[edit]Hello, I'm LaundryPizza03. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Lawn seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 02:03, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
- hi, you recently removed one of my posts and I wanted to get more specifics about why since your message was vague. I have to create posts for an assignment in one of my classes and I was using an article that we had read to create my post. I can share the details of my assignment if that would help you understand why I posted what I did.
- if you do not agree that my post should be up could you at least point me in the direction of where I can see what I had written... i spent a lot of time adding my citations to my work and would like to see where all that work went PrestotheUnicorn (talk) 03:36, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
- Please refrain from wholly deleting parts of an article, and instead build on what already exists. Additionally, you should advise your instructor to contact Wikipedia:Education program. I have left more information in the welcome message below. Wracking talk! 05:21, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
- @PrestotheUnicorn, you can see what you had written in the edit history of any article, or by looking at your Contributions here: [1]. For example, here's what you wrote on Lawn: [2]. -- asilvering (talk) 05:35, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
- @PrestotheUnicorn: can you ask your instructor to reach out to Wiki Education for support? They can visit teach.wikiedu.org for more information, or email us at contactwikiedu.org. We're happy to help instructors better create assignments that meet their educational goals while still following Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Please ask your instructor to reach out. --LiAnna (Wiki Ed) (talk) 17:28, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
- @PrestotheUnicorn, I want to let you know that I have outlined some possible issues with your contributions. You can see the post at Talk:Lawn. Thanks, Wracking talk! 05:57, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
Student user
[edit]Hello, PrestotheUnicorn! Welcome to Wikipedia! It appears that you are here to participate in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we highly encourage you to go through our training page that's specifically created and catered for students such as yourself:
If you need help, check out Wikipedia's page for questions. You can also ask me by visiting my user talk page and leaving a message, or you can ask your question on this page by editing it and placing {{Help me}}
before your question. Please make sure that you sign your messages on discussion pages, which is done by entering four tildes (~~~~) at the very end of it; this will automatically insert your username and the date. I also highly recommend that you review the advice for students page.
Before you create an article, make sure that you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.
Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one, please tell your instructor about creating one. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}}
on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know that the article is a subject of an educational assignment as well as aid your communication with them.
Here are some more pages that you might find helpful:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page (editing policy)
- Introduction to Wikipedia
- Help pages index
- Visual editor tutorial
- Wikitext tutorial (if you're choosing to edit pages using the Wikitext source code instead of the VisualEditor)
- Wikitext cheatsheet
While editing:
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Be bold, but do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- No edit warring or abuse of multiple accounts.
- Provide reliable sources to the content you add. If you are adding biomedical information, please follow this guideline.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay with us as a member of the community - even after your assignment is finished. Your time, energy, and your contributions will be highly valued and appreciated among us.
