Why are you adding nowiki tags in articles? --TitoDutta 08:19, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Abir Goswami, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Indian (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Opting in to VisualEditor

[edit]

As you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit beta") is currently available on the English Wikipedia only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 100 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 18:27, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did with this edit to Rowdy Rathore. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Jim1138 (talk) 07:06, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your change of action film to action is in error as "action" is a disambiguation page. Perhaps, a pipe, action would work better. Please check your work before saving using the 'Show preview'. Thank you Jim1138 (talk) 07:09, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Rowdy Rathore is not defined as a comedy in either IMDB nor Bollywood Hungama. Wikipedia needs to be wp:verifiable. Content should wp:cite wp:reliable sources (RS). One's opinion "wp:original research" should be avoided. Unless you can find an RS supporting "comedy" (and add the cite with your edit), it should not be added. If it is a comedy film, use comedy film and not comedy. You can use comedy (which produces the link: comedy, but links to "comedy film"). See wp:link for information on linking. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 07:20, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I removed your edit again as you did not cite a source for the film being a comedy. The two refs I mentioned state "action" only. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 07:23, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sapna Pabbi

As I can see has been requested of you multiple times, please do not add information to biography articles that is not supported by reliably sourced content.--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:10, 16 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The website "biogtown.com" that you added to Sapna Pabbi is far from a reliable source (please click that link and read it!). In addition, nationality is included in the lead sentence, not ethnicity. You will need to find a reliable source that verifies that Pabbi has dual nationality in order for the information to be included in the lead. --Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 17:08, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Action "thriller"

[edit]

Please stop referring to all action films as thrillers. Sivaji isn't a thriller in any sense, it's just action. A film like The Silence of the Lambs is a real thriller, while Ghajini may be called an action thriller. Similarly, Enthiran is pure science fiction, so please avoid adding too many genres in the lead to avoid WP:SEAOFBLUE. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:54, 13 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. Language removal

[edit]

Hi, please don't remove the language information from article leads as you've done here. Language is a fairly basic piece of information that would intuitively belong in the lead, especially considering how linguistically diverse India is. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 23:21, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Language

[edit]

Please stop adding multiple languages to the |language= parameter of the film infobox as you've done here and here without providing an explanation consistent with the Template:Infobox film instructions. Based on your editing history and lack of explanation, it is unclear to me if you know what the purpose of this parameter is, which is to indicate the primary language the movie was filmed in, not for dubs. Since there is also no context in the article that describes the film being shot in multiple languages, or using multiple languages, your edits are not intuitive. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:51, 14 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced genres

[edit]

Hi there, re: this, which appears to be a repeat of this, please don't add unsourced genres to articles. Indian film articles, for whatever reason, are magnets for genre bloat. Comedy becomes comedy-drama. Comedy-drama becomes comedy-drama thriller, which becomes romantic action comedy-drama thriller, etc. References help us to manage these additions.

And, as usual, if you make changes and they are reverted for just cause, your remedy is to fix the problem (by adding a reference in this case) or to open a discussion to seek consensus for inclusion, not to quietly restore your preferred version. Thank you, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:24, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A few important things

[edit]

Hi there, a few important things:

 1. Re: this edit, please don't remove Estimation templates from Indian film infobox gross values. These are here to communicate to readers that the figures are (surprise surprise) estimates. See WT:ICTF if you're interested in the rationale. Note that there is consensus for this.
 2. Re: this, we don't use INRConvert templates in the infobox anymore. That's the been the case for over a year. If you're interested in the rationale for that, see WT:ICTF discussion archives. Short story: Clutter and needless calculations. The template can be used elsewhere in the article though.
 3. Re: this, please don't use nett figures in the |gross= parameter. If you're unclear on what the difference is, you should probably research that before editing any further.
 4. As a positive, thank you for providing references for much of the content you've been changing. That's very helpful and it is appreciated.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:48, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Re: this, again, please don't add INRConvert templates to infoboxes. This contravenes ICTF consensus. If you want to set up a local exception, you must do that by starting a discussion and waiting for consensus. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:53, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Unexplained removal of content

[edit]

Please don't remove content as you did here without providing a clear explanation. Your edit is indistinguishable from vandalism. If you removed the content because it was in the past-tense, the smart thing to do would have been to change the tense and find a reference that supports the claim that the film was released on that date. Surely you can understand why people might want to know when the film was released, right? And that they might want to verify that date? Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 07:46, 23 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

INRConvert templates in infoboxes

[edit]

Please don't add the INRConvert to film infoboxes for the budget or gross. There was a discussion on WP:ICTF and it was decided they were not appropriate. You've been notified about this before, and you're still making the change. I'm going to simply revert the full change at this point as it seems you're trying to be disruptive. Don't use the template in film infoboxes. Ravensfire (talk) 16:33, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:13, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Indian actor Faisal Khan.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Indian actor Faisal Khan.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:45, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Faisal Khan (Indian actor).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Faisal Khan (Indian actor).jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the file description page and add the text below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
 2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 16:03, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Whpq (talk) 16:04, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Image of Anil Chatterjee.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. RonBot (talk) 17:07, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Kharaj Mukherjee. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Nonsense warning

[edit]

Re: this warning you left on my talk page, do you have an example of me editing the budget of Thugs of Hindostan without providing a reference? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:29, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and surely you didn't use dailyhunt.in, a faceless content scraper, as a reference, right? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:45, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Are you the arbiter of truth at Wikipedia?

[edit]

Re: this edit, please don't make big changes like this, where you of your own volition decide that one reliable source is more authoritative than another. All Indian financial figures are arrived at through estimates. If there is a significant disparity between two reliable sources, in this case Bollywood Hungama and Box Office India, wouldn't it be more academically honest to present this range of opinion rather than deciding by yourself, silently, without discussion, that Bollywood Hungama has the only correct opinion? Yes, I think it would. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:33, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours for persistently making disruptive edits like this one, where you again, silently decide of your own volition which budget and gross figures are "accurate" in a film industry where there is no accuracy, and where there is a clear disparity of opinion between two reliable sources. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions and I'd recommend engaging in discussion more.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: .  Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:44, 5 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Aam Aadmi Party, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Business Today (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 12:51, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
