Warning vandals
Hi! I've warned the editor at Gregorio del Pilar for vandalism, but in the future, make sure you warn vandalism (either through the use of templates or with a talk page message), as they're typically a prerequisite to administrator intervention with blocks. Here's the bit of policy, with the templates. Apologies if you already knew this and I just beat you to the punch warning them! Happy editing! :) Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 07:27, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
A kitten for you!
Glad to see you around reverting vandals in recent changes! Hope you're enjoying anti-vandalism so far! :)
Schrödinger's jellyfish ✉ 01:56, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kitten! I am, it's strangely enjoyable, and RedWarn is incredily useful, thanks for letting me know about it! :) Shaws username (talk) 02:19, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
Double warns
Hi there, thanks for helping to patrol recent changes. Just a quick reminder to prevent this happening again, it's best to leave the warning to whomever reverted the edit of the user, otherwise we end up double warning people for the same thing, which is confusing for everyone. Obviously in a case where a RC patroller isn't warning people, it's best to fill in for them and advise them on their talk page, but otherwise, best to avoid the dogpile :) Synorem (talk) 03:08, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
- I do try not to, I don't know if you use RedWarn, reverting an edit with it brings up the warning options automatically. The majority of the time it will stop reverting if someone else already has, but a few times it acts as if the other revert hasn't happened (they probably go throught at similar times, I'm not certain) and so it appears like it's gone through properly and I should warn, but in reality someone else has done it all already and I just need to take a moment to refresh the page, check if it really was me, and then warn.
- In short, yes I should take the time to check becuase the person getting warned obviously doesn't know how it all happened, thanks for your message! :) Shaws username (talk) 03:23, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
2024 Leagues Cup
Hello Shaws username,
Sorry about the edits. I was trying to add the group tables in but was not able to get them to be displayed successfully. If you can do that, it would be nice. Thank you and have a great day. 47.153.148.108 (talk) 04:58, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
Insurrection Act
Hello! Just to notify you, I removed it because I created a full article on every invocation of the act. I'll explain in the summary this time. Personisinsterest (talk) 00:47, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
- Ahh ok sorry, that makes perfect sense. Thanks! Shaws username (talk) 00:56, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
Cats and the Internet
You reverted my edit that said in the edit summary. I added some humor and puns/jokes. Even though it wasn't ruining the article at all and I wasn't vandalizing the article nor trying to ruin it one bit. I was just make it funny and improving it. 68.8.63.65 (talk) 68.8.63.65 (talk) 07:25, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
- I did, unfortunately Wikipedia is designed to be an encyclopedia and jokes make it harder for people who want to read information to understand it. WP:Goodfaith is important, and to be clear, I don't think you did anything with the intention of vandalizing a page, but Wikipedia:Humor has a guide for it in articles.
- I've seen a fair amount of people vandalizing pages for the sake of it and thinking that that's humor. It's a lot nicer to find someone who's put things in good faith that made me chuckle. Shaws username (talk) 07:48, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
- Also, Wikipedia:List of jokes about Wikipedia happily exists as a page designed for jokes. Shaws username (talk) 07:51, 3 February 2024 (UTC)
Answer
Hello, you seem to be first, as it's my first day knowing SWViewer. My native wiki is pl-wiki. There should probably an option to auto-warn as I know that program, so I'll just quickly turn it on. Thank you very much for letting me know that.
I will quickly make a redirection for my Polish discussion page from that English one, just to have it unified.
Thanks for letting me know once again and have a good day! Karol739 (talk) 17:53, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- You're welcome, and have a good day too! Shaws username (talk) 17:58, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
tag from Bodrigan, which you proposed for deletion. Please see article TALK.... If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}}

I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
tag from Bodwannick, which you proposed for deletion. (I've added a source and more are available). If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}}

I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
tag from Chynhale, which you proposed for deletion. (OS has this as a hamlet so may have presumed notability under WP:NPLACE. Needs further checking.). If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}}
back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! Rupples (talk) 08:18, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
Hi, Shaws username. Wanted to let you know that this article is being repurposed. The hamlet designation from Ordnance Survey put in as a source is for a different Chynale near Helston, which has a former Methodist Chapel and school, so there may be something to write about. The other location near Callestick, as you said, appears to be just a farm with barn conversions/holiday cottages, so your Prod has been beneficial in directing attention to this. Cheers. - That's good, thanks for letting me know! Shaws username . talk . 11:53, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
tag from Tregoose, which you proposed for deletion. (Nationally listed farmhouse building. Presumed notability see WP:GEOFEAT.). If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}}

Hi there, I tried reasoning with this editor here [1], but I did not notice that you had already warned them and judging by their edit here [2] there's no point in trying to reason with them. If this continues please feel free to take this to ANI/AIV. Good day! Bingobro (Chat) 11:08, 17 February 2024 (UTC)
Question
Hi, I'm writing because of your post on my discussion page. How can I set auto-warning in SWViewer? Regards, Karol739 (talk) 21:41, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hey, I've never used it so I might be wrong (if I am, sorry) the manual for it says you can use "Rollback with summary" to give warnings once they've been set up on your configs page. It looks like they might come pre-installed but I'm not sure. I hope that helps! Shaws username . talk . 21:52, 24 February 2024 (UTC)

