Proposed deletion of "Relentless"

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article "Relentless", suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Low-charting song at #15, title too unlikely for redirect what with quotation marks. Relentless (Jason Aldean song) was already redirected.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy", by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" is a redirect page resulting from an implausible typo (CSD R3).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy", please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 06:10, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Any content about this song can go into the previously existing article She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 07:06, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing and categorisation

[edit]

Please follow Ten Pound Hammer's advice and add references and categories. Having to chase up all your articles occupies time other Wikipedians could use for better things. Please treat other users with the same consideration you yourself would like to be treated with and avoid creating unnecessary work. It should be noted that repeatedly refusing to comply with common-sensical instructions and requests can lead to you being brought to the attention of the Administrators and receiving sanctions as a result. Ironholds (talk) 21:06, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ryanbstevens. Content on Wikipedia must be verifiableverifiability is one of Wikipedia's core content policies. Thus, you have to provide reliable source in your articles. Therefore persistently adding content without providing reliable sources is generally considered to be disruptive editing and may accordingly result in a block if continued. To avoid that, I kindly ask you a last time to provide reliable sources in your articles in the future. Thank you. — Aitias // discussion 16:12, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Redirecting your unsourced articles

[edit]

On wikipedia all content needs to be verifiable. Unsourced articles are bad, and can end up deleted. You have been creating single sentence articles on songs without adding sources. While I clearly understand you want to help wikipedia, doing what you have done is not helpful. Having a one sentence article about a song is not adding any information that isn't found already in the album article. Accordingly, I have redirecting your unsourced, one sentence articles back to the album article. Have you by chance read WP:NSONGS? It says Most songs[footnotes 5] do not rise to notability for an independent article and should redirect to another relevant article. If you want your articles on songs to not be redirects, you have to make sure that you cite MULTIPLE INDEPENDENT sources that establish the notability of the songs. The fact that some of these songs have charted #1 is a good sign. But I (and no one else) can verify that these songs were even #1 hits without sources. Please, follow our guidelines, add sources to your articles, and ask questions if you don't understand something. If you continue to ignore policy, your articles will most likely continue to be deleted and redirected. Thanks for your consideration.-Andrew c [talk] 16:05, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

also, I found out about your editing through a post about you at WP:ANI, see here and comment if you want. -Andrew c [talk] 16:06, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The articles on singles that were redirected, is it possible that i can recreate the articles, with sources this time? {{helpme}} Most individual singles don't warrant an article of their own (see WP:SONG) If you intend to create an article, ensure that it doesn't already exist under another name as a redirect. It is better to create as a user subpage first, then seek help to review it, as that will ensure that it doesn't get deleted before you finish the setup of the article Mayalld (talk) 22:24, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"I Will Be There" now redirects to the Dan Seals album On the Front Line. How do i get rid of the redirect so that i can create a page for "I Will Be There". I will add sources, references, and categories to it. {{helpme}}

Why were my articles "South of Santa Fe", "She's Country", and "Every River" deleted? I just want to know.

  • They weren't deleted, just redirected (see WP:REDIRECT). I generally give benefit of the doubt to Top Ten hits or higher, which is why I left the Dan Seals songs alone. As for "South of Santa Fe", I don't think you'll find much information about the song. Ideally, every song article should have multiple reliable third party sources; see Better Get to Livin' as an example. Even though that song didn't make Top 40, it was still well covered by third-party sources, so it deserves an article. I can help you find sources if you'd like, and can help you figure out how to properly add them to the articles. I'll do it tomorrow, though, as I'm about to go to bed. License tagging for File:Walking the Wire .jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Walking the Wire .jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Is it a good or a bad idea to create an article on an album that was released to digital retailers. Just wondering. {{helpme}} Depends, see our notability guideline for music to find out.--Res2216firestar 03:42, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Australian country music information was removed from 2009 in country music. That didn't seem too necessary to do. I'm just saying, it's good to hear that kind of information, isn't it? So why remove that?

