Mediation Committee
[edit]Hi, that is a fair point that you have made on the Committee's website. I have not had any intereaction with you, and I can understand your neutral point of view with regards to that and the fact I am not an admin. I am currently have admin coaching with Drini and Jaxl and am very keen to become an admin as soon as possible. I have already done the one Mediation case for the mediation committee, which I linked on my nomination. You can have a look at that and see what you think. I am also a moderator for AmiDaniel's VandalProof, and am standing in the Esperanza elections. So I am trying my best to get my profile beefed up a bit on Wikipedia. I'd be very happy to discuss what I see the role of the Mediation Committee and its members as on MSN Messenger, IRC, Google Talk, Skype or simply on Wikipedia (although I think it is much better to be able to have a more 'real0time' conversation. I thank you for you viewpoint and I hope to be able to perhaps discuss with you further in order to, perhaps, engenered a more poisitve viewpoint. --Wisden17 14:01, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Ral, just to reiterate I'm happy to discuss further my nomination to be a mediator, as I appear to have answered your question above, and you've neither commented on it, nor change your vote (either way!). Like I said above I'm happy to enter into a discussion with you over this, as I certainly appreciate that you do not want to rush your decision, and netiher is the nomination process quick. --Wisden17 23:16, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
Signpost
[edit]Hi, sorry to keep bothering you! I'm just leaving a message to ask if you could mention about Community Justice in the next issue of the singpost. We're just about finished our first meeting, and it would be brilliant to try and get more members, which a brief story in the Signpost may well do. You can take a look at our first meeting here --Wisden17 00:44, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Features and admins
[edit]Hi! I made Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2006-04-17/Features and admins for tomorrow's edition of the Signpost, I hope you don't mind. It'll probably need a few changes tomorrow; I added Kaisershatner as a user granted admin status, though he hasn't become admin yet (but the numbers seem to imply he will be). Also, it doesn't have the standard bottom navigation yet; I'm assuming you'll fix that. Cheers, Jon Harald Søby 21:01, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

- Sorry for the delay. There's little worse than being without a trusted tool. I'll write a couple weeks in advance on Friday. I was bold and updated the footers ( and editors note o_O ); I hope this didn't violate a zillion style guidelines. +sj + 09:34, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
- I didn't update the main signpost page or subscriber's template. Waiting to hear back from you. I briefly updated the single-page view for reference, to see what it would look like. Cheers, +sj + 14:44, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
- Great, thanks :-) Next week I definitely have to cover 'about' information, since we'll have registration starting, and people will be wondering about it. +sj + 22:19, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Signpost RSS Feed
[edit]Hi Ral315,
I was wondering how the Signpost RSS Feed was updated. I would be happy to edit that, if it is possible for me to do. Seeing as the last issue is from a long time ago, it would probably be a good idea to start editing it again.
--Primate#101 04:53, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
P.S. When is the Signpost coming out?---its almost 12hrs. late!
- Thanks for responding so quickly! I realized right after I posted the comment that you had just updated the signpost. I'm sorry to keep asking you questions, but I was wondering, If I were to write a story for the Signpost, what page would I send it to (or write it on)?

Signpost ref templates
[edit]You may not be aware, but there's a discussion I started about the whole ref template conversion here. Basically I and several other users profoundly dislike the new ref system, and feel that there's no consensus to convert with such absolution to the new system in the manner that the recent Signpost article seems to imply. I'd like to ask you to re-word the Signpost article for more neutrality, or at least to reflect the opinion of other editors that this new system is not inherently better, that {{Ref}} should not be considered completely deprecated, and that this issue is not as clear cut as the Signpost article implies. Thanks and best regards, Ëvilphoenix Burn! 03:55, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

Status Template
[edit]Hi, Ral315!
I took you up on your offer. I've created something for your userpage--a status notification. To change this, simply go to http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Ral315/Status?action=edit and change "out" to:
Note: Don't include quotes
- "out" (Out)
- "in" (In)
- "sleeping" (Sleeping)
- "later" (Be Back Later)
- "busy" (Busy)
And customized for you:
- "signpost" (Working on Wikipedia Signpost)
It will automatically display on any page with the template {{User:Ral315/Status}} on it. Also, they have specific colors (eg. out=red, in=green, sleeping=purple, busy=orangeish yellow, signpost=pink)
I hope you like it! If you have any questions, drop me a line.

