Hi, i have created a page for the charity I run. How do I publish it to Wikipedia for other people to see?

Empty categories
Hello, Qwerfjkl,
Thank you so much for tagging the empty categories! For years, I did this task every morning (U.S. time) but lately I've been getting to it later and later in the day and I didn't do it at all yesterday so today's list was twice as long. It's good that there is more than one person who checks this list. Typically, there are between 10-20 categories each day but it can get into the hundreds depending on what pages have been deleted so extra help is always welcome. It doesn't take a lot of time to do, but it's good to stay on top of so things don't pile up.
There are a few editors who create most of our categories who have asked not to be notified when a category they created has become empty and I can relay this information to you if you pick this up as a regular task and add it to your already crowded list of things you tend to on Wikipedia. Thanks again! Liz Read! Talk! 23:09, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
- No problem! I intend to keep patrolling Special:UnusedCategories, so a list of editors not to notify would be great. Thanks! ― Qwerfjkltalk 12:37, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- Pinging @Liz. (Or Wikipedia:Database reports/Empty categories.) ― Qwerfjkltalk 07:19, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll start thinking about that list. By the way, User:Qwerfjkl/scripts/unusedCategories.js is classified as an empty category so you might want to add in a colon somewhere on the page so that it isn't tagged for deletion. Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 23:41, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
- Oh, and yes, Wikipedia:Database reports/Empty categories is the page I use as it is compiled nightly (at least it's night for me) while Special:UnusedCategories is only compiled every 3 days. But, Special:UnusedCategories does have empty maintenance categories which for some reason are omitted on the Database report so that is a useful feature. Liz Read! Talk! 23:44, 8 December 2021 (UTC)

Tech News
- Because of the holidays the next issue of Tech News will be sent out on 10 January 2022.
Recent changes
- Queries made by the DynamicPageList extension (
<DynamicPageList>
) are now only allowed to run for 10 seconds and error if they take longer. This is in response to multiple outages where long-running queries caused an outage on all wikis. [1]
Changes later this week
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week or next week.
Future changes
- The developers of the Wikipedia iOS app are looking for testers who edit in multiple languages. You can read more and let them know if you are interested.
- The Wikimedia Cloud VPS hosts technical projects for the Wikimedia movement. Developers need to claim projects they use. This is because old and unused projects are removed once a year. Unclaimed projects can be shut down from February. [2]

Why NO BOTS
Hi, why did you add "NO BOTS"[3] after listing Category:Hexadecimal color redirects for renaming? It does not appear to be populated by a template. May I remove this code on WP:CFDW so that a bot will process the task? – Fayenatic London 12:18, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Fayenatic london: Okay. ― Qwerfjkltalk 12:40, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Fayenatic london: Shouldn't the category be at Category:Redirects from hexadecimal colors, not Category:Redirects from hexadecimal color ? ― Qwerfjkltalk 13:17, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
- Agreed, other categories of "Redirects from..." take a plural at the end of the name. I'll process that as remedial work. (WP:G6) – Fayenatic London 16:03, 23 December 2021 (UTC)

Copying Signatures
Hi, I wanted to tell you something. Here you moved my question from the Teahouse, along with the signatures, which I think you are not supposed to do according to @Nick Moyes what he said here. I am quoting the part- If you find complex advice helpful, you could always think about making another sandbox page just for table advice, and either link to the diff that it was given, or copy/paste the reply into your sandbox page, and split it up into different headings. If you do the latter, strip out the persons signature - or at the very least the date/time stamp, but make an edit summary crediting them when you copy it into your sandbox. This is called 'attribution' and helps credit other peoples work
. So, why did you then copy the stuff along with the signatures? Is it allowed in some cases? ― ItcouldbepossibleTalk 07:10, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
- Hi! It's fine to keep the signatures if you're just moving a discussion (otherwise it would be hard to understand). When you are testing something in a sandbox, you may alter something somebody said, which would give a false impression (at least I think that's the issue). ― Qwerfjkltalk 09:26, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarifying my doubt. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 11:25, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

RFA 2021 Completed
The 2021 re-examination of RFA has been completed. 23 (plus 2 variants) ideas were proposed. Over 200 editors participated in this final phase. Three changes gained consensus and two proposals were identified by the closers as having the potential to gain consensus with some further discussion and iteration. Thanks to all who helped to close the discussion, and in particular Primefac, Lee Vilenski, and Ymblanter for closing the most difficult conversations and for TonyBallioni for closing the review of one of the closes.
The following proposals gained consensus and have all been implemented:
- Revision of standard question 1 to
Why are you interested in becoming an administrator?
Special thanks to xaosflux for help with implementation. - A new process, Administrative Action Review (XRV) designed to review if an editor's specific use of an advanced permission, including the admin tools, is consistent with policy in a process similar to that of deletion review and move review. Thanks to all the editors who contributed (and are continuing to contribute) to the discussion of how to implement this proposal.
- Removal of autopatrol from the administrator's toolkit. Special thanks to Wugapodes and Seddon for their help with implementation.
The following proposals were identified by the closers as having the potential to gain consensus with some further discussion and iteration:
- An option for people to run for temporary adminship (proposal, discussion, & close)
- An optional election process (proposal & discussion and close review & re-close)
Editors who wish to discuss these ideas or other ideas on how to try to address any of the six issues identified during phase 1 for which no proposal gained are encouraged to do so at RFA's talk page or an appropriate village pump.
A final and huge thanks all those who participated in this effort to improve our RFA process over the last 4 months.
This is the final update with no further talk page messages planned.