{{helpme}}

The reason it was removed is on the article's talk page. If you want it restored, read that page and make your case why the outcome of discussion was incorrect.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:59, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I created a separate discography article for an artist, and would like permission to add the backlink to it on the artist's page. {{helpme}}

The separate discography that i made was Jason Aldean's discography. I copied it entirely off of the one on the singer's page. I made sure that they were completely identical first. {{helpme}}

  • Oh, I see. You did all the coding all right but I reverted it. Like I said, it's best to ask on the talk page before splitting it off yourself. Since there was no real consensus to do so. If you still think it should be split off, just ask on the talk page and gather the consensus of others first. If no one else objects after three or four days, you may split it off. However, I generally don't think that discographies should be split off unless the article itself is getting long, or the discography is getting long. For instance, Kellie Pickler is a much longer article, so her discography should be on a separate page even though she only has six chart entries so far. Jason's article is pretty short still, so I'd say the discography shouldn't be split until we get the rest of the article built up to maybe three or four times its current length if at all. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 02:27, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I probably should've clarified. Since I already stated my opposition on your talk page, this means that at least one user opposed the split and it shouldn't have been done. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 04:35, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I objected above before your second split, saying "so I'd say the discography shouldn't be split until we get the rest of the article built up to maybe three or four times its current length if at all." Sorry if I didn't make this clear enough. By the way, please don't forget to sign your posts, and please don't put helpme tags on someone else's talk page. Helpme tags are only for your own userpage. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 17:20, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but i expected you or someone to go to the artist's talk page and object it. There, i would have more likely saw it. February 18, 2009 12:47 PM (My time)

Speedy deletion of Shaun Silva

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Shaun Silva requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. FlyingToaster 19:50, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That {{hangon}} template on the article in question should be enough, you do not need to add {{helpme}} to your talk page as well. cmelbye (t/c) 20:39, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There was no objection, or word of any kind about splitting the Jason Aldean page on it's talk page, and as i was told, i waited four days, and it's been four days, and so i splitted the page since there was no objection.

I thought that it'd be best to ask here. I saw no objection on Jason Aldean's talk page about the split. Where did the user object at exactly? Because i didn't see it. If i saw it, i wouldn't have splitted it in the first place.{{helpme}} February 17, 2009

Hi, you used helpme without asking a question. What is your question? neuro(talk) 17:47, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I saw no objection on Jason Aldean's talk page, and so i splitted it. Then i was told that someone did object it. Where did the user object at? Because i didn't see the objection.{{helpme}}

Who told you that someone objected to the split? Ask that person. //roux   17:55, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

She's Country

[edit]

I need an example. When will a song, such as "She's Country" (which has just entered the top 20 at #17 this week) deserve an article? I know that it has to be well covered by third-party sources first, before a song can have an article. There were articles for songs, such as "Relentless", that had an article, and then they were redirected due to their low peakings on the charts. So i think that "She's Country" should have an article, at least until the end of it's chart run, but if it reaches the top 10, then it should be kept. - February 18, 2009 - 12:34 PM (My time)

  • Don't worry too much about the chart positions. Basically, if you can find multiple sources about the song itself then it should be good regardless. Jason Michael Carroll's current single is barely Top 30 and it has an article because there're enough sources to warrant one. In fact, I was about to help you re-create the articles for She's Country and Relentless, since I've found a source for Relentless. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 17:52, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Add all top 40 songs to 2009 in country music and previous years, or at least all the top 30 songs!

[edit]

All right, we really should add all the top 40 singles onto 2009 in country music, and previous years. The top 40 songs deserve to be remembered and recognized. Imagine the boss at a workplace that recognizes all the men, and gives them better treatment, and pays them more than all the women at the workplace, while the boss treats all the women badly, puts them in dirty work stations, dirty jobs, a harsh environment, and gets treated unfairly, and get paid less than the men, and not even get recognized at all like the men do. That's basically what has happened on 2009 in country music, and all the previous years, by adding only the top 20 songs, instead of all the top 25's, top 30's or top 40 songs. The number-one songs, and the top 20 songs are all the men, while the songs who reached lower are all the women, and those that reached lower than 20 are not being recognized at all. You see what i'm saying? So i think that we should add all the top 40, or top 30 songs, or maybe all the top 25 songs, and not just all the top 20 songs, because this way, it's more detailed, and that's a good thing. Would this be a bad idea? - User:Ryanbstevens - Added on March 2, 2009 at 10:12 PM (My time). {{helpme}}

I have removed the helpme tag because this is not an issue to be dealt with by Help Desk. You'll need to propose that to the WikiProject associated with country music or if you're referring to a particular article, then that particular article's talk page. It seems like we add the top 20 because it's industry standard. Wikipedia has no intention of creating new industry standards in country music. Have a good day. - Jameson L. Tai talkguestbookcontribs 04:37, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Top 20

[edit]

