Adoption

[edit]

Hello SVG,

I saw you were looking into adoption! I'd like to offer myself to help you out! Being an experienced editor, with several successful articles and many edits, I thought I would be a good choice! I love to work with new users; they have so much potential! I know how it feels to be a newbie in the ever so confusing Wikipedia. I'm working on a New Users program and I would be so happy to work with you. Before you accept, you might want to look over the adoption guidelines and understand:

  • Forever. Once experienced, an Adoptee will be able to graduate, though likely to stay in touch with their Adopter.
  • A social club. Though fun, Adoption is there to help users use and improve Wikipedia.
  • Just for the newest of users. It is also for users with limited experience who want to expand their involvement.
  • A shield. Adoptees remain solely responsible for their behavior.

There are many benefits to adoption and I'm glad you'd like to get involved. If you're interested, please drop me a line!

Thank you, mono 00:53, 28 March 2010 (UTC)--mono 00:53, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the adoption Mono!
Here, the Adoptions Project is probably not as well developed as in the German Wikipedia. There you can select a mentor or whichever of you is simply the next take. After a short time have you been welcomed and mentors to formally break the novice :-)
To me the adoption of serious and important. I need help and I am getting this from you. I would like to hire me as a volunteer in the project and learn with others, communicate kindly and objectively. Can improve, like write articles, articles and understand the processes at Wikipedia better.
Greetings from Cervidae (09:09, 28 March 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Congrats

[edit]
Congratulations!
Congratulations on your recent adoption, SVG, and welcome to Wikipedia! I saw that you have expressed an interest in being adopted by an experienced editor. Being an experienced editor myself, I accepted your request. Whether you want to learn about wiki markup, find something to do, or just talk to somebody, I'm the person to see about it - just leave a message on my talk page. Remember, I am willing to help you and make your time here more enjoyable. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have, and remember to "be BOLD!"- I'm here to help you; no question is a stupid one. In the mean time, here are some pages that you might find helpful, in case you haven't already gotten the official welcoming:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome and congratulations!

Edit summaries

[edit]

I see you've performed a series of edits to the Sandbox recently. No problem with that, but I've noticed some rather odd edit summaries in there (such as this, which appears to accuse Soxbot of vandalism, and then this, where you appear to be accusing yourself). If you're testing something, could you ensure that whatever it is produces reasonable edit summaries before letting it loose outside the sandbox, please? MfG, Tonywalton Talk 13:31, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but I use the revert button by Revvar. This do I test currently pending and therefore can occur such summaries. However, I will use in future to the summary of the revert button eighth :-) Greetings from Cervidae (13:38, 3 April 2010 (UTC))[reply]
Tonywalton Talk 19:25, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you move the page? Its title was correct. FinalRapture - 15:39, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

But there was only one redirect. Cervidae 15:41, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
But why did you change it? The title was correct, there was no reason to move it. FinalRapture - 15:46, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Is there another Ponchatoula? Cervidae 15:47, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going by what I've seen most often in article titles for towns, and I think it is best to leave it as Town, State FinalRapture - 16:03, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:WikiProject_Cities/Guideline is also relevant to this. FinalRapture - 16:05, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In fact, you do something like if there is a city more often. I think that you have more experience than me and know what is right and what is wrong. Regards, Cervidae 16:08, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

南新留协会

[edit]

Hello. I have removed the speedy deletion tag you applied to this article because you didn't state a source for the copyrighted text. Can you please provide a weblink or a printed source where this exact text has already been published? Otherwise I don't think it qualifies for a copyright violation. De728631 (talk) 16:05, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Then perhaps a justification as "commercial item" would have been better. The article does not seem particularly relevant, and maybe copyrighted. Note that !?. I haven't a source. Cervidae 16:12, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Do you speak Chinese? If so, you can place a {{db-group}} tag on it or {{db-company}} and maybe give a line of translation in the edit summary. As long as we can't prove that a text is actually copyrighted, we should not speculate. At least for text in Latin letters, there's even a bot called Coren Search Bot that regularily scans pages for copyvios and then there's also the team of Pages needing translation who are experienced in assessing foreign language entries, so we shouldn't be too worried about this particular article. Rollback

[edit]

Hello, per your request, I've granted you Rollback rights! Just remember:

If you have any questions, please do let me know.

--please be sure to warn the vandals you revert. A list of templates is available at [Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace]] or you might like to use Twinkle. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:33, 5 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am grateful for the trust and the introduction. Twinkle, I have not yet used, but Huggle is installed. I will use Huggle and do not use the law in a negative sense. Regards, Cervidae 20:39, 5 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please be careful.

[edit]

The two edits you reverted here were not vandalism. The user was just asking a question. - Donald Duck (talk) 18:30, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately I have not noticed that I just revert to a discussion. I had confused the debate with an article. Sorry. Cervidae 18:34, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings

[edit]

Greetings Cervidae - thanks for keeping an eye out on my talk page and thanks for the explanation. I must admit to having been slightly puzzled for a while 'cos when I was going to answer that message it had disappeared due to you and another editor reverting & counter-reverting. Puzzled, but not worried ;) Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 18:42, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

REDIRECT Chattahoochee and Gulf Railroad

[edit]

I am confused about what has happened to the #REDIRECT Chattahoochee and Gulf Railroad article (redirect) I created to allow the Genessee and Wyoming Railroad table of railroads entry for Chattahoochee Bay Railroad to be changed from a red link to a link to an article explaining the history of this short-line railroad. I have seen many redirects for Pennsylvania railroads with parallel circumstances, so I do not understand the issue with this redirect. Can you help me?--DThomsen8 (talk) 13:05, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please write a article but not a redirect. Okay, you can removing the delete-template ;-) Cervidae 13:14, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am still confused. Can I leave things as they are now? --DThomsen8 (talk) 13:25, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

June 2010

[edit]

I noticed that you have posted comments to the page User talk:DerHexer in a language other than English. When on the English-language Wikipedia, please always use English, no matter to whom you address your comments. This is so that comments may be comprehensible to the community at large, and aids transparency. If the use of another language is unavoidable, please provide a translation of the comments. For more details, see Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 08:11, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since you are mistaken. DerHexer speaks German and it's okay for him when I talk to German with him :-) Cervidae 12:19, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Erm

[edit]

Why did you revert this? Did you check the reference to see if the reference said what it was sourcing in the article? (Because it didn't.) Daniel (talk) 14:57, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The user did not specify any source. In another version, a source was specified. SluggoOne has reviewer rights, I went so expect that my revert was okay. I apologize for my error! Cervidae 13:12, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats!

Thank you! Cervidae 17:20, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cervidae, what are you doing? I corrected a story and made it more in line with Wikipedia Guidelines, removing emotive language, unsubstantied info and a false reference. Your reply indicated I had used obscenities. What? http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Kashmiri_Pandit&diff=next&oldid=373421347 I am, by the way a registered Wikipedia user, by the looks of it I've been a member longer than you. It seems you didn't even read the revision. I'm going to revert it. I think you should leave it alone as it is now more factual. Kind Regards, Toa —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.70.51.237 (talkcontribs) 13:18, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry if I did something wrong. Do you have sources for your edits? Cervidae 11:27, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cloak

[edit]

Hi! I see that you've requested a cloak. However, I don't see that you have sent a confirmation memo. So, if you still want your cloak, I suggest you send a memo to wmfgc confirming that you indeed want this. --Filip (§) 23:44, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