Re: News and notes
[edit]I apologize; I completely lost track of the time and date and have been extremely busy. I probably won't get a chance to work on them before tomorrow evening, so if you can cover it for me, that would be great, otherwise I'll do it as soon as possible. Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 02:50, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your understanding! Speaking of the Signpost, I will be travelling out of town this weekend and will be even busier the weekend after that; while I may get some time to log on, I think it would be best if someone else could cover News and Notes for the next two weeks. (After that, I should be OK again. :-) ) Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 00:04, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
IWWC 2
[edit]Hi Ral315,
I've just translated the IWWC and I think it would be better to make extra pages for the Contestant Sign-up Sheet, Judges (for each language) and Prizes, so that they can be included in translated pages too. Do you agree?

[edit]Thanks for supporting me in the Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. Although I wasn't elected to the Advisory Council, I am very happy with the response I received from my fellow Wikipedians. Your comments on my RFA
[edit]I was just wondering what you based your oppose vote on my RFA on; I'm not saying I want you to change it, and in fact I'm perfectly fine with it. However, I don't really see how a signature will impact my abilities to be an administrator (I know quite a few very successful, mature administrators with signatures similar to mine, but I'm not going to point fingers). Again, though, I respect your vote, and also wonder; did you happen to look over the stuff I dropped in? Its just a few conflicts and such that ended postively (P.S. must stress again; not trying to intimidate/pressure you into changing your vote. Just bringing up some things. If you like, reply on my email). Thanks. _-M o P-_ 21:54, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for replying to my question, and providing some more heaping helpings of constructive criticism. Sorry if my signature is too long, too. _-M o P-_ 04:44, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
I'm sorry but what?
[edit]- combined with this user's hideous signature (yes, I know he changed it; it's still hideous) lead me to oppose. If you need to express yourself with custom cursors and other features that take up three or more lines in an editing window, you're not mature enough to be an admin.
Huh? No offense, but it looks to me like some people are just looking for new reasons to support admin candidates... — Ilyanep (Talk) 02:11, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

There were corrections in my fix: you have forgotten some times (see what happens at 15:00 and 16:00 on Monday).
- I also factorized the span style just to reduce the switch size, but apparently you don't like it...
- There are minor plural errors (1 minutes, 1 hours)

Cross-namespace redirects
[edit]We actually have som very old crosspace redirects such as NPOV and be bold, and the reason I undeleted the redirects was that a DRV debate concluded (10-8) that they were to be restored. I would ask that you restore them again because much of DRV's integrity is based upon admins respecting the decisions made there, and not simply overturning the decisions made there when you disagree with them. Sjakkalle (Check!) 06:56, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
Good evening. You recently deleted the "userbox" redirects after they had been restored at the end of a long and mostly polite Deletion Review discussion. I don't particularly care about these redirects and am not arguing that your action be reversed but I do have to take exception to the way you carried out the action. Your deletion in the face of a good faith closure of the DRV discussion and without either discussing it with the closing admin or requesting a follow-on review strikes me as bad form. Given your very strong opinions expressed during the DRV discussion and the closeness of that particular debate, there is an appearance of a conflict of interest. I believe Wikipedia would have been better served if you had recused yourself and asked some independent admin to conduct a recount.
Incidentally, the comment you added on the deletion, Cross-namespace redirect against our own policies... is, to the best of my knowledge, technically incorrect. The policies I am aware of say that they are generally discouraged but are evaluated on a case-by-case basis as appropriate. If there is an absolute ban, I urge you to cite it because neither I nor any of the participants in the DRV discussion could find it.
None of us are perfect (least of all, me) but please stive for greater impartiality in the future. Thanks. Rossami (talk) 02:04, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- That raises an interesting question. When restoring a page in accordance with a DRV discussion, can you even link to the discussion? Do we have a comments section for restorations yet? Rossami (talk) 02:54, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