I decided to cut it to Top 20 since pages like 2009 in music use a Top 20 limit as well, and I figured heck, why not just make it consistent? Also, pages like 1995 in country music are already pretty long by just listing the Top 20 hits since the charts were much faster back then; could you imagine what they were like if we listed all the Top 40 hits that year? Wikipedia is not meant to be an indiscriminate collection of information, so I figure that 20 is a reasonable cutoff, given that it's already used on the "____ in music" articles. Also, I hardly see it as a matter of sex. There were plenty of women in the 1990s that were having consistent hits. We're just kind of in a dry spell right now regarding women, as only Taylor and Carrie have proven to be the consistent female hitmakers of country music in the late 2000s (and Miranda, at least, is selling albums like nobody's business, even if her singles struggle). Maybe we'll see what happens when Miley puts out "The Climb" on country radio... Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsHELP) 17:59, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

She's So California again

[edit]

I undid the rebuild of the article for now, mainly because you removed the afd tag and there were other editors voicing a simple deletion. I think a good compromise would be to move the 9513 and Country Universe reviews of "She's So California" to a subsection on the Living Hard article. Fair use rationale for File:Apocalypse.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Apocalypse.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Radiant chains (talk) 20:53, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you had redirected Toby Keith's song "Getcha Some" in the past. I have made a rough draft of the article and would like to make it real. While it wasn't one of his biggest hits, It's still a necessary article for the continuity of Keith's chronology. Also note the unique rap-like singing style he uses. Do I have your blessing? I've got sources & all, I just need you to delete the redirect. leave me a message. Publichall (talk) 05:06, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Make It Home.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Make It Home.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Make It Home, apply directly to the forehead

[edit]

Albums aren't inherently notable. I couldn't find any significant reviews or third-party sources regarding that album, as it was an independent release without any singles, so I redirected it. There're only 500 hits for the album on Google (not that Google hits are a direct indicator of notability, but still). [edit]

Publichall can undo the redirect on their own. The way you're doing it, you're just leaving a blank article behind, which may get tagged by speedy deletion for someone. You don't need to remove the redirect, Publichall can simply write the new article over top the redirect. Good evening, I've just come across the above named article that you created. As a fan of country music myself, I can assure you that the effort is not unappreciated. However, I've attempted to research the subject and can find no real claim to notability. While I disagree with WP:N on certain aspects, even I would say that one song, on its own, is not notable. If you know of some "claim to fame" that I haven't dredged up, then please do add it in and let me know. If I haven't heard back in a couple of days, I'm afraid I'll most likely send it to AfD. Any help I can offer, please drop me a line on my talk page. HJ Mitchell (talk) 19:16, 23 April 2009 (UTC) [reply]

For every category you create, you should specify parent categories to which it belongs. You can do this by listing the parents near the bottom of the page, each enclosed in double brackets like so:

[[Category:Songs]]
[[Category:Hypothetical second category]]

I've added at least one parent to the category. I invite you to check my work for accuracy and completeness.

Ol' Red

[edit]

Ok -- its great that you actually built a page on the song, because the reason I redirected it was because the page was almost empty ... and songs that are that old lack a lot of what could be added today, like reception. I'd also like to address what you said about other pages being created for lower-charting songs; this is true, but a page for recent country songs like those for "Cheater, Cheater" and "Somebody Said a Prayer" have enough info to require a page. PS: As an added note, whether the song is still played on the radio is completely irrelevant ... that may just be your local country station because I've never heard this song before. Category

[edit]

You might want to slow down some with the new categories. Almost every category you've made has been deleted, mainly because of overcategorization. The categories like "Music videos directed by ____" are fine, as there is a precedent that those categories are defining criteria. However, things like "Number-one debut singles" and "songs that charted from unsolicited airplay" are trivial intersections of criteria and/or hard to define. [edit]

If you have an image of a living person, it pretty much has to be an image that you took yourself, or that has a compatible Flickr license. We have image use policies on Wikipedia, and the one you uploaded is most likely a copyrighted image that's incompatible with the image use policies for living people. Copyrighted images of people generally can't be used unless that person is no longer alive (see Dan Seals) or if it's a group that's disbanded (see McBride & the Ride). • Only Flickr images with a proper tag can be used. The one you showed me from Flickr didn't have the right tag, and the Free Image Search Tool found none with the right tag. So yes, you probably would have to resort to a photo that you took yourself of him in concert. I used an image that I took myself for Shenandoah. As for the Dwight Yoakam image vidcap, that one would be okay if it weren't so grainy and fuzzy. Vidcaps of music videos are generally acceptable if the song article describes the video. That was a cautionary merge for now. I hadn't really noticed that "Where I'm From" had an article until it was high enough. Speedy deletion of That Ain't My Truck

