Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring or abuse of multiple accounts.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Do not use talk pages as discussion or forum pages as Wikipedia is not a forum.
The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! [edit]Hello, I'm Turtlewong. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Amhara people have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help Desk. Thanks. Turtlewong (talk) 12:31, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
- I did not vandalise. Please do not falsely accuse me. Are you an administrator? Pushkinalex (talk) 04:19, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
- Any editor can add such warnings. Doug Weller talk 12:40, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
Please do not remove sourced information simply because you disagree
[edit]Woldemichael Solomon is from the Hazega clan. I've replaced that with an academic source. Doug Weller talk 12:42, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
- Hazega is a village in Eritrea and yes the villagers are of the same background but in Eritrea the term "clan" is not used even if the English source mistranslated or used English terms for Eritrean Tigrinya naming conventions. Pushkinalex (talk) 17:55, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
- We have to go by what reliable sources say about a subject. As this is the English Wikipedia, it's not surprising we use English terms. Doug Weller talk 13:12, 3 September 2018 (UTC)
Your "Split discussion"
[edit]Only the notice belongs on the article page, not your argument. That belongs only in the new discussion thread at the bottom of the talk page, and not at the top of the talk page as well. Doug Weller talk 12:43, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
- Ok Thanks, I wasn't sure but the template description made that I could write the proposal there.Pushkinalex (talk) 17:56, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
Please assume good faith
[edit]See WP:AGF. Your comment in the split discussion suggests that editors who disagree with you might not be honest. Such comments should be avoided. Doug Weller talk 12:44, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
- I made no comments accusing anyone of being dishonest. My split discussion is exactly about what has transpired on the two articles hence why I am requesting a split. However, did Turlewong assume good faith when he accused me of vandalising?Pushkinalex (talk) 17:51, 2 September 2018 (UTC)
