Merger proposal
[edit]I propose that Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre (MRRC) and Silverwater Women's Correctional Centre (SWCC) be merged into Silverwater Correctional Complex (SCC). I think that the content in the MRRC and SWCC articles can easily be explained in the context of the SCC, and that the two articles are of a reasonable size that the merging will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. Rangasyd (talk) 05:59, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
- I'm on the fence about it. There're still four facilities, albeit co-located, and while they fit reasonably into the one article, the article length (especially with a full merge) is getting to the point where a summary style breakout would be required with any expansion. I'd at a minimum want to ensure that none of the content in the current articles was lost in a merging into the larger one. The Drover's Wife (talk) 07:45, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
- I'm proposing that the enitre content on each of the two facilities that have pages (the other two don't) be merged in full into the Complex page. I don't believe that the Complex page is getting too long. It's layout could improved a little. Of course, if we retained the status quo, that would then lend itself to establishing pages for the Silverwater Correctional Centre and the Dawn de Loas Correctional Centre. Given the whole Complex's general lack of notability, in relative terms, when people refer to "Silverwater gaol", they just think of one complex, not four centres. I strongly oppose merger of Mulawa with the MRRC. The men's and women's prisons at Silverwater are quite separate with their own histories, despite their close proximity. The content of Mulawa needs expanding to cover the heritage buildings on the site as well as more recent developments.Iantomferry (talk) 00:56, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
- Merge: I agree with Rangasyd that the complex is commonly recognised as one entity, "Silverwater gaol". Keeping a separate section for the Women's Correctional Centre, ensuring that its a full-content merge, doesn't lead to a loss of distinct identitity nor prevent future expansion.
