Hi Sarah, thanks for your return message, I appreciate your words of encouragement. Footy trip was good - game was exciting with 35 goals kicked. In relation to self-references what I did was to go down the list and remove the self reference for 70% of article inclusion as a reference, with a suuitbale message at the edit summary, then leave a discussion point on the talk page. I also removed totally 3 links which were simply spam links in the content of the article. As you know I informed Tirin. He took it politely (probably even well) and I note that he has gone through to make discussion comments. Examples are Talk:Sydney Push, Talk:Friendly society, Talk:William Holman, and here - Talk:History of Freemasonry where another editor altogether has addressed the situation. Perhaps if you have a moment you could look at what's left as I'm sure I may have missed a few others?--VS ^talk 22:04, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Issue

Sarah, you were noted as deleting some pages from which i had wanted to get some information for some research, they were for Channel 10 news readers Georgina lewis and max Futcher. I just want to know where you get the nerve to say they are no-name personalities. From down there in melbourne you have no idea about who is a notable person here in Brisbane so the fact that you deleted them is completey unjust. They are both senipor presenter at a major news organisation, and the fact is wikiedia is endless so its not like they are taking up space. if that was thj case then reall your page shold be de;leted as they have more profile than you.. Please reinstate the pages or offer a reasonable expplination as to why there were deleted!

Well, that's an interesting (not to mention rude and insulting) way to tell me you think I made an error and to ask to me to reconsider.

Given that you seem to have set yourself a mission of recreating the exact same content and defending articles created by User:SA TV, that you both take the same unpleasant "Well, you're not from Queensland so you don't know what you're talking about" attitude when addressing administrators, that you both make the same plethroa of langauage errors in articles and in talk comments, I feel there is likely one operator of both accounts. Please tag all the accounts you have created with the "alternate account" tag.

To address your comments and questions point-by-point:

• You write: "I just want to know where you get the nerve to say they are no-name personalities". I have never said any such thing and I find your accusation very offensive. If you are going to have a go at people for (allegedly) saying things you disagree with, it would be nice if you would give the person a link to the comment you are referring to so they can work out what you are talking about. Both articles you ask about were tagged for requested speedy deletion by other editors as "db-bio". I reviewed the articles, agreed and deleted them under CSD A7(WP:CSD#Articles) which means that an article "does not assert the importance or significance of its subject." I have reviewed the articles again and I still fail to see an assertion of importance or significance. Whether these people are "no-name personalities" (your phrase, not mine) or not is really not the point. The point is whether the articles explain that they are notable broadcast journalists, how and why they are notable, important or significant.

" This is just offensive and state-centric idiocy. A person doesn't have to live in Queensland or Australia (I noticed you complained to a non-Australian administrator that he didn't know what he was doing when he deleted one of your newsreader bios because he isn't an Australian) to be able to read an article and look for an assertion of notability. It's just ridiculous to claim an administrator must live locally to evaluate an article and apply the appropriate policy.

• "They are both senipor presenter at a major news organisation" Please read our cornerstone policies: notability, verifiability, no original reseach and for biographies of living people, WP:BLP is absolutely fundamental and non-negotiable. And if you still think, under our policies, these people are notable broadcast journalists then you need to explain how and why they are. And you need to support the claim of notability with reliable and verifiable sources. The Futcher article cited zero sources while the Lewis article cited one source which was really not acceptable because it was advertising material for a speaker bureau.

• You wrote: "the fact is wikiedia is endless so its not like they are taking up space". Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not some sort of names database or promotional site. People need to be notable in their field of endeavour to warrant an article in an encyclopedia and their notability needs to be verifiable by reliable sources. The bulk of these recent fill-in news reader articles have been either copyright violations or they've been based completely on internal publicity material. This is not good enough. We need verifiable, independent reliable sources for biographies of living people.

• "if that was thj case then reall your page shold be de;leted as they have more profile than you." I don't know exactly what you mean by my "page." I do not have an article in the mainspace. Presumably you are referring to my userpage? If so, your suggestion that my userspace should be deleted on the basis of notability is, frankly, absurd. Userspace and the mainspace, where the articles are located, are completely different parts of the site with completely different purposes and policy application.

