[edit]Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Quinnnnnby, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Draft:Asen Vasilev, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Hi Robert McClenon, thanks for the warm welcome! I think there is some sort of mix up, as there is no COI, I think it was just that I mentioned I had edited some similar pages on my user page. I have no affiliation to the subject of the article and the vast majority of what I have done is from the translation of the Bulgarian wikipedia page. I have added several sources now to back up the information. If you have any pointers of how the article could be made more neutral or improved in any way, it would be great if you could let me know and I'll make the changes as soon as I can. Thanks Quinnnnnby (talk) 17:23, 31 October 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Next Bulgarian parliamentary election, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Atanas Atanasov. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:08, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
May 2022
[edit]Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. – NJD-DE (talk) 20:04, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
Just a question
[edit]Just a quick question… how did you get the alleged results of the 2022 Northern Ireland Assembly Election before they came in? Like you updated the number of seats before the results came in live, just seems a bit suspicious to me that you seem to have inside (and sometimes false) knowledge about which parties get which seats before the counters of the votes do. As of writing this for example you have called 89 seats whereas the live results have only called 87. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7F:14B4:3400:A912:D4DC:1257:2D73 (talk) 18:12, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, I got them from the Ireland Elects site. They are faster at reporting the results than the BBC. However, they made a mistake earlier. Hope this explains things :) Quinby (talk) 18:20, 7 May 2022 (UTC)

Nigerian maps
[edit]Hi Quinby, your election maps are great so I wanted to ask about other potential maps you could make. As next year's 2023 Nigerian elections near, I'm asking you (and other good mappers) if you'd like to make some maps for the elections. There will be about three dozen executive elections (presidential and gubernatorial races) and another 40+ legislative elections (National and State assemblies); for these, a ton (100+) of maps could be made that could greatly expand wiki's Nigerian (and African) election coverage. Thanks for your consideration! Watercheetah99 (talk) 20:57, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

OrphanReferenceFixer: Help on reversion
[edit]Hi there! I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. Recently, you reverted my fix to Opinion polling for the 2023 Czech presidential election.
If you did this because the references should be removed from the article, you have misunderstood the situation. Most likely, the article originally contained both <ref name="foo">...</ref>
and one or more <ref name="foo"/>
referring to it. Someone then removed the <ref name="foo">...</ref>
but left the <ref name="foo"/>
, which results in a big red error in the article. I replaced one of the remaining <ref name="foo"/>
with a copy of the <ref name="foo">...</ref>
; I did not re-insert the reference to where it was deleted, I just replaced one of the remaining instances. What you need to do to fix it is to make sure you remove all instances of the named reference so as to not leave any big red error.
If you reverted because I made an actual mistake, please be sure to also correct any reference errors in the page so I won't come back and make the same mistake again. Also, please post an error report at User talk:AnomieBOT so my operator can fix me! If the error is so urgent that I need to be stopped, also post a message at User:AnomieBOT/shutoff/OrphanReferenceFixer. Thanks! SVGs
[edit]Heya! Could you upload versions of your beautiful election SVGs that have text that could be translated? Baking it into the SVG means we cannot use your gorgeous SVGs on other language versions easily. I would love to see your work spread to as many Wikipedias as possible :) Thanks! - Yupik (talk) 15:10, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Yupik, do you have any particular requests? I have been embedding the text to the SVG because otherwise Wikipedia can distort it, but I'm happy to upload ones with the text as separate files. Thanks Quinby (talk) 16:34, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
- I hear that; sometimes it can be so frustrating when it gets distorted! The one that I was thinking about recently was the file for the first round of the 2023 Czech presidential elections. The candidate names are fine being embedded (at least for Inari Sámi), but the other labels I would have to change. Thanks! -Yupik (talk) 18:56, 26 January 2023 (UTC)

Guatemalan general election graphic
[edit]Hi, thanks for the graph of the graphic on the 2023 Guatemalan general election. By the way, I would like to know what software do you use to make this graph? I would like to support other articles, but it is something that I am deeply unaware of. Greetings. Lord Maximoff (talk) 21:33, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Lord Maximoff Hi, I use RStudio primarily to code and generate the graphs. I also adapt them a bit in inkscape, though that is a minor step in the process. It takes quite a while to learn, but there's a lot of resources and github sites which have the code to help build these types of graphs. If you need any specific help, I'm happy to provide what I can (though my knowledge is quite limited). Regards, Quinby (talk) 21:51, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi. Thanks for your answer. I've been trying to make graphs with R, but they're still not good enough to put on Wikipedia.
- By the way, could you update the graph of Guatemala? please. Greetings. Lord Maximoff (talk) 17:02, 28 May 2023 (UTC)

Wokingham Borrough Council Election results
[edit]Please stop inputting incorrect data - the data is calulated on the actual results and is the precident across the board. Fluffball70 (talk) 16:58, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Fluffball70 Precedent across the board is a lie. Please see the following pages (just from this year, but other years have exactly the same pattern)
- 2024 Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council election
- 2024 Bristol City Council election
- 2024 Dorset Council election
- 2024 Basildon Borough Council election
- 2024 Cheltenham Borough Council election

