Editor review

[edit]

Thanks for having requested an editor review. A month has passed since it has been posted there, and it has been archived. You can find it at Wikipedia:Editor review/Quentin Smith, where you may read last minute additions. We would really appreciate your help in reviewing a random editor. If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka 00:57, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Gallery of coats of arms of Yorkshire districts, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. iridescenti (talk to me!) 19:44, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Artemis Fowl WikiProject

[edit]

Hi. In the last month I have discovered the Artemis Fowl WikiProject and have slowly but surely been making progress. I have, however, noticed that no one else seems to be doing anything. So, it's as simple as this. Respond to this message, or your name gets removed from the participants list and I assume leadership of the WikiProject, because I will actually get something done. You have exactly 1 week, or 7 days, or 168 hours. They all mean the same thing.

However, please know that this is nothing personal against you. This is a generic message sent to every person on the participants list. Thanks for your co-operation. -007bond aka Matthew G aka codingmasters 10:49, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

THe reason why I want to assume leadership of the WikiProject is because I am the only person actually doing anything on the WikiProject. What good is a WikiProject with a leader who does jack all? -007bond aka Matthew G aka codingmasters 09:25, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Baltimore Light Rail succession boxes

[edit]

Hi there, are you the one adding station succession boxes for the Baltimore Light Rail? If so, thanks for the work -- I can't even begin to get my head around the syntax of the templates. I do want to suggest a change in color for the Penn-Camden line, which the MTA seems (for the moment) to be depicting on maps as red (see for instance [1]).

Also, I'm not sure why, but on the Penn Station page the name of this line is coming up as "Baltimore/Camden Shuttle", which is kind of odd. Technically, none of the lines have names, though if were going to have a name for this "Penn/Camden Shuttle" would be more appropriate. I think the ideal solution would just be to say "light rail" as with the other two lines on the Camden Yards page.

Anyway, sorry to be nitpicky -- like I said, I can't even figure out where to go in the template to fix this stuff, or else I'd just do it! --Jfruh (talk) 22:43, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Yes, like everything about the Maryland MTA, the map is not the easiest to understand, but all three lines stop at all those downtown stops.
Out of curiosity, how does one edit the complete list of termini and station shorthands? I went into Template:Baltimore Light Rail stations so that Penn Station didn't come up as just "Baltimore" (this is confusing as most Light Rail stops are in Baltimore) but the other termini didn't appear to be in that template, even though they come up on the succession boxes. --Jfruh (talk) 13:30, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of BWI Airport Light Rail Stop

[edit]

A tag has been placed on BWI Airport Light Rail Stop, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD A1.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. --Darkwind (talk) 04:22, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Student Recreation Center, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Student Recreation Center is a disambiguation page that only points to a single article, or no articles at all.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Student Recreation Center, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Berkshire coa.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Berkshire coa.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 20:48, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Portal:Portal

[edit]

I noticed you'd nominated Portal:Portal for speedy deletion a day after it was decided to be kept. Generally you can't speedily delete something that has survived an AfD (or MfD in this case), and I think that applies here even though it did get deleted in a prior AfD.

Just letting you know. :) - furrykef (Talk at me) 12:21, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I think we should just discuss this matter here so it'll be in one place, so I'll repeat the comment you posted on my talk page:
It has not been discussed at undeletion so it shouldn't have been recreated.
My response to that is, I'm not sure that's relevant anymore since it did survive a second MfD. The CSD page clearly states "If a page has survived a prior deletion discussion, it may not be speedily deleted, except in the case of newly discovered copyright infringements." It also states, "Where reasonable doubt exists, discussion using another method under the deletion policy should occur instead." The page surviving a second MfD certainly casts reasonable doubt that the page is worthy of deletion at all, let alone speedy deletion. I think that the page had been improperly re-created out of process is a minor detail. Yes, normally that's grounds for speedy deletion, but there's a reason for that guideline, and I don't think that reason applies here anymore. - furrykef (Talk at me) 12:51, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The page was recreated, not duplicated. The prior Portal:Portal was three lines of text and a template - more suited to the Wikipedia: namespace than to an actual portal. It was correctly deleted, but it would be incorrect to apply that decision to a completely different page. If you haven't seen a deleted page, please don't assume its replacement is the same. The article List of cities, towns, and villages in Hungary (N-Z) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

his is not used, as for A-M argument there. If it self confesses that the data is not reliable, there is little point having it., If tghis ans the A-M after consensus do not get deleted, will fix up with templates in Category:Hungarian geographical name templates. Seeking consensus.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Si Trew (talk) 00:47, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Quentin Smith,

Even if I am a pro Anglican, and you may already know but your Map "File:Anglican Communion corrected.gif" is incorrect. Not to say much more. Your map shows in Europe : Spain and Portugal painted in Blue. Both countries are Catholics and almost all the South American countries. They should be in red. 80.214.253.23 (talk) 10:49, 21 March 2010 (UTC) kisserge@hotmail.com 80.214.253.23 (talk) 10:49, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:S yorks.JPG, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

this non-free logo has been superceded by a free-to-use image at Wikimedia Commons, and is thus surplus to requirements

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:36, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of mottos, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Avon, West Midlands and Newman University (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 19:49, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

T:WPAF listed at Redirects for discussion

[edit]

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect T:WPAF to the page Wikipedia:WikiProject Artemis Fowl/Todo. Since you had some involvement with the T:WPAF redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Queen(')s Road Peckham

[edit]

I have started a discussion about redirects to Queens Road Peckham railway station and the road it is named for at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject London Transport#Queen(')s Road Peckham. As you have had involvement with one or more of the existing redirects, your comments are invited there. Thryduulf (talk) 21:46, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