I am concerned that these recent fill-in newsreader articles were all submitted by a person who posted a swag of articles which were blatant copyright violations. I am currently in the process of reviewing all articles contributed or substanitally edited by said user and all copyright violations will be speedily deleted. Sarah 10:07, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

I feel like a fool for coming and talking to you about this, but recently Kiran90 congratulated a vandal who had made a particularly rude edit on my user page. He did express that it was not right, but he profusely congratulated this person and applauded them. When I said that this was not the right thing to do, and when I said that vandals should not be encouraged, he came back and called me vain and paranoid. I responed saying I was hurt by these names, and he has now come back and said "I'm having fun watching you do what you did to the BGS page to the MJ page". I can't take this. When I stopped editing the BGS page I wanted to have nothing to do with any editors associated with it who had, in my opinion, antagonized me. I may appear to be a whining fool, but I cannot take this when I have moved on. I have moved on past the BGS page, and I want nothing to do with it. I learnt my lesson. But my god it stings when users like Kiran90 continue to watch and antagonize me. I can't take it. Can you please tell him to stop? --Paaerduag 09:48, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Dad comes way way first

Hi Sarah - all is well with me - busy at work, and singing (my other full-time hobby), and wiki. This is ridiculous. I played around with this guy paaerduags page once, just for fun, then it gets completely blown out of proportion. Obviously you have a serious attitude problem towards your fellow editors which is not conducive to collaborative editing. As far as leaving messages on your talk page goes, it is not your page, it belongs to the project and is simply made available to facilitate communication with you. Anyone, myself included, may leave messages here if they wish. If you don't want to receive such messages from me, then don't edit against consensus, don't leave factually untrue comments in response to me and don't leave unpleasant responses to other editors and I doubt I will have any need to leave you any more messages. Abdominal Thrusts

Hi - the the consensus was formed and the page redirected [5], after 6 days of discussion and unanimous support from a number of users. After this redirect had been performed, DXRAW started to revert the edits and started an argument on the talk page along the same lines as the one you and Mark seem to have been having. In response, I suggested we leave it for a further week and see if anybody else replied: with 2 more days to go, we've had one more oppose, but the balance of support is still clearly in favour of the redirect. --John24601 08:32, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

I hadn't even noticed the redirect to Heimlich Manouvre - that's been undertaken by DXRAW thismorning, with, by the looks of it, no discussion whatsoever! The article in question was at abdominal thrusts, the proposal was that relevant content should be placed in Choking and the original page should be redirected to there. Consensus was reached for this, and despite this DXRAW chose to undo it claiming there was none without discussing with anybody first. --John24601 08:42, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Abdominal Thrusts

Pzavon, I'm just letting you know that I've redirected and temp protected the redirect of abdominal thrusts to choking. This is because there were some problems with the page over the weekend and this seemed to be the best way to sort it out. The other editor who opposed this redirect has now withdrawn from Wikipedia and so you appear to be the only editor opposed to the move, so, while there wasn't a complete consensus, there was quite clearly stronger support for redirecting to choking than any other option. I don't have a horse in this race and am happy to follow whatever you guys decide to do, so I encourage you to continue discussions and, perhaps, arrive at a clearer consensus. By the way, are you aware that people have been leaving messages for you on your userpage User:Pzavon? If you would like me to delete the page, just let me know. It looks like you protected the unilateral change. However, I find I have little continuing interest in the specifics of this issue. I was following the page on the Heimlich Maneuver for personal reasons and have little interest in the broader article on Chocking, per se. The prime mover for merging into Chocking does not appear to be open to alternative arguments and in a merge/no merge question there is not much opportunity for compromise. So I am walking away from this for now. I have UNWATCHED Abdominal Thrusts and will probably do the same to Chocking this evening.

As to knowing that messages are left for me on my talk page - certainly. Wikipedia raises a red flag when I log on and there is a new message - and I have my Talk page set to "Watch" so changes bring it up on my Watcklist. Pzavon 23:48, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I undid the unilateral move and protected the page on the option which had clear overwhelming, though not unanimous, support on the article's talk page. Hey again. I understand about the lyrics. Thanks for the tip. About the ANF I think I made quite alot of mistakes. No.1 It said mark stone because i copied from the Parks Victoria infobox template. No.2 I got confused with it being a company or chain. It's just that theres one in my area and its an anf so I thought I'd write a article about it. Czech puppeteers?

I notice that, in the past few days, you've twice deleted an article on a Czech puppeteer with the rationale "created by sockpuppet evading block".

Be that as it may, and not to quibble with your block, but I did some research and I've found that this puppeteer does in fact exist - the Washington Post described him as a "master", for instance, and Woodcarver Online calls him a "leading puppet artist". May I ask why you decided that the creation of the article was indicative of socklike behavior? DS 14:07, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Ah, I understand. Thank you. Most annoying when they do that; his suspension means that he's not allowed to edit the database for anything, not even to create valid new articles. And if the articles were allowed to remain, his suspension would be meaningless. Pity, since they are valid. I trust that, when his suspension finally expires, you'll allow their re-creation? User:Fighting for Justice

Hi, I noticed that you blocked this fellow last month because he "continued to violate BLP on my talk page re a named minor after a very serious, clear warning". I'm not familiar with the case or the editor, but I'd appreciate it if you could spare a moment to look at this latest disruption, which pertains to disrupting Wikipedia to make a point, by removing external links with the edit summary "delete the external links then. They contain links to the victim's name. Oh no!" after another editor removed names of victims on BLP grounds.

