A couple of things- first, good job on Santa Monica Public Library. It shows some real effort and is evident that someone with a literary background did it (that's a good thing!).

Second, have you seen the banner for Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Libraries? I note there's nothing on the westside of LA- the only LA listing is (yes) Cerritos. If you and the library are interested in promoting an event I wouldn't be surprised if at least a few people showed up.

Third, know that role accounts are forbidden on Wikipedia. There are a couple of reasons, much of it has to do with the legal framework provided by Copyleft licensing. Anyhow, be very aware of it, don't share this account with anyone, and the worst that'll happen is you will be asked to recreate your account under a name/nickname rather than an organizational name. It's a problem if your username is "microsoft", but probably less of an issue with "SMPL Reference" unless you share the account. tedder (talk) 22:35, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

SMPL Reference replies: Thank you for the word of encouragement, Tedder. I'll explore the Wikipedia Loves Library concept with my work group. The SMPL Reference account is not a shared one. I am the head of the Reference Department here and will be handling all edits that occur on this account. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SMPL Reference (talkcontribs) 22:51, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I came here for the same reason as Tedder. It'd be best if you changed the account to something less institutional sounding. It's easy. Wikipedia:Changing username.
Also, thanks for the article on the library. Great work!   Will Beback  talk  23:07, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, you may also be interested in the GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives & Museums) project, which, among other things, offers advice to librarians and archivists wishing to link to their institution's resources on Wikipeida. Cheers, Valfontis (talk) 23:15, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
