Tea Party requested move
Greetings. I appreciate your attention to the requested move at Talk:Tea Party. However, I think it may have been better to re-list it for further input. As it stands, the low turnout (only four other editors participated) and general lack of policy-based arguments on the "oppose" side should really have resulted in a state of no consensus (see WP:NOTMOVED).
Please remember that consensus is not a vote; besides myself, only one other editor (Shadow007) used any policy-or-guideline-based reasoning at all. I would appreciate it if you revisited your closing statement accordingly. Thank you. —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 13:55, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Sangdeboeuf! I don't think it's compulsory to quote WP:XYZ to indicate that the arguments are policy-based etc. and I am of the opinion that all arguments there were based on policies and it would be inaccurate to say that they weren't based on policies at all. I may have made a mistake and my reassessment might not be equitable. Nonetheless, I appreciate your concerns and suggest you to file a review request at WP:MR. Thank you. samee talk 15:19, 2 March 2018 (UTC)

Highway reverts
Hoping that you can explain why the recent rash of reverts for the highways in Utah, United States was necessary and/or helpful. Prior to your reverts, the existing disambiguation pages were in compliance with disambiguation guidelines. Now it causes hatnote links to the "disambiguation" pages to redirect from their target (disambiguation page) to other pages; pages that, in many cases, should redirect to the original page with the hatnote, not to the disambiguation pages. An Errant Knight (talk) 18:58, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
- I don't think I need to give explanation especially when I have asked the same on your talk page. Would you like to explain why was it necessary to copy content from existing disambiguation pages (such as Special:Diff/828520850) and pasting it at titles that were already redirecting there (such as Special:Diff/828520775). samee talk 08:28, 4 March 2018 (UTC)
- First of all, apologies for not noticing your previously posted question on this users talk page. It went unnoticed as it apparently got overshadowed by another, subsequent comment.
- To understand the why you asked about, it must first be understood that, unlike most (if not all) other states, Interstates and U.S. Highways in Utah are by state law defined as state routes. The infoboxes in the articles for these Interstates and most of the U.S. Highways in Utah conveniently specify the applicable section of the Utah State Code (laws) and a hyperlink to it. (If you would like to refute these designations, you are welcome to address the issue with the Utah State Legislature, rather than argue the matter on Wikipedia.) Because of these designations, a significant amount renumbering of the state highways in Utah was required in 1977 to ensure that there were no duplicate route numbers. (Prior to 1977, there was both an Interstate 70 [I-70] and a State Route 70 [SR-70] within the state of Utah. Since 1977, I-70 within Utah has also been legally defined as Utah State Route 70.)
- As indicated above, the state route pages for Interstates and U.S. Highways in Utah redirect to the appropriate article for the current and applicable road (at least they did and should have, prior to the reverts). For example, Utah State Route 70 appropriately redirected to the Interstate 70 in Utah article because it is by law "Utah State Route 70". Accordingly, a hatnote was added to the I-70 in Utah article indicating that "'Utah State Route 70' redirects here" (the hatnote has since been removed by another user). However, since there was a Utah State Route 70 prior to I-70 being designated as such and users may be looking for information regarding the former route, the hatnote continued by directing users to the Utah State Route 70 (disambiguation) page. That page then functioned as it should by providing a link to the former SR-70, as well as a brief explanation as to why I-70 in Utah is also considered Utah State Route 70. (At least it did, until it was reverted.)
- Following your reverts, there are multiple disambiguation pages that simply redirect, rather than act as a disambigution page ("a non-article page which lists various meanings of [a particular term] and which links to the articles that cover them"). If there is a clear primary topic for a particular term, then the article for primary topic should be either on the main page or the main page should redirect to the article for the primary topic and that article should have a hatnote referring users to the disambiguation page. The main page should not act as disambiguation page. In this case, those who legally determine state route designations in Utah have determined the primary topic for all state routes in the state (even if they are commonly known by another name).— Preceding unsigned comment added by An Errant Knight (talk • contribs)
- Thank you for the explanation. What you're saying is that you redirected Utah State Route 70 to Interstate 70 in Utah but what I see is that you redirected it to Utah State Route 70 (disambiguation) (Special:Diff/828520850), effectively we are at the same point. Take another example, you redirected Utah State Route 84 to Utah State Route 84 (disambiguation) Special:Diff/828520283, it's similar to swaping the titles. Your explanation does not address my query. My reverts might not have harmed since they essentially restored the pages to their earlier and long-standing versions. If you're involved with some other editors regarding these changes, you should talk with them and fix them accordingly per WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT but if you want to redirect titles such as Utah State Route 70 to Utah State Route 70 (disambiguation), then you should visit WP:RM. samee talk 04:13, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
Sannan Mahboob
Your reason for declining my biography doesn't seem valid, you can search for the notability of Sannan Mahboob on google,i provided real and appropriate citations for the verification. You should review it ThanksSannanmahboob (talk) 14:53, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Sannanmahboob: I did not decline your draft for being non-notable or because I commented it's an autobiography. I declined it because additional citations are needed to verify the claims written in the draft. You may add additional references and help us verify claims and notability. samee talk 14:58, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
Check for references before accepting additions
Hey Samee, I see you accepted an edit ([1]) on Pakistan Armed Forces which did not have any reference. Can you please be careful in the future when you accept such additions as this plain number inflation. If you are unsure about the edit, you can let some other editor who has experience in the the topic area review the edit. Thanks. Adamgerber80 (talk) 21:00, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