Sarah, I am sorry to bother you, but since you remarked on my recent change of name, I wanted to bring to your attention the edits of this user. They are a non-native English speaker and seem to be PoV-pushing on a matter of naming. Specifically the editor seems to be against the use of the term "West Germany" to describe the Federal Republic of Germany. When I asked them not to, I was implicitly accused of sockpuppetry. Just looked at his latest trolling ... good grief, what part of "go away" doesn't he understand? I dunno if my opinion counts for anything, Sarah, but I would hope that nobody even considers unblocking this guy--if he does, I'd hazard to guess you'd see a lot of people pulling out. Is there any real way to stop him short of complaining to Telstra? Park Dietz's company found at www.taginc.com specialises in this area. I don't know if it's a question of trying to discourage someone when it has gone this far, but it seems that the vandalism system is pretty foolproof and by repeating their offences and resorting to sockpuppets they make themselves obvious. • 1. I believe that now User: VirtualSteve has now passed 10,000 edits and his long list of DYK's and Good article contributions should make him a Sysop. Do you agree?

• 2. Cast your mind back to April, I was campaigning for a Wikipedia ad (QXZ-ad back then) for WP: AUS. It failed, but now the ad has been created by another user. Have you heard anything about this?

Hi, I used a few sentences from the internet, but not many at all. Some wordings may of been coincidental! I've attended wesley for 12 years, and I got the information from our school information booklets. None of the text about the subject is identical at all, all the information about the subjects i wrote was in my own words. I spent a lot of time writing it. Wikipedia edit

Totally a mistake, not vandalism. The ref tag for NPOV was blank (someone removed an earlier version), and I was finding it tough to track down the markup. So I copied it into Notepad, used Notepad search, fixed the problem and then copied back. Then I realised I'd made a mistake, so did another edit using the same method. I'm assuming that you did not read my post on your talk section. I added a citation to prove that my assertations were legitimate. You are from Australia. I have lived in Boston for my entire life. As the Massachusetts Political Director of the Harvard College Democrats, I liaise with the staff of these men and as a very active member of the Boston political community, I have been to many events, read numerous articles, and have even personally spoken to some of these men about their political ambitions. I am quite serious about this. I think people deserve to know, if they choose, who will potentially be the next mayor of Boston. You're welcome for my moving of that message on your user page to your talk. It just so happens I use the RfA monitor on your user page to view all the active RfAs, both the two I nominated, and all the others (I hope you don't mind me doing that). I noticed that your user page looked different and I realized why.

I recall your comments on the first RfA and was curious as to what your second ones would be like. Now, RfAs run the full gamut from mild affairs to all-out warfare and flamefests; you've seen more of these than I have, you get the idea. Either way, they're all trials of fire for the candidate. Anyways - enough!

Homeowners Association

Hi Sarah, I go to sea for a living which makes my contributions to Wikipedia sporadic at best. I noticed that you recently responded to an inquiry if mine. In response (belatedly) to your interest I offer the following: As well as discussion with an editor named Jance, my talk page also includes a communication with Edward Hannaman, a widely quoted representative of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, in charge of that State's oversight of Homeowner Associations. Mr. Hannaman emailed his comments and advice to a group of residents in Massachusetts (to which I belong) who are trying to make legislative changes to how Homeowners and Condominium associations are allowed to operate in our state. The following text, found on my talk page, is from that communication:

