RfC comment

Hello, since this is my first time making RfC and you are the only person that responded with a comment, may i ask you what happens if you are the only one that actually comments something? And how do these things usually end?

Who makes a decision on what to do in the end? Because some of the editors already refused whatever the result of RfC may be, citing WP:DEMOCRACY Setxkbmap (talk) 22:30, 1 September 2024 (UTC)

Administrators on Wikipedia usually close RfCs (Requests for Comments) when they believe that there is a consensus. Make sure that the posted question is clear (A or B and such) and that you offer a rational solution and ofc. that you are presenting reliable sources. All beginnings are difficult. You can read more here. Best. — Sadko (words are wind) 07:15, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
Thanks. I assume i did a decent enough job.
There is a clear question in RfC (Should we state tribe origin is mixed) and i provided some of the simpler sources that address the claim directly.
They are covering up RfC with discussions and arguing, they are modifyng article during it, making changes and implementing their sources, while they told me that if i don't agree i should create another RfC. They are really making a circus out of this, but i hope it won't affect the judgement of others. Setxkbmap (talk) 07:28, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
You did.
There is a limited in interest in such topic, which is often being (ab)used.
Call for admin. help if you doubt that there is deliberate spamming at work. — Sadko (words are wind) 07:50, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
I just wanted to inform you that your language change is constantly being reverted on Kuči
Also, may i ask what does the orange username mean, and where can i read more about colored usernames Setxkbmap (talk) 13:44, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Feel free to choose any color you prefer. I might go green soon, it's the latest fashion. — Sadko (words are wind) 13:48, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:23, 19 November 2024 (UTC)

One-click archiving

Hi there. Thanks for your archiving on Talk:Epic poetry! I'd recommend giving the fork Wikipedia:One click archiving#Multi-section archiving (0CA) a look to make the process easier, if you haven't already seen it. You can select multiple headings and apply them all in one go, and it even guesses what archive page name to use. Belbury (talk) 15:14, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

Hi Belbury, I’ll give it a try in early 2025 when I get a new computer with a powerful CPU, I'll be finished with this in December 2024. Things are a bit buggy at the moment and even using One-click archiving is a challenge. Thanks again, take care!— Sadko (words are wind) 15:18, 25 November 2024 (UTC)

Montenegrins of Serbia

Hi Sadko, I've already talked to Theonewithreason about the latest change I made (it was accepted). You can find the discussion in his user profile Podgoričano (talk) 20:15, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

Please comment on the article's talk page, not on my user page. Ty. — Sadko (words are wind) 20:18, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

Can you please slow down with one-click archiving? We have bots that can do this without flooding watchlist changes with each individual section per page. —  HELLKNOWZ  TALK 11:04, 6 December 2024 (UTC)

The issue is that this isn’t happening in practice, at least not on most pages. We have numerous talk pages with debates spanning the past 20 years. A few editors and I have been working on it. That said, I don’t really plan to continue this kind of work starting in 2025. It’s not particularly inspiring; I’ll just wrap up a few topics in December and leave it at that. Thanks for reaching out. — Sadko (words are wind) 11:28, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
The few editors and you should stop working on it today, you have no reason to do this, it is not an improvement to the pages I have seen, it should be left to those editors with a stake in the content of the page, not to some drive-by editor who has never contributed to the Talk page at all, and it is contrary to bot guidelines. There is nothing wrong with Talk pages with many years of discussions on them if that is what editors interested in those pages want. There is no benefit to what you are doing, and you are annoying others. If you wish to continue, please at least get consensus for this at an appropriate venue, like WT:Archiving or WP:VPM. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 17:19, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
@Mathglot: I'll take care of it, and I'll also uninstall the tool now, no problem there. I genuinely believe these actions will benefit the project in the long run, and they were made with good faith. However, I respect your perspective and you probably have a good point. I wasn't aware of some of the guidelines you mentioned. Take care, and I recommend reviewing what I’ve said here sometime in the near future. Wishing you all the best. — Sadko (words are wind) 17:27, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for your understanding. I don't doubt your good-faith, and I appreciate your response. Mathglot (talk) 17:42, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
Much appreciated. I'm glad that's resolved. Best. — Sadko (words are wind) 18:08, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
