[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 118th United States Congress, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Spencer Cox. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

- For improvements, do you mean in the article's content or its format? If you mean its content, I'm afraid I can't offer much assistance, as I have no clue who this person is. If you mean format, as far as I can tell, I don't see anything that needs to be improved.
This may not be what you're looking for, but I hope this can help in some way. PrusBis6187 (talk) 05:24, 12 July 2023 (UTC)- The IP spammed messages like this to a couple of dozen user talk pages. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 07:32, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
Creating maps of voter turnout
[edit]I've seen some of the maps that you've created and I would greatly appreciate learning how to connect the data to a map, similar to some of the maps you've created at the state and local level for voting and other such data. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Alansohn (talk) 20:40, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
- If you've seen enough Wikipedia election maps, you've probably noticed that vote percentages for the winning parties of counties or other subdivisions are in ten-percent increments (50-60%, 70-80%, etc.). To connect the data to the map, I use Inkscape (which is free to download). I have a screenshot of the Wikipedia percentage colors next to the map, and, after gathering the percentages for each county, I select each county, filling them in by clicking on the correct color from the screenshot with the eyedrop tool. In terms of how I get the map into Inkscape properly, that would depend on what kinds of maps you would be interested in making yourself. If you click on my username, my main page should have a link to a Twitter thread I made about creating election maps with old county borders (the process for doing that is much more complicated than it will likely be for most maps, but this thread still has fairly useful general information). Let me know if I need to clarify anything. PrusBis6187 (talk) 00:54, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
- This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much for the answer, and for devoting so much time to preparing the tutorial. Alansohn (talk) 02:20, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
- No problem! If there is anything you find yourself confused about as you're trying to make maps yourself, just let me know. Good luck! PrusBis6187 (talk) 02:23, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Election maps
[edit]Hey there. I noticed that you have uploaded maps of historical county boundaries of several U.S. states. Would you be able to give me a step by step process of how to do this so that I can use these maps to update election maps? Thanks. ZackCarns (talk) 14:17, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- If you go to my user page, I have a link there to a Twitter thread I made to describe exactly how to do that. PrusBis6187 (talk) 20:37, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, great! Thanks!
- a ZackCarns (talk) 20:40, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- I do have one question. Do you have a list for the recommended projections for each state? I have been able to do everything except figure out the proper projection for each state. That is the only part that I struggle with this. ZackCarns (talk) 02:10, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
- In the tutorial, I mention that I usually choose NAD83 HARN projections. For states that have multiples of those, I just sort of select the one that "feels" or looks better (such as if that projection is more in the center of the state). PrusBis6187 (talk) 16:14, 7 April 2024 (UTC)