"If anything things have gotten worse in New Jersey. Unless stopped by direct forceful State action, the attorneys and property managers quickly realize they can play into board members’ “power corrupts” mindset. Once the board-or even the Board president-decides that he/she is the ruler/dictator; the attorneys and property managers can really open up the money spigot. The problem lies in the difference between a true democracy with balancing players (two parties a free press and an independent judiciary) and what associations have (total concentration of all power and control of all resources in the board). Boards can even easily rig elections-and the only owner redress is court action that is very expensive. Try to get limits on board power- Make any significant decisions depend on a vote by owners; get guaranteed secret ballots, open fair elections-and by all means make sure you get owners’ rights to counsel fees for having to fight boards that ignore either general law or their own association governing documents. But to actually make sure it all works you need State enforcement by a State regulatory authority with only the people’s interests in mind. Here in NJ what passes for protection for owners is located in the entity that works with developers and builders. Naturally that agency sided with the lobbyists (most of whom are connected to builders/developers) opposing owner interests. So the agency gives me no support-it’s worse than having no enforcement because it gives the appearance that there is State protection and deludes people. I am not permitted to testify to legislators about owner concerns or to speak to reporters. If this were with an independent State agency, the legislators and the press could hear first hand from a State official on the firing line about the problems. The poor owners in NJ have no Executive entity to support them against the powerful greedy lobby profiting off of the owners. Hope you can make sure that does not happen in MA. Good Luck" I am now clear that publishing this communication, referencing my talk page as the source, would violate Wikipedia's policies (I am just now becoming familiar with Wikipedia protocols). I feel that this communication speaks for itself with regard to how serious an issue Homeowners Associations, which are almost entirely unregulated in the US, has become for United States citizens. My original communication with you was to question how, or if, this communication should be brought to light in the context of the Wikipedia definition of Homeowner Association.

As far as my personal interest in the subject, as I have said, I belong to a group of citizens in Massachusetts who are trying to make legislative changes to how Homeowners Associations are allowed to operate. I think it is very important to note that I have zero financial interest in the subject. I was introduced to the subject after witnessing my 92 year old neighbor driven from my Homeowners Association under threat of "fines" after the Homeowners Association disregarded a binding, prior agreement made years earlier with this person. Due to the lack of regulations, laws or State oversight and enforcement, the board of this association persecuted my neighbor for the simple reason that they could get away with it. When the president of the Board was confronted with the possibility of a lawsuit, her response was to say “go ahead and sue, we have insurance”. It was the most disgraceful thing I have ever been “associated” with. Since then, I have frequently testified in support of pro-homeowner legislation that would protect the elderly and other vulnerable groups from predatory exploitation by Homeowner Associations (and their attorneys) here in Massachusetts. I have found that it is NOT homeowners that oppose the bills that would protect homeowners from predatory practices, but a powerful lobbying group of SERVICE PROVIDERS (primarily lawyers) to Homeowner Associations that oppose these laws (see “Community Associations Institute” and a laundry list of laws they have successfully blocked). You should notice that the editors who are concerned about the negative information in the Wikipedia article all seem to have a financial interest (some way in the “business” of associations) in the continued ignorance of the general population about the more dysfunctional aspects of HOAs. The afore mentioned Edward Hannaman had issued an extremely important (and negative) report on Associations in New Jersey in his capacity as State regulator. This report was relied upon heavily by the NJ State Appellate Court Division in overturning a First Amendment Case decision that had been originally found in favor of a Homeowners Association there. The AARP and the ACLU have also gotten involved in this case in support of the homeowners. Imagine… the Homeowners Association in this case has spent over 1 MILLION DOLLARS of homeowner’s money to attempt to deny these same homeowners their First Amendment rights! The case has drawn on for 7 years! This case is a perfect example of why homeowners are helpless in the face of tyranny by the boards of HOAs. If the homeowner’s only recourse is to go to civil court (as my 92 year old neighbor found), then they must spend 10’s of thousands of dollars, and years of time fighting the board who risk nothing personally. The only group to profit from this disgraceful waste of resources is the attorneys; and they profit handsomely! For the purpose of the Wikipedia article; many of the ‘facts’ about HOAs are not flattering to either those who operate them or those who profit from them. Nonetheless…they are the facts and need to be included for the benefit of those who are researching the subject. In my editing of this article I have attempted to make the body of the article as unbiased and factual as possible. I have left the criticisms in the appropriate section, and left the benefits section alone as well (even though the Zolgby Poll is something of a joke. Just 800 individuals were interviewed, out of a pool of almost 60 million. The results of this poll are so statistically invalid that any claims made based upon this poll are nonsense). In this light I would think that you might be more concerned with those editors who wish to obscure the negative aspects of this subject. It seems to me that they do so from the worst of motivations; financial. More to the point, those editors who wish to obscure the negative do so by unilaterally deleting facts contained in this article. Specifically; I have included comments made by NJ State regulator Edward Hannaman taken from a report that was included in an Amicus Brief to a State Appellate Court by the AARP. Credible and referenced information. Yet these comments are routinely deleted on a unilateral basis with no discussion offered! Why? Certainly the credibility of this information is not disputed; it is the implications and one might say the “truth” that is being willfully obscured. As far as my motivation for editing this article, I offer the following: I believe that if these negative issues were to be recognized and resolved, then these communities would be exponentially more pleasant and safe places in which to live and retire in. They would most certainly contain much less conflict. Just as certain is the fact that those who profit from this conflict would suffer. I believe that this “truth” is being desperately obscured by an industry trade group not only in the legislatures of all 50 States, but in this Wikipedia article as well. hello, i am the user known as onopearls. although i feel that you have every right to criticize a nominator, to call their intentions questionabe is ,in my opinion, uncouth. How long a user has been editing wikipedia or how long an account has been active shouldn't play such a significant role in your judgement of a nominator, and saying that the noms intentions are "fishy" is unjust without background knowledge. i have been editing wikipedia for close to three years, but never felt that a account was nessecary. i have also edited much more than 167 times. my short sentence can be attributed to the fact that i have never nominated a user before. i will write a longer one the next time nominate a user, should i ever do that again. please dont consider this a personal attack, but i felt that your accusations were misguided, and that i needed to set the record straight. best wishes, Onopearls 19:58, 2 July 2007 (UTC) "[Thoughtless and stupid comment removed by the author.]".