It does not make any sense to mix singular and plural entries on the disambiguation page Lupae when the Lupa page already exists. News and updates for administrators from the past month (December 2021).
Interface administrator changes

- Following consensus at the 2021 RfA review, the autopatrolled user right has been removed from the administrators user group; admins can grant themselves the autopatrolled permission if they wish to remain autopatrolled.
- Additionally, consensus for proposal 6C of the 2021 RfA review has led to the creation of an administrative action review process. The purpose of this process will be to review individual administrator actions and individual actions taken by users holding advanced permissions.
- Following the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections, the following editors have been appointed to the Arbitration Committee: Beeblebrox, Cabayi, Donald Albury, Enterprisey, Izno, Opabinia regalis, Worm That Turned, Wugapodes.
- The functionaries email list (functionaries-enlists.wikimedia.org) will no longer accept incoming emails apart from those sent by list members and WMF staff. Private concerns, apart from those requiring oversight, should be directly sent to the Arbitration Committee.

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:International airports
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Category:International airports requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2011_November_15#Category:International_airports. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. ...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 18:09, 3 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello, Qwerfjkl,
Since you are tagging empty categories lately, I thought I'd let you know that there are a couple dozen categories that appear on the empty categories list that were emptied "out of process" and so I have reverted that editor's edits. So, these "People from" categories are no longer empty. I know that you would see that as soon as you opened the categories to tag them but I thought I'd let you know ahead of time that not all categories on this long list are actually empty and need to be tagged.
Thank you for your work! Liz Read! Talk! 02:25, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

Category:Azerbaijani sports venue stubs
Hello.
The Category:Azerbaijani sports venue stubs should not be deleted as being unpopulated, which is not the case, because the Template:Azerbaijan-sports-venue-stub exists since 2009, where many of them were added in the short Azerbaijani sports venue articles, but the complementary Category:Azerbaijani sports venue stubs for this stub was missing, until I created it this year. That is why it should stay. I put this paragraph in the Category talk:Azerbaijani sports venue stubs page, in case you wish to comment as well.

This means some gadgets can now be configured by administrators without needing the interface administrator permission, such as with the Geonotice gadget. [5]
- Gadgets can now specify page actions on which they are available. For example,
|actions=edit,history
will load a gadget only while editing and on history pages. [6] - Gadgets can now be loaded on demand with the

URL parameter. This can be used to replace an earlier snippet that typically looks likewithJS
orwithCSS

- The heading on the main page can now be configured using MediaWiki:Mainpage-title-loggedin for logged-in users and MediaWiki:Mainpage-title for logged-out users. Any CSS that was previously used to hide the heading should be removed. [9] [10]
- Four special pages (and their API counterparts) now have a maximum database query execution time of 30 seconds. These special pages are: RecentChanges, Watchlist, Contributions, and Log. Redirect to Bishop of Vienne
You've made quite a lot of redirects lately to Bishop of Vienne, but this is itself a redirect to Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vienne, so what you've actually done is to create a lot of double redirects. Could you go back and fix them? Not every request for redirects at AFC is particularly well-focussed, so you need to take care to double-check what is being requested. Thanks, Ingratis (talk) 21:30, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
- I see a bot has made the changes but I have doubts about some of these AFC redirects - not all of them are usable and this also a good way for an editor to bypass NPP scrutiny if they want to, so a bit of thought is a good thing. Ingratis (talk) 22:27, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Ingratis: I do check these redirects, I just leave fixing double redirects to EmausBot. As for the doubts you have, can you be more specific? I will G7 them if you give a reason why they should be deleted (or you can try RfD) ― Qwerfjkltalk 07:10, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks and sorry - I realised after I left the message that the bot will sort out the double redirects. As to the doubts, I've since left a message with the IP creator of the "bishop of Vienne" stubs, most of which are still at AFC: they're all translations from the fr-Wiki but unattributed, and they're being copied in such a way that the references, which are very fiddly anyway, are distorting the diacritics and losing the internet links - a lot of work to fix, which the creator should be doing. I don't think they need deleting but neither do I think they're ready to be moved into mainspace with that many issues still outstanding. Ingratis (talk) 07:21, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- (Bear with me - I've been up all night). As to the redirects, I don't think there are great issues, except that one or two are forms of name that won't be used in English, but I can pick those out later as I work through all the bishops of Vienne cleaning up. I've come across this editor before and know pretty much exactly what to expect! Ingratis (talk) 07:45, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Actually, can you G7 Vera of Vienne, which is nonsense - the man's name was Verus. Thanks, Ingratis (talk) 07:57, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

