through the cracks it's NOT ok to say so? If the policy was violated with my article then shouldn't you be thanking me for finding other articles that are violating the 'wiki code'? Especially as having this article on the wiki tells other people (like myself) that it is ok to post these kind of articles? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cconey (talk • contribs) 01:30, 23 November 2012 (UTC)

For now, I've boldly unhidden it and marked it as resolved, on the assumption that that's what you meant to do. Or am I missing something? Hand-coding
Hey all :).
I'm dropping you a note because you've been involved in dealing with feedback from the Article Feedback Tool. To get a better handle on the overall quality of comments now that the tool has become a more established part of the reader experience, we're undertaking a round of hand coding - basically, taking a sample of feedback and marking each piece as inappropriate, helpful, so on - and would like anyone interested in improving the tool to participate :).
You can code as many or as few pieces of feedback as you want: this page should explain how to use the system, and there is a demo here. Once you're comfortable with the task, just drop me an email at okeyeswikimedia.org and I'll set you up with an account :).
If you'd like to chat with us about the research, or want live tutoring on the software, there will be an office hours session on Monday 17 December at 23:00 UTC in #wikimedia-office connect. Hope to see some of you there! Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 23:31, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi Shiftchange,
I see I have been messing. with 'your' page here! I got a little confused, as apparently after you started the page in February 2012 as "Primary Industries and Fisheries" the Depts. name was changed by 29 May, when 114.77.160.236 (talk · contribs) made a helpful edit here, though they were unable to 'change' the pages name. Unfortunately, in November 2012 someone edited the lead text back to the incorrect tile. (AGF, obviously following the page name!).
And that is where I came into the picture, then we e/c'd and I changed the infobox name and at another 4 places in the text, here. If possible, please check my edit to see I have been consistent/ missed any ocurrences that need changing, like in the Refs section. Is there any actual source for the change of name?, or is this the creation/split off of an entire Deparment?
Another issue is that any old lks to the Dept website on WP may need updating, though the "dpi.qld" URLs are currently re-directing to "daff.qld", the even older "fisheries.qld" are not. Regards, 220 of Borg 06:45, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
