About GA nomination on Frozen (2013 film)
I apologise for not getting a consensus beforehand. I checked it against the criteria and felt that it should not be much to fix. Of course my judgement could be wrong, with my little experience. However, I cast the die, and I'll not simply leave it to be failed. Good luck editing! Forbidden User (talk) 15:15, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Question
Isn't it easier to revert or adjust a single change than to go hunting through a whole bunch of changes made in a single edit? I've seen people revert a bunch of edits at once when many changes were fine and they only objected to one or two, thereby creating a lot of back and forth and ill feelings. And most of the edits I'm making are just technical in nature anyway, like italicizing Daily Mail or making the date format consistent with the "Use mdy" at top. --209.122.114.237 (talk) 04:34, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Ferengi change
Hi Quenhitran!
Thank you for having such care for the pages. You messaged me concerning this change:
http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Ferengi&diff=prev&oldid=611251492
The only change I intended to make (I didn't see any others, did you?) was to correct the name of the Ferengi, Daimon Goss (was incorrectly listed as Gross).
As I'm not sure how to undo your undo of my change (that link to the sandbox is useful, thank you), I've made the same change again.
Thanks for watching! - Tom — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.164.164.76 (talk) 19:56, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

Foreign-language articles
Hi: Please do not tag articles for deletion simply because they are in a foreign language. It's explicitly listed as not a criterion for speedy deletion: see Wikipedia:Speedy deletions#Non-criteria, last item. You tagged പീരങ്കി for deletion and it was deleted. In this instance, no harm was done - the article is already on the Wikipedia in the language concerned (ml:പീരങ്കി - criterion A2) and we already have an article on the topic (Cannon - criterion A10). But unless they fall under either of those two criteria, please don't tag foreign-language articles for speedy deletion! It already had the correct tag asking for it to be translated from Malayalam and was posted at WP:Pages needing translation into English; these are the correct steps to follow with a foreign-language article you are unable to read and thus to evaluate, so that someone who can read the language can determine whether it's speediable. Sometimes they are in fact useful new articles but need to be translated. Yngvadottir (talk) 12:52, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King infobox
Hi, the reason why I undid 74.96.229.43's change [73] to the infobox of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King was because that change removed many items such as Music by, Cinematography, Studio, Running time, Language, etc. from the Infobox. Plus, since there is already a Cast section in the article, adding a huge list of names isn't necessary. Thank you.--Taderuer (talk) 12:29, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Nickname for Grand Junction, Colorado
It appears that you have undone my recent addition of "Ol' Grandy" as a nickname for Grand Junction, Colorado. The locals here very frequently refer to their city as Ol' Grandy, so I think it is fitting to add that name to the list of nicknames. Please allow my edit.

"Vandalism'
Hey Quenhitran, will you take it easy, please? There is no reason for you to call this edit vandalism. It may be wrong, or unverified, or misguided, or whatever, but it is not an intentional effort to disrupt the project (read the definition at WP:VANDAL). I have reverted your warning and will leave a note for the user, in hopes that you haven't pissed them off so much with your vandalism warning that they don't return. Drmies (talk) 17:20, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
- He pissed me of anyway. With this very polite comment. And after 3 time reverting and saying "go read the instructions first" but don't read them hisself. At last have the brains to read the source and that try to say sorry in this way with a very ecocentric touch. I believe i don not have to speak english to stand up for my copyrights. So very stupid comment and poor excuses for not have to say sorry because some of the comment is true (but it is even not like this). Vdkdaan (talk) 11:46, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

- When dragging an item, you will now see a line that helps you to drop it. [76] [77]
- You can now only move an image to the start of a paragraph, not to the middle of it, so you don't accidentally split it. [78] [79]
- You will now be warned if you add wikitext to file captions and references. [80] [81]
Future software changes
- You will no longer be able to upload files on wikis that do not have any copyright tags. [82] [83]
- CirrusSearch will be enabled as the primary search method on additional 70 new wikis, including Meta-Wiki and Wikimedia Incubator, during the next week. [84]
- CirrusSearch results will soon take into account categories, the first paragraph and the wikitext of a page. You will also be able to use regular expressions to search the wikitext. It will take a few days for the changes to be enabled on all wikis. [85]
- You will soon be able to watch translations for e-mail notifications without receiving an e-mail when they are reviewed by another translator. [86] [87]
- An IRC meeting to organize old high priority MediaWiki bug reports will take place on June 24 at 17:00 UTC on the channel #wikimedia-office on freenode (time conversion). [88]

Frozen/Spirited Away
Out of interest would it not be viable to keep the fact that Frozen took down Spirited Away as the highest grossing film in Japan?Corabal (talk) 10:47, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Corabal: I moved your fact to the Box office subheading, we don't include this detail in the lead section to keep it from getting too long. Nothing was removed. VisualEditor global newsletter—June 2014
Did you know?
The VisualEditor team is mostly working to fix bugs, improve performance, reduce technical debt, and other infrastructure needs. You can find on Mediawiki.org weekly updates detailing recent work.
- They have moved the "Keyboard shortcuts" link out of the "Page options" menu, into the "Help" menu. Within dialog boxes, buttons are now more accessible (via the Tab key) from the keyboard.
- You can now see the target of the link when you click on it, without having to open the inspector.
- The team also expanded TemplateData: You can now add a parameter type "
date"
for dates and times in the ISO 8601 format, and "boolean"
for values which are true or false. Also, templates that redirect to other templates (like{{citeweb}}
→{{cite web}}
) now get the TemplateData of their target (bug 50964). You can test TemplateData by editing mw:Template:Sandbox/doc. - Category: and File: pages now display their contents correctly after saving an edit (bug 65349, bug 64239)
- They have also improved reference editing: You should no longer be able to add empty citations with VisualEditor (bug 64715), as with references. When you edit a reference, you can now empty it and click the "use an existing reference" button to replace it with another reference instead.
- It is now possible to edit inline images with VisualEditor. Remember that inline images cannot display captions, so existing captions get removed. Many other bugs related to images were also fixed.
- You can now add and edit
{{DISPLAYTITLE}}
and__DISAMBIG__
in the "Page options" menu, rounding out the full set of page options currently planned. - The tool to insert special characters is now wider and simpler.
Looking ahead
The VisualEditor team has posted a draft of their goals for the next fiscal year. You can read them and suggest changes on MediaWiki.org.
The team posts details about planned work on VisualEditor's roadmap. You will soon be able to drag-and-drop text as well as images. If you drag an image to a new place, it won't let you place it in the middle of a paragraph. All dialog boxes and windows will be simplified based on user testing and feedback. The VisualEditor team plans to add autofill features for citations. Your ideas about making referencing quick and easy are still wanted. Support for upright image sizes is being developed. The designers are also working on support for viewing and editing hidden HTML comments and adding rows and columns to tables.
Supporting your wiki
Please read VisualEditor/Citation tool for information on configuring the new citation template menu, labeled "⧼visualeditor-toolbar-cite-label⧽". This menu will not appear unless it has been configured on your wiki.
If you speak a language other than English, we need your help with translating the user guide. The guide is out of date or incomplete for many languages, and what's on your wiki may not be the most recent translation. VisualEditor can be made available to most non-Wikipedia projects. If your community would like to test VisualEditor, please contact product manager James Forrester or file an enhancement request in Bugzilla.

DYK for Frozen (2013 film)
On 26 June 2014, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Frozen (2013 film), which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Frozen is currently the highest-grossing animated film of all time, and the fifth highest-grossing film? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Frozen (2013 film). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000.