Rollback
Hi, I've seen you around RecentChanges, just like the user above. Thanks for your work! Anyway, I was wondering if you were interested in applying for rollback access. It would speed up RedWarn slightly, as well as give you access to some extra tools (e.g. Huggle, AntiVandal). If you like, you can make a request at WP:PERM/R; I believe you meet the criteria (experience, understanding the vandalism policy, consistently giving warnings), so you would probably get the permission smoothly. ⟲ Three Sixty! Talk? Work. 03:31, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! And thanks for your suggestion! I've had a look at Huggle before and I'd like to try it so I'll make a request over there. Shaws username . talk . 03:59, 12 March 2024 (UTC)

Rollback
Hi Shaws username. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:
- Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or Ultraviolet. It just adds a [Rollback] button next to a page's latest live revision - that's all. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the rights will be revoked.
- Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask!
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Fastily 00:04, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
A bit of help please
Hello! I have 3 little questions for you. First, I was translating an article to English and it said that I can't because I don't have permission to create an article. What do I do? Secondly, I find many projects with the Advertisement or Soapbox tag but I can't find any ad-like things about them. Am I missing something? And lastly, how did you find me?@Shaws username --[[User:Cool hat6| Cool hat6]] (talk) 15:56, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Hello! While I can't help with the third question, I can help out with the second question, but I'll need links to the article(s) in question, and the first question. For the first question, you need to be auto confirmed to create articles, which requires 10 edits and an account that is four days old. I see you already meet the edit threshold, so you will just need to wait about 2 more days to be able to create an article. Happy editing! GrayStorm(Talk|Contributions) 16:03, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- For your seond question, sometimes people fix the issues but just forget to remove the tags, like at Abaji where more souces had been added, or Frères des Hommes where the advertising sounding material had been removed, but no one removed the one source or advertisment tags until you did.
- To answer your third question, I spent a lot of time looking at the recent changes feed and some of your edits showed up there as a newer account removing sources (I made a mistake and reverted your edit to Karongi District becuase I saw you'd removed sources, and then restored it when I realised that the sources you'd removed were from an unreliable source (sorry and thank you for taking them out)) and then I added the welcome message to your talk page.
- From what I know of creating article, GrayStorm is right about needing to be autoconfirmed to directly create articles, although I think you can create one through the Wikipedia:Articles for creation process. (If you're translating from a Wiki in another languge you might also want to read WP:TFOLWP to avoid running into any copyright issues) Shaws username . talk . 16:26, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
Response
Thanks a lot, it really gives. I do enjoy it here nearly as much as rollbacking on pl wiki, maybe even more :) Karol739 (talk) 21:24, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thats good to hear! If you haven't heard of them, you might like RedWarn or Twinkle, they help to automate the process of placing edit warnings, They give you a nice menu to pick from and you don't need to remember each of the templates as much. :) Shaws username . talk . 22:14, 14 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, I've discovered an option like that in SWViewer, I also use occassionally UltraViolet, as Twinkle doesn't work on my computer. Karol739 (talk) 22:18, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

The more you revert that swine, the more we have to clean up, and the more satisfaction they have from their vandalism. OverlordQ, AlphaBetaGamma, you too. And the guy is probably not done yet with his BLP violations. Just leave it be, and report them to AIV immediately. Just say that it's the Kentucky/Ohio racist and woman hater. Question on why a page isn't generating.
I am curious on why the page Director of Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security isn't generating on other pages. JoeK2033 (talk) 00:24, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the page isn't generating on other pages? If you could clarify I'll to try and help but I'm not sure how helpful I'll be, I'm not great at the technical side of things (the help desk or teahouse will probably have people who'll be able to help you more but I'm happy to try) Shaws username . talk . 20:28, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
"Former" matters
Please read the lede paragraphs before adding short descriptions. In particular, there is a big difference between something described as "former" and something current and that distinction must be preserved in the short description!— Preceding unsigned comment added by Kerry Raymond (talk • contribs) 06:58, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
- WP:SDAVOID specifically advises not using time-specific adjectives (which is why I've avoided using them) That said you have have a point, describing something as a "heritage listed post office" does give the implication that that's what it still does, I'll go back and have a look at pages I've done and change them to "heritage listed site" to make it clearer, and add dates for administrative areas. Rollback issue
Hi, in this edit you have rolled back without any edit summary ten separate and rather careful drafting amendments I made to Wikipedia:Short description. It doesn’t seem from your editing history that you’d deliberately misuse rollback rights, and I imagine this was just a mistake? MichaelMaggs (talk) 09:43, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, yes it was a mistake. I think I must have accidentally clicked the button for it and not noticed. (I do quite like your amendments to it) Shaws username . talk . 10:52, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
