Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Pattaya, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! We embrace a wide range of citation styles. References should be inlined, i.e. stand near the fact they support, not loosely listed at the page bottom. It is strongly recommended to use the style that is already adopted on a given page, but non-conventional referencing is often accepted from newcomers (e.g. bare urls - they should just stand next to the fact). Hello, PotatoNinja123! I accidentally clicked on your user page at the Teahouse and saw what you have written about wanting to use userboxes. Wikipedia:Userboxes contains details concerning this, such as how to use them and sort them (at Wikipedia:Userboxes#Grouping userboxes. A complete list of userboxes is at Category:Userboxes. Gacy alias

[edit]

Hi. I respect your integrity. Gacy is known, sadly, for the crimes he committed; not his charitable work or civic generosity. His aliases are those given by the public/media. I do understand the clown aspect links loosely with it, but it's his being a clown that killed that is his given alias, not the clown persona he was known by prior to the discoveries at his property. I guess you have a point -PotatoNinja123 (talk) 02:11, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. I have noted what consensus on true crime articles on Wiki. states is an alias. Best regards. :)--Kieronoldham (talk) 02:14, 27 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Edit to Prince Harry

[edit]

Why are the orders bestowed onto Harry's uncle Prince Edward, who is a member of the Royal Victorian Order like Harry, included in his style and title, but not in Harry's? Just because the "website" says so? I'm not trying to be rude, I just want to know why you think it's not correct to be included in Harry's style and title. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GabbyBU (talkcontribs) 16:12, 5 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pending changes

[edit]

Please don't accept pending changes that add unsourced material, especially personal information, to biograpahy articles as you did at here. In order for religion to be included in an article it needs to be supported by reliably sourced article content, there needs to be evidence of self-identification, and it needs to be relevant (see WP:BLPCAT). Pending changes was enabled on this article to prevent the type of edits you approved, so please be careful when reviewing changes. Hi, regarding your edit to the Jack U page - do you have a reliable source for "To U" being the next single from the album? I haven't seen it mentioned by either of the artists so I've reverted your edit for the time being, if you can provide a reference I'd be grateful! Thanks. --ItsLuke (contribs) 19:20, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Depends on the reliability of the uploader, but sure I'd appreciate a YouTube link. I'm aware that the song was added to a 1Xtra playlist but haven't heard anything about it being confirmed as a single. --ItsLuke (contribs) 17:22, 16 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Bots

[edit]

You are receiving this message because a technical change may affect a bot, gadget, or user script you have been using. The breaking change involves API calls. This change has been planned for two years. The WMF will start making this change on 30 June 2015. A partial list of affected bots can be seen here: https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-l/2015-June/081931.html This includes all bots that are using pywikibot compat. Some of these bots have already been fixed. However, if you write user scripts or operate a bot that uses the API, then you should check your code, to make sure that it will not break.

What, exactly, is breaking? The "default continuation mode" for action=query requests to api.php will be changing to be easier for new coders to use correctly. To find out whether your script or bot may be affected, then search the source code (including any frameworks or libraries) for the string "query-continue". If that is not present, then the script or bot is not affected. In a few cases, the code will be present but not used. In that case, the script or bot will continue working.

This change will be part of 1.26wmf12. It will be deployed to test wikis (including mediawiki.org) on 30 June, to non-Wikipedias (such as Wiktionary) on 1 July, and to all Wikipedias on 2 July 2015.

If your bot or script is receiving the warning about this upcoming change (as seen at https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages ), it's time to fix your code!

Either of the above solutions may be tested immediately, you'll know it works because you stop seeing the warning.

Do you need help with your own bot or script? Ask questions in e-mail on the mediawiki-api or wikitech-l mailing lists. Volunteers at m:Tech or w:en:WP:Village pump (technical) or w:en:Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard may also be able to help you.

Are you using someone else's gadgets or user scripts? Most scripts are not affected. To find out if a script you use needs to be updated, then post a note at the discussion page for the gadget or the talk page of the user who originally made the script. Half Life 3

aparently this is how i talk to people on wikipedia but if i wanted to make a half life 3 article would it be shot down considering the game will never exist? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spiral knights is the best game ever (talkcontribs) 03:47, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Probably... Unless you have definitive proof that the game might actually come out. And I know you're just trying to be funny or whatever, but such behaviour isn't tolerated on wikipedia. Continuing to do so will likely result in a temporary or permanent ban. -PotatoNinja(Talk to me!) 03:51, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Submission declined for not notable company

[edit]

Dear Sir/Madam, you just declined my submission Draft:B.Open for not be notable. Among the others I have 3 completely independent sources about this company. (1 from the European Commission (ref n3), 1 from an independent professional (ref n2) and 1 from a Greek B2B portal (ref n5)). Furthermore, I am talking about a company which has developed their own proprietary software developing platform with a published academic paper (ref n1). Do you still consider this that it does not meet the notability rules of wikipedia? Please let me know how I could improve my article further. Thanks a lot for your time. User:Antpetsas Talk to me! 10:38, 3 June 2015 (UTC+3)

@Antpetsas: Honestly I thought the article was fairly close, however you're probably going to need more references that describe the subject with more depth. Some of the sources simply mention subject without really invoking too much information. I would recommend references to reviews or notable news stories, and keep in mind that 3 third-party sources generally won't cut ut. [edit]

Drsomduttprasad (talk) 08:37, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Moderator,

Please let us know the reasons for declining our Article.