[edit]

A tag has been placed on That Ain't My Truck requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of The Hole (song), and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Out of My Bones. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally moving or duplicating content, please be sure you have followed the procedure at Wikipedia:Splitting by acknowledging the duplication of material in edit summary to preserve attribution history.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 22:50, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Eric Church

[edit]

I usually go with a rule of five for templates: if it can be used on at least five articles other than the main article, it can stay. So far, I see only three articles on which it could be used, namely his two albums and "How 'Bout You". If "Love Your Love the Most" proves to be an exceptional hit, then maybe. But until it is, the template should probably be deleted as it doesn't contain sufficient links. Plenty of other templates are deleted for not containing sufficient articles to link to, and just making redirects won't solve the problem either. [edit]

Well, it's been obliterated again so I give up. I thought that any top twenty hit would be notable enough but "Down and Out" really doesn't have a plot so it's hard to write a lot about. It will get an article again someday. It's just that, being Strait's second single, when you're looking at the article for "Unwound", you can't go to the next song through the chronology, you'd have to go find it in the template. Make It Home

[edit]

The CMT source is reliable, but it's only a track listing and nothing else. In a Quiet Room II at least has a review from Allmusic, which is (barely) enough for it to have its own article. We can't have articles on everything; even if the album is by a notable artist, it still has to have non-trivial coverage: reviews, articles about the album, etc. Collin Raye has two albums that got no reviews or chart singles whatsoever: Fearless and his most recent, Never Going Back. Neither has an article because there are no sources about the albums, no matter how notable Collin Raye is. It's okay for an artist to not have an article on every single album. No matter how a video screenshot is taken, it still is copyrighted as there's a copyright on the music video. An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Apocalypse V: Redemption. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Apocalypse V: Redemption. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:23, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Terminator Dreams.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Terminator Dreams.jpg.

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:47, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They don't have to have images in them. You can just use a "P" in the Pepsi one, for instance (although why anyone would drink a beverage named for a stomach acid is beyond me). DRV

[edit]

Rather than going to DRV, the simple thing to do would be to restore it and discuss it via AfD, as you seem to want more of a process, and AfD would be the appropriate venue. That way, the discussion isn't limited to administrators, since only admins can see deleted content. DRV usually assumes that you've taken it up with the deleting administrator and reached an impasse - since I've indicated that there I won't stand against re-creating the content (although my disagreement on the usefulness of the list and category stands, and I may take it to AfD), I'm not sure why you took it to DRV. Acroterion (talk) 03:12, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

One thing I ought to mention: since you initiated the DRV, you should not re-create the article, as it would be seen as circumventing the DRV. If a consensus develops to restore the article, either I or another administrator will act on the closing consensus. Acroterion (talk) 03:14, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I merged this song because it only had one source, and I couldn't find much more. I Will (Jimmy Wayne song) has four sources, so it can stay even though it peaked one position lower. With most songs in the 15-20 range, I usually opt for a merge unless I can find enough sources for a sufficient article. Proposed deletion of Big Green Tractor

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Big Green Tractor, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Non-notable song. Poorly referenced.

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Big Green Tractor‎. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Removal of an AFD tag does not make the AFD go away, it just means that people who view the article do not know it is being considered for deletion. Bonewah (talk) 18:59, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please don't say things like "If you post it for deletion one more time, i will report you to the administrators!" either. That can be seen as an attack, and will end up getting you reported instead of the deletion tagger. Hi! You added to this article that the Flatiron was the first skyscraper built in NYC. I removed it, but my edit summary was truncated, so I wanted to explain to you why I took it out. Basically, the problem is that "skyscraper" is a relative terms, defined empirically and not to some set standard, so it's next to impossible to say what building in NYC was the first to "scrape the sky". Now, if you've got a reliable source that says that, by all means please re-add it to the article with that citation attached, but in lieu of that, the vague statement that's currently in the article is probably the best we can do. Best, Ed Fitzgerald t / c 19:05, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your response. You wrote: "I got what i put on there from the Skyscrapers book. It is the truth" Unfortunately, Wikipedia doesn't deal in "truth", it deals in verifiable facts, which means facts which can be verified in reliable sources. If the "Skyscrapers" book is a reliable source, then you can use it to support your statement, but I would take a look at WP:RS to make sure it qualifies. A tag has been placed on Sean Patrick McGraw requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