If you are going to quote me, please do so accurately. I never called anything "fishy" and I see nothing "uncouth" in my comment. Numbers as a sole criteria for RfA

I was struck by something you wrote about inflated numbers as a guidepost for RfA nominations, and wanted to say YES! Recently on a nomination I made, the sole neutral vote, so far, has been for not obtaining a specific number of edits. Yet the user I nominated is a prolific article writer - 5 brand new really good articles the last month alone! - and it struck me, shouldn't quality and article writing count more than tiny one word edits just to run up numbers? I was therefore really struck by your comment on this matter, which I thought said the same thing, only better...Stillstudying 13:46, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

I answered you on my talk page, but wanted to post this prominantly on your page: keep fighting for a better review system on RfA's than what we have! Fox Foundation

Sarah I'm not sure you fully understand the nature of this organisation. It awards Doctoral degrees only and is highly respected. In fact it rejects many who apply for accrediation through their existing lesser degrees. It works through many different universities and their academics. There would appear to be no valid grounds to delete the page apart from perhaps a lack of knowledge of the foundation. Does wikipedia delete an entry simply because some readers do not fully understand a page? Surely an organisation should not have to justify itself when its reason for being is already well known. This article was created with an incorrect capitalization, presumably to get around the protection of Milena Velba, the correct spelling. Looking around, it seems an unreferenced version of the article was deleted at the start of the year, and several attempted recreations were deleted as "recreation of deleted content". After thinking about it, I think a professor at a respected university claiming the world's largest anything is sufficiently notable for an article. This is an IP address used by a number of people. It looks like User:Blissyu2 is an account that User:Internodeuser asked to use. Internodeuser isn't a banned user, but Blissyu2 is. It seems like a rather odd case, actually, if you look in to it. 123.2.168.215 17:06, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Images in articles

Hi. Just got your message about the images I have been adding. I need to know more about this. With an article like Sydney, how many shots are ok? Have doubts about the articles being balanced image:text. That proposition looks a bit dubious to me.

Anyway, how many shots are acceptable in the average article? I haven't always added 46, obviously, but it would help if you can give me some guidelines. There are a lot of shots in the Sydney article because I was trying to cover national estate buildings. I can reduce the number, obviously. Will keep it in mind.

Thanks. However, I did not block on the basis of sockpupppets as such. I blocked on the basis of Circumventing policy, "Users who are banned or blocked from editing may not use sock puppets to circumvent this." I was acting on the belief that User:Zordrac (Blissyu2 / Internodeuser) is banned, as noted on his talk page and the various block logs, however, I concur with the IP that his status is unclear and confusing and I have already asked for clarification from people involved. Homeowners Association

Hi Sarah, I have edited Homeowners Association, and anticipate that this edit will be unilaterly deleted. My edit is an excerpt from a well documented report by a representative of the New Jersey Dept. Community Affairs, and was used by the AARP in a report to the NJ Supreme Court. Mike, most importantly, please understand that good faith edits, whether you agree with them or not, are not vandalism. Regarding your edits, if they get reverted, you will have to discuss it with the other editors and try to reach an agreement. However, one thing that seems to be a rather appropriate reason to revert your edits is the article is about Homeowners Associations in general, not the New Jersey Homeowners Association which is what it appears you are trying to turn the article into. I think this might have something to do with the the reversion of your edits. Additionally, preemptively reporting people to me before they've done anything is rather pointless. As it stands at the time of my review of the article, your edits remain in the article, even though I am rather unconvinced of their suitability, but I will leave that for others to judge. Please use the articles talk page to discuss the edits and why you think they are appropriate and see if you can reach a satisfactory consensus with others editing that article.