Recent changes
- When using WikiEditor (also known as the 2010 wikitext editor), people will now see a warning if they link to disambiguation pages. If you click "Review link" in the warning, it will ask you to correct the link to a more specific term. You can read more information about this completed 2021 Community Wishlist item.
- You can automatically subscribe to all of the talk page discussions that you start or comment in using DiscussionTools. You will receive notifications when another editor replies. This is available at most wikis. Go to your Preferences and turn on "Automatically subscribe to topics". [12]
- When asked to create a new page or talk page section, input fields can be "preloaded" with some text. This feature is now limited to wikitext pages. This is so users can't be tricked into making malicious edits. There is a discussion about if this feature should be re-enabled for some content types.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 18 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 19 January. It will be on all wikis from 20 January (calendar).

- Community Wishlist Survey 2022 continues. All contributors to the Wikimedia projects can propose for tools and platform improvements. The proposal phase takes place from 10 January 18:00 UTC to 23 January 18:00 UTC. Learn more.

Could I request that you not send me any empty category notifications? Thank you. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 19:02, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- I use a script, User:Qwerfjkl/scripts/unusedCategories. I'll try to prevent it notifying you. Ping me if you get any more talk notices. ― Qwerfjkltalk 20:25, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Starcheerspeaksnewslostwars: Fairly sure this won't notify you any more. Happy editing! ― Qwerfjkltalk 20:31, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
Question from Myles Seddit (10:48, 18 January 2022)
Can you help me add a reference? --Myles Seddit (talk) 10:48, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Myles Seddit: For general help, see Help:Referencing for beginners. If you give more detail, I'll try and give more specific help (e.g. URL, page etc.). ― Qwerfjkltalk 17:32, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
Barangay categories
Hello, Qwerfjkl,
It looks like you were not tagging these categories for deletion. I have mentioned the sudden emptying of categories on this subject at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines and they are having a discussion about both articles and categories on Barangays. But they are aware of what has been happening over the past few days and it's fine to tag them for CSD C1 deletion. Thank you for your work! Liz Read! Talk! 01:27, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- Is it okay if I just call you "Q"? Liz Read! Talk! 01:27, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- I don't mind. ― Qwerfjkltalk 07:07, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
Lower-case short description category
I made you a new toy to play with: Category:Pages with lower-case short description. Have fun! It will probably take days or weeks to populate fully, but you can feed the articles to your new script at whatever pace you want. – Jonesey95 (talk) 07:10, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

Question from Askmisspatience (18:20, 21 January 2022)
Thank you, Qwerfjkl. I need to gather info for a particular entry, but otherwise, there is nothing I need at the moment. Kind regards :) --Askmisspatience (talk) 18:20, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hi! Can you be more specific? What kind of info do you need, and for what entry? (Do you mean 'article'?) ― Qwerfjkltalk 21:45, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
Very strange search behavior or something funny happening
I put a complaint on ANI in Stonewalling on Talk:Julian_Assange and nothing seemed to be happening so I just did a search of "Stonewalling on Talk:Julian_Assange" to see if anyone referred to it and just your talk page came up with
User talk:Qwerfjkl
Third-party edit interpolates pejorative content to my post Stonewalling on Talk:Julian_Assange COI / SPA Vandalism account, likely of an already blocked
60 KB (0 words) - 21:45, 21 January 2022
But looking on this talk page I found nothing nor in the history since yesterday! Any idea what could be happening or is search just doing something very strange? Thanks. NadVolum (talk) 10:32, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- @NadVolum: My guess would be it is from #Administrative noticeboards (expand the 'discusssions' box at the top of the page), where I transcluded the sections from ANI. ― Qwerfjkltalk 10:49, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- Oh I see. Yes that would explain it okay. Thanks very much. NadVolum (talk) 12:48, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

Rename categories
Please see my proposal to speedily rename subcategories of Category:Enforced disappearances by country e.g. Category:Forced disappearances in Argentina to Category:Enforced disappearances in Argentina to align with the parent category per C2C. Hugo999 (talk) 04:21, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the question
There isn't anything I need at the moment. Thank you for asking. I'm gathering basic data for a non-profit client to add their wiki info and to be able to do so for an author page, etc. I'm looking at how other cities and organizations add their basic data. Will gather similar info to load per wiki guidelines. This process is all new, so not going to happen immediately. If there's a question will research the answer first. If I get stumped will ask for certain. Thank you for being a mentor. Askmisspatience (talk) 19:10, 23 January 2022 (UTC)

Village Pump question
Hi -- I just posted on Village Pump (technical), but I put it at the top of the page instead of the bottom. Is that why you moved it, or did I post on the wrong page? — DannyH (WMF) (talk) 21:38, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