tag
Please look into this article [2] which has more than 20 citations including reliable ones such as BBC, Dawn, Tribune which are leading newspaper dailys. If there are one or two unrealiable sources or there is OR as mentioned in the tags by a user who hasnt replied to on the page's talk page ever since applyinh these tags, the tags should be specifically placed at specific places where the problem lies. To generalise the whole article by placing tags on top of the article affects the credibility of the whole article itself which is unfair (103.228.156.95 (talk) 00:07, 8 March 2018 (UTC))

20:37:24, 10 March 2018 review of submission by Hellinadustcart
If you look at all the other Wikipedia UK ombudsman pages this is the most substantial (It is the biggest) and has the most references. It links to regulators, broadsheet media and academic websites regarding reports. Please can you be more specific about which references are not acceptable and what sentences are promotional? Thank you
Hellinadustcart (talk) 20:37, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Hellinadustcart. The tone and style of the article are promotional. Lead of the article does not assert the notability partly because it is written in non-encyclopaedic tone. Headings are also not appropriate. The length of the draft does not matter, if the subject is notable and draft is very short I won't shy away from accepting it. I suggest you to go through other similar articles on Wikipedia and also read these policy pages at WP:NEUTRAL, WP:Encyclopedic style, and MOS:PUFF and rewrite your draft accordingly. Thank you. samee talk 20:47, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
Please could you give me an example of where I have used promotional tone or expressed fact as opinion as I am genuinely at a loss? Also the headings are all the different ombudsman sectors within Ombudsman Services. In effect they could all have separate pages? But it's probably better that they are all on the one? Or I could give each a seprate page as separate ombudsmen? Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hellinadustcart (talk • contribs) 21:27, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
- Your draft starts as The Ombudsman Service Limited trades as Ombudsman Services. It was incorporated on 11 January 2002 as Telecommunication Industry Ombudsman Limited trading as the Office of the Telecommunications Ombudsman (Otelo). it does not assert notability. It should introduce what's it etc. The phrases like has expanded into other sectors, competent authority which, ensures its members etc. are problematic. In short, the first half or particularly, the lead of the draft needs revisions. I suggest you to read similar articles and follow their style. samee talk 05:36, 11 March 2018 (UTC)

Phase (a) has been completed, during which active contributors were awarded laptops and internet stipends. Phase (b) will be a contest in which editors will come together and develop a writing contest focused on content gaps. Each month three individual prizes will be awarded to each community based on their contribution for the month. The prizes worth 3,000 INR, 2000 INR, and 1,000 INR, will be awarded to the top contributors for each month. The contest started at March 1, 2018, 0:00, and will end at May 31, 2018, 23:59 (IST). New Page Review Newsletter No.10
ACTRIAL:
- ACTRIAL's six month experiment restricting new page creation to (auto)confirmed users ended on 14 March. As expected, a greatly increased number of unsuitable articles and candidates for deletion are showing up in the feed again, and the backlog has since increased already by ~30%. Please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day.
Paid editing
- Now that ACTRIAL is inoperative pending discussion, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary.
Subject-specific notability guidelines
- The box at the right contains each of the subject-specific notability guidelines, please review any that are relevant BEFORE nominating an article for deletion.
- Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves with the new version of the notability guidelines for organisations and companies. A further discussion is currently taking place at: Can a subject specific guideline invalidate the General Notability Guideline?
Nominate competent users for Autopatrolled
- While patrolling articles, if you find an editor that is particularly competent at creating quality new articles, and that user has created more than 25 articles (rather than stubs), consider nominating them for the 'Autopatrolled' user right HERE.