Hey
[edit]Thanks, I'm still considering what to do there. but please, read my response (it'll be done soon) before rushing to judgment. IronDuke 22:44, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- And that's appreciated, believe me. However, if I am right, and GNS is a sock of a user who has previously harrassed me, watching GNS won't help -- GNS is making noises about trying to have his account deleted [[3]], as I guess he's worried about this blowing back to his real account, but he can always make a new sock and all starts again. (And just for fun, please note where GNS innocently pleads he does not know what he has done wrong, where elsewhere he brags about his sly maneuver of arranging a sneaky (and improper) speedy deletion and how much more adept at WP he is than I. New user?) IronDuke 00:46, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
Hello!
[edit]Hi Ral315 - about your recent question on my talk page, it would be my preference that you contact LC directly if you have an inclination to recover some of his talk pages and subpages. His recent edit history might be indicative of what was a contributing factor to his decisions, but nevertheless, at the moment, undeleteing those pages isn't something I feel comfortable taking responsibility for right now. I think it would be good to leave them as is unless something else comes up. He should still be reachable. --HappyCamper 00:11, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
You protected this, but the template is slightly broken. The word "expand" doesn't show up in the link. You should revert to the version about 4 edits back where "expand" does show up. Otherwise it looks really weird. Mangojuicetalk 05:10, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
Re: {{!}} I've added the {{hprotected}} marker to it to identify it. Use of this marker typically discourages unwieldly changes to the tempalte or protection (of course I caused lag by adding it, though one more edit is better than several more.). — xaosflux Talk 17:29, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
RE: AN
[edit]Regarding this section. I think some of the versions I accidentally restored were from February or March of this year... I think having to do with User:Musical Linguist's personal info. But there may have been others. And I'm not going to quit or anything over this, but she is a bit of a wikifriend, and if it was deleted for a reason, I would hate to be the one who restored harmful material. Other stuff harmful stuff may have been restored as well. How would you even go about finding which versions were previously deleted, but were restored? I emailed Brion in hopes he could help, but haven't received a response yet. Thanks for all your help though. --Mark Neelstin (Dark Mark) 15:46, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

RfC.
[edit]Re your comment on Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Tony_Sidaway_3, how is my response inflammatory when two admins are using bullying, insulting and attacking tactics to force me to change my signature? How is telling them they're attacking inflammatory? Their form of ordering me was inflammatory. There is no request (or even an explanation how images in signatures are discouraged) by them to change my sig, they were ordering and bullying. I don't see how that is excusable.
Am I supposed to remain absolutely calm like a robot while attacks are taking place from several sides? Do you know how unrealistic that is? Everyone has a breaking point, please consider this and take into account that I've been attacked almost nonstop by varying parties for about a week.
However, if you think I could've done something better, please do e-mail me (not post on my talk, I'm taking a Wikibreak - even from the RfC - for a while) as I do take constructive comments very seriously.
Thank you. — Nathan (Got something to say? Say it.) 06:46, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- I asked to be e-mailed for a reason - so that I would be notified of your comment immediately and we can discuss this rationally; however, it doesn't seem like you want to do that.
- I have stated my reasoning on my talk. I also stated I'm on Wikibreak. Please respect my request to use e-mail or don't comment on my talk. A wikibreak means "break from the wiki" in which comments will not be replied to in any timely manner. Thank you. — Nathan (Got something to say? Say it.) 07:14, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