Proposed deletion of Hyatt Regency Hotel (Lexington)

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Hyatt Regency Hotel (Lexington), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Each individual hotel cannot have its own article unless it is especially notable in some way. We are not an indiscriminate collection of information

Intelligentsium 02:44, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I think it would be a good idea if you read the Wikipedia policies about notability which determines what should or should not gets its own article in the encyclopedia. While you've done a good job at providing the basic facts about the Hyatt Regency in Lexington (which I believe I've stayed at, incidentally), your article does not "assert the notability of its subject" - that's Wiki-talk for the fact that you haven't really said anything in the article about why this particular hotel out of all the thousands and thousands of hotels in the U.S. should have an article about it. If something significant had happened there, or there was an incident involved with its building, or its design was extraordinary or it was unique in some other way, those would all be reasons why it might have an article, but, as Intelligentsium has pointed out, we really can't have an article about every hotel, it's just not what an encyclopedia is about.

All this is by way of warning you that someone is almost certainly going to either speedy delete your article, or send it to "Articles for Deletion" (AfD), and there's really not a prayer in the world that it won't be permanently deleted.

As I suggested above, you should read up on reliable sources, verifiability and notability and put that information to good use the next time you start to write an article. Pick a subject that's notable, or that you can make a good argument in favor of, and write away. Ed Fitzgerald t / c 03:08, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your response - I doubt very much that the claim that every tall building in every city should have an article is going to fly. I can't recall at the moment whether the Hyatt is the tallest building in Lexington, but if it was, that would merit a mention in the article on Lexington and not a complete separate article. You might have a better argument for the notability of the Rupp Center as a whole, including the hotel and the mall, but I wouldn't guarantee it. Ed Fitzgerald t / c 03:23, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of tallest hotels in the world

I have seen that you have edit the ranking lists in this article, i have reverted it, because we can not rank the hotels which are of the same height, separately !, so its looks better with "=" sign. for confirmation see the articles, List of tallest buildings in the world, List of buildings taller than 400 metres...

Ok add the name of hotel which you had previously added, the current status of the article lokks better as there will be no confusion left for the readers to find which hotels are of same height so thats why i have added an = sign to those hotels, which are of same height, but here there are alot of hotels which are of same height so thats why i have to put = sign, therefore there will be no confusion left, but you should add the correct name of the hotels which you have added previously so go ahead.

Terminator Salvation

[edit]

Regarding this edit, please relax. No one is saying that this is a lie. However, the infobox is too small to accomodate a long list of release dates in every country around the world. For the purposes of the infobox we are interested only in the film's earlist release, its first release in its country of origin, and its first release in majority english-speaking countries (as this is the English Wikipedia). Mexico is neither a majority english-speaking country, nor the film's country of origin, nor the earliest place the film was released. For this reason, information on the film's release dates in various countries around the world, including Mexico, is left to the main body of the article (such as in a table within a "Release" section). Please see WP:FilmRelease for more guidance on listing release dates in the infobox. --IllaZilla (talk) 01:50, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I redirected the album page back to Tim's discography. It's way to early to make a page for that album considering Curb likes to delay albums quite often. Singles templates

[edit]

When you get the chance, could you create a template for Billy Ray Cyrus' singles? I stink at making templates in general and usually have to use the "show preview" at least 10 times to get everything right. You don't have to do it now, just whenever you have time. Thanks!! I have nominated Number 1's… and Then Some, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Number 1's… and Then Some. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Proposed deletion of Today (Gary Allan song)

[edit]

The article Today (Gary Allan song) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails notability: peak #48 on a genre chart.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Jeandré (talk), 2009-07-21t11:32z 11:32, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Propsed Change on Redirect

[edit]

Noticed you had a redirect on a song "It Works". I'm trying to post an article on a company called IT Works and the redirect snags it. How do you feel about removing the redirect? There doesn't look to be anyone else editing that song or adding info there. Thanks for your input.

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Ryanbstevens! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 72 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Roman White - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Wes Edwards - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

File permission problem with File:Don't Close Your Eyes.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Don't Close Your Eyes.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:49, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for File:Don't Close Your Eyes.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 21:18, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