- 2024 Stevenage Borough Council election
- 2024 Stroud District Council election
- 2024 Tunbridge Wells Borough Council election
- 2024 Worcester City Council election
- The sole page I could find which used the method you have imposed on the Wokingham page is Castle Point. Epping forest had the same, but it has had a disagreement over this. The other pages either didn't have results uploaded yet, or have not got percentages. Please explain where your precedent comes from. If this is not done in reasonable time, I will assume that there is no precedent and revert (and complete) the data. Also, the claim that the data is calculated on actual results is true, it is just working out what percentage of those who voted, voted for a particular candidate.
- Regards Quinby (talk) 17:39, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Fluffball70 Hi, just seen you made another edit justifying the claim and calling it 'standard'. Is it possible to reply here or on the talk page, as you bought it up? Quinby (talk) 20:08, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- I undersand that you want a different style of reporting using different numbers - and that is OK, but can I suggest it is done as an additon. Additions are good rather than overwriting..... Fluffball70 (talk) 20:41, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Fluffball70 not when this one page gives a completely different idea to casual browsers than others do. If one were to look through any page I have highlighted then go to that of Wokingham, they could reasonably get quite confused, as it shows the maximum a candidate gets as around 25%. One of the major stahlwartsof Wikipedia is its consistency. I understand your point, and if you disagree with the way things are formatted, that would require an RfC in the WikiProject for this. I do also note no effort has been made to provide evidence of precedent, which I explicitly asked for; unless such evidence has been provided, it seems impossible to uphold your prior arguments for keeping this in place. Regards Quinby (talk) 20:46, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

Hello. Re the seat numbers for this election, I suspect this brief summary is the situation after the usual Pakistani post-election tradition of independents joining a party shortly after being elected, hence the number of independents dropping from seven to one. The seat figures in the main ECP report (which I have made the ECP source for the results) match those in the FAFEN database. Cheers, Number 57 20:49, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Number 57 Hi, I don't see how this is consistent with the 2024 and 2018 elections; it seems like these include the 'Independents joined' section. I hadn't seen those numbers, so I would be happy to include that column so it reflects what the Assembly looked like in reality. Regards Quinby (talk) 22:44, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- I think the 'independents joined' column should be removed from tables where it is included, and the number of independents that joined a party after the election should be mentioned in the prose, as is done for National Assembly elections. IMO listing independents' seats together with a party's in a results table that also includes votes received (when voters voted for independent candidate), has the potential to be misleading or confusing to readers. In the 2018 elections the Balochistan Awami Party won 20 seats, not the 24 shown in the results table. Number 57 23:05, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Number 57 I can understand your qualms, but making such a change on one election undermines precedent. If you wish to create a new precedent, I would suggest changing 2002 to include the independents joined and bringing it up among the wikiproject talk page, or at least one of the pages with the key editors involved. Imposing a different system on one page may create confusion. Regards, Quinby (talk) 14:37, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- No problem, will bring it up on a Pakistan-related talk page. It seems such columsn were introduced to a few provincial election articles a year or two ago by one editor – the article series is an inconsistent mess of different styles... Number 57 01:00, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

Question about LOESS regression in poll charts
[edit]I like this chart: commons:File:2024 United States presidential election (Trump-Biden) polling.svg I am trying to learn LOESS regression. What value are you using for the span, α? Do you make span encompass the entire data, or something like 0.3 (30% of data)? Do you use linear or quadratic local fittings? HertzDonuts (talk) 17:52, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
- I see in the description you use a smoothing (α) of 0.25, but I'm still wondering what degree you use (linear or quadratic). It appears to me its probably quadratic. HertzDonuts (talk) 18:24, 21 May 2024 (UTC)
Opinion polling for 2026 Hungarian election
[edit]Hey!
About the Opinion polling for the 2026 Hungarian parliamentary election, I'm not saying your wrong or anything about your revert stating that "They are listed in order of their vote share in the previous election, and then from when they are first founded/polled if they didn't partake in the previous election". This wasn't done for the big 2024 South African general election opinion polls when the MK Party was founded (it was immediately slotted as the 3rd party when it created - as it was polling around 3rd quite comfortably). So I was just curious why wasn't that "rule" followed then? No one contested it, so that's why I moved TISZA closer to beginning of the Hungarian 2026 opinion polling table. - @ZlatanSweden10 Hi, I wasn't familiar with that case but I believe it goes against precedent. Splits or mergers can make things difficult so potentially it was down to that. I would point to pages like that of South Korea, Czechia, the Netherlands and Slovakia as just a few examples of popular parties that have been kept at the end. - I remember seeing those now. My bad. So South Africa was just an exception. ZlatanSweden10 (talk) 12:34, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
- @ZlatanSweden10 I believe it should also follow the rules, just no one has noticed it breaks them. Quinby (talk) 14:00, 15 June 2024 (UTC)

Hi Quinby, I'd like to add these polls https://www.ipsos.com/en-uk/james-cleverly-tops-list-who-would-make-good-tory-leader-3-in-5-say-they-dont-care https://inews.co.uk/news/politics/voters-lack-faith-tory-leadership-hopefuls-3221420 to the section, but there's many aspects of them, and I don't know how to best interpret it all. What do you think? Thanks, GhulamIslam (talk) 04:07, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- @GhulamIslam apologies for the delay in replying. I believe the BMG/i paper poll has been put in fine, I don't think we need to record the familiarity of voters. I may see if I can put in either the campaign section or the General Public polling section about apathy in the Ipsos one, as I believe approval ratings would be difficult. Next Portuguese election poll graph
[edit]Hi there CC @Quinby! I'm writing to you to see if you're available to make a graph for the next Portuguese election opinion poll page in the same way you did for the 2024 Portuguese election. The current graph hasn't been updated for some time now and I didn't receive a response from the user who made the current graph about possible changes to it. I will await your response, Best regards.Tuesp1985 (talk) 13:36, 12 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Tuesp1985, I messaged them on a different app and they have now updated. If for whatever reason they stop updating, I am happy to step in. Regards Quinby (talk) 17:25, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
- Right, thanks for your help @Quinby. Best regards Tuesp1985 (talk) 22:51, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
