Japanese Mythology Project...
[edit]Nice to have someone with your level of Japanese in the project! I've got a request...could you check the Japanese wiki for some info on Hidatori? It's been marked as a possible hoax. Welcome, and thanks! MikeDockery 21:55, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
Style guidelines
[edit]Hi Struggle. Just wanted to thanks for your contributions. And one other thing! I see that you haven't been around Wiki for too long (hell, I still consider myself a moderate noob), and I'd like to point out a couple of things in regards to the articles that you've been helping create. You really seem to follow a style format similar to the JA wiki, and whether you're doing that on purpose or if it's just because you just want to translate the info from JA I'm not sure.
I'm trying to write a little style guide for owarai topics on the project page (next edit I'll move it to it's own page, it will probably get very long) and I just want to stress the fact that I'm trying to get away from mirroring the Japanese pages (which always focus much more on points, facts, and lists than English articles do), and instead creating more fluid articles like those described in Wikipedia:Guide to writing better articles. That page describes a news style which is much closer to what we should be aiming for.
I've tried to smoothen out and link the sections as much as possible in the articles I've already completed, and I think they stand as fairly good examples of the style that we should be using for articles of this subject. If you have any comments, feel free to leave me a message or comment on the talk page for the project. Of course, if you're not really interested in truly wikifying the articles, and would prefer to just transfer the information from the Japanese pages, I would be more than happy to stylize the articles before uploading them to the article namespace if you'd save them in my Sandbox. Thanks again! freshgavinΓΛĿЌ 03:12, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
- I've got no problem with that! I just hoped you weren't going to get offended when I completely re-format your articles every time you create a new one. It'd be a good time to pay attention to how they're being changed though; since it's generally somewhat formulaic (and I've had a few months of practice) it's a lot easier now (and quicker) for me to pump out articles when they're wiki-styled anyways. By the way, I don't have a computer either, and I'm working from JHS, so I know what you're up against : ). freshgavinΓΛĿЌ 00:28, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
- Well, if you're interested in sumo content, you might want to have a shot at finishing this (決まり手) off a little bit. It doesn't need to be translated—the English source is adequate—but the sheer number of kimarite and the difficulty in wording them elegantly in English means that it's really difficult me to find the will to try to finish it. It's meant to replace the current kimarite, which is merely an ugly alphabetical list. freshgavinΓΛĿЌ 00:39, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- Crap dude, I thought you said you were busy! I'll give it a read through and then move it to the name space, thanks! freshgavinΓΛĿЌ 01:47, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit]I have had to delete your glossary of owarai terms, because you did not include any information other than the terms themselves, with no hint as to their meaning. Feel free, however, to create articles for the individual terms if you can supply enough information on them all to make them worth articles. DS 03:28, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

Commenting out text
[edit]If you want to comment out text in the Wikicode, do it like this:
<!--THIS TEXT WILL NOT APPEAR-->
It's a little bit hard to remember; it's an old HTML style, and I think there's other ways to do it with pure wikicode, but anyways, 注意してくれ! freshgavinΓΛĿЌ 06:50, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
Japanese wikibooks
[edit]Hi, S7rugg1e. Hajime mashite. If your "textbook" means free, online book, I thought you might be interested in the Japanese wikibook. If you are going to edit it, Contributor's Guide and the ML will be helpful. Well, perhaps your "textbook" is real textbook since you got JLPT-1 (great!). If that's the case, forget this post and sorry to bother you... Regards, marsian 11:56, 20 March 2006 (UTC) --
[edit]I assume you're referring to my comments to the other fellow. I guess you're right, but even if I wasn't fed up it would probably come out the same. I've never actually studied, I've just picked it all up from TV and friends, so I don't even know how to use polite speech, let alone write it. I read (present perfect tense) the JA Wiki to try to get the gist of it, but I'm already a bit too far gone now and I subconciously resist traditionally polite speech patterns the same way that most young Japanese do.
I'm pretty butchake in English anyways, though I understand it won't have the same effect in Japanese. I think I will reflect a little on this. Thanks for the warning anyways. freshgavinΓΛĿЌ 09:21, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

P:O small issues
[edit]There are some words (generally in kombi articles) that I've been trying to use carefully, and I guess it'd work best if I asked your opinion as well.
Until now I've been trying to avoid using manzai to refer to anything other than classical manzai (e.g. by referring to performers as owarai duos or owarai kombi). I know in Japanese they usually refer to stand-up as manzai, but since a lot of kombi now do mostly conte it seems to make sense to use the word manzai to only describe the style of stand-up as opposed to the comedians. Am I making sense here? Do you disagree?
Another one is using Japanese words in articles. Especially with boke and tsukkomi, the glossary is there as a means of linking, so just use the tag boke instead of linking to something like boke (a disambiguation page). When Japanese words aren't linked, it's useful to italicize them, to emphasize that they aren't English. It's not 100% standard to do that, but it's recommended by the MoS and I think it looks best that way too.
I can't think of much more than that, and I know that you're making most of these articles in a rush so I can't really blame you for skipping the boring background wiki-stuffs, so I'll leave you alone for now and just say thanks a lot for the contributions : ). freshgavinΓΛĿЌ 01:12, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- Nah, I'm not busy. I'm just supposed to be. And now you've inspired me to expand the owarai article to include the use of the word manzai-shi, as well as a few more glossary definitions : ). freshgavinΓΛĿЌ 23:44, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Request of Translation
--Hatto 11:47, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
--Hatto 11:28, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
--Hatto 06:35, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to make you so persistent. I may make you irritated with you and I think foolish that I requested the article repeatedly. However, I'd like you to answer to me because I send messages to you. It's a little strange but I want your message since I'll create Masashi Tashiro's lots of foreign languages' article on wikipedia. I think strongly that I'd like many people in the whole world to read his article. So, he exceeded number votes of Osama bin Laden and George W. Bush and become a provisional winner of "Person of the Year" in 2001. Did you understand my passion? --Hatto 14:51, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
So you realize that I have limitations of time. I touch my mustache. struggle 00:18, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- Did you watch my message? If you watched it, Please answer to me because I don't know anything unless you do it. I'm so sorry to say to you repeatedly but I hope you translate his article. Please translate it as soon as possible!
- P.S - Thank you for creating Sosuke Sumitani's article! I recently noticed him. But you are the first person that creates Japanese announcer's article. There's no Japanese announcer's article in English wikipedia. --Hatto 03:05, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
220.211.116.80 07:25, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
NAI!struggle 01:26, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
--Hatto 02:39, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello S7rugg1e! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the unreferencedBLP tag. Here is the list:

Speedy deletion nomination of Choplin
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Choplin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, society, or group, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. DrStrauss talk 14:43, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
