Wondering if User:Natalie rose gauci Softblock Should Become a Hardblock Due to Presented History

I am just reaching out because I saw you blocked User:Natalie rose gauci. I am wondering if the User:Natalie rose Gauci softblock was too light and the user should have a more traditional hardblock and their accounts should be considered sockpuppets.

According to the talk page for her article, users with names resembling (or outright claiming to be) Gauci have been editing the article since at least 2013. This includes User:Natalierosecowan, Natalie Gauci's former maiden name (who was blocked indefinitely for vandalism), User:89.240.30.134, and User:Shri207 (who was never blocked).

I also found User:Brainsoul and User:Xfactor1234 in 2012 (both never blocked), User:Shriyansh Sapkota in 2013 (who was also blocked indefinitely for vandalism), and User:Natg8888 in 2017 (never blocked) as other single-purpose accounts that only seemed to edit Gauci-related articles.

Feel free to do what you wish, but I just wanted to show it does not look like an isolated pattern. Thebirdlover (talk) 00:03, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up, I'll think about that, but I'm not sure it's particularly useful to upgrade the block; in fact, if the person who operates the account has already been hardblocked in the past and they create a new account, it's still block evasion, and so they can still be blocked, regardless of my soft block... —  Salvio giuliano 15:00, 15 August 2024 (UTC)

Editor experience invitation

Hi Salvio giuliano (thanks for beating me to blocking that spammer). I usually try to invite experienced editors I come across to participate here because I think it's a worthy long term project. Feel free to pass if you're not interested. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 10:25, 20 August 2024 (UTC)

Clovermoss, thanks for the invitation, I'll be sure to look it over. Concerning the spammer, I was cleaning a bit of the backlog at UAA, using User:Mr. Stradivarius/gadgets/SpamUserPage... I don't know if you're familiar with that tool, but it makes fighting userspace spam much faster. Best. —  Salvio giuliano 10:29, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
Interesting. I've never heard of it but I'll keep it in mind and consider installing it. I'm a relatively new admin that only occasionally does admin-related tasks so I might prefer to just keep doing things one step at a time. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 10:40, 20 August 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:20, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