@Drsomduttprasad: The article includes no in-line citations whatsoever, and most, if not all references are in some way affiliated with the subject. The sources also need to show why the subject is notable. So I suggest you add references to press releases or any third party source that must support a statement made in the article. Also the article appears to be contained within a box, which isn't standard for wikipedia articles. -PotatoNinja(Talk to me!) 09:43, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi PotatoNinja, can you help me to write the page again? Thank you very much. --Keepitdark69 (talk) 10:06, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Keepitdark69: The main issue I with this article is that the references did not include enough secondary sources to establish the subject's notability, rather than the article quality. And to be honest, like many other users working on wikipedia, I have other things to do and I may not be able to help too much with the matter at hand. I might get around to it. New pages

[edit]

HI PotatoNinja, I see you declined to me all the pages again, CSM Suceava has 5 references. it is a team from my childhood city. why do you declined it ? you do not know romanian to can confirm, and no other people can confirm better then mine. other wikipedia languages has it, but I want to improve English wikipedia and people like you declined my work. Also with 1938–39 Cupa României it is the next edition of 1937–38 Cupa României, It is a cup cmpetition, at least of games played. thats it. again why declined ?? the last edition created by something else has been accepted, and it looks same like mine, of course different games. Alexiulian25 (talk) 13:58, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Alexiulian25: Before you decide to act all stubborn or whatnot, you should properly read through all of wikipedia policies and guidelines when submitting articles similar to the one you recently created. I was just suggesting that you add more references to establish the subject's notability and simply make it easier to verify. And just because the page already exists on a separate project or similar pages are floating about the mainspace doesn't mean that the article is worthy of a place in wikipedia. Take your time to cite more sources and resubmit it when you think you're ready. -PotatoNinja(Talk to me!) 14:07, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Alexiulian25 (talk) 14:10, 26 July 2015 (UTC)There are no more references about it ! what you do not understand. and what about 1938–39 Cupa României, perfect identical with last editions and not accepted. in this way english wikipedia will not progress ...[reply]

@Alexiulian25: And that's the issue. Without any more sources (from press releases etc.), you can't really show how the subject is even notable. If you really do believe the article is suitable for Wikipedia in its current state then go ahead, submit it for review, and see what the other editors think. -PotatoNinja(Talk to me!) 14:38, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Alexiulian25 (talk) 14:49, 26 July 2015 (UTC)there are loads of articles with no references and with 3 words in and are accepted. it is not fair. and the English editors are really difficult, in my language wikipedia every article is accepted. like this you will never progress[reply]

@Alexiulian25: I see where you're coming from. However all of these apparent articles really are under-par, and haven't necessarily been checked by any reviewers. Technically speaking, these articles, especially if they are biographies, are worthy of deletion. So essentially you can create an article straight into the mainspace (without my consent) and we potentially wouldn't even be having this conversation. However the whole point of AFC is so more experienced users can give their own insight into articles created and judge whether the article is worthy of a place in Wikipedia, and if you really do believe that the article you created is suitable, then follow the guidelines (or at least give it a try.) -PotatoNinja(Talk to me!) 14:58, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thank you for taking the time to review my recent submission for https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Make_It_Cheaper

I feel as though I am close to getting this right. You said "Some sections and statements still remain unreferenced, so make sure you provide reliable secondary sources to support them"

Could you clarify which sections or statements you are referring to please? Would references to reviews type sites help? I have added a couple more references as well if this helps.

Thanks,

smustieles

@Smustieles: Well if I use my own submission as an example, almost every single sentence or statement is supported by one or more secondary source. This ideally should be the case with all articles, however it isn't. A statement made in your article such as "In Australia, the company specialises purely in energy" could easily be supported by a source. -PotatoNinja(Talk to me!) 13:20, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

49.207.187.42 (talk) 14:52, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

sir,

I kindly request you to re-review the 'Suresh Manickavelu' article. He is a well known person in Chennai. This page was not created to promote Mr. Suresh Manickavelu. The given information in the draft article is true. You can find the references in the New Indian Express news coverage. He is the founder of the educational foundation named Vizhi. Most of the college students knew Mr.Suresh Manickavelu and his social service. In 2015, he has received the ‘Best Young Entrepreneur of the year 2014’ award from the Governor of Tamil Nadu, Dr.Konijeti Rosaiah, for his contribution to the students society for creating India’s first online mentoring Portal named Procademia. Please check the link in the references. He is a philanthropist who is sponsoring almost 100 young children every year by providing them food and education. Recently 'Udavum Karangal' Vidyakar praised him that Suresh Manickavelu is a god's gift to this world.

@49.207.187.42: Keep in mind that the vast majority of the article is completely unsourced, which doesn't show the subject's notability. Also realistically Wikipedia doesn't care whether he is an important figure in your own local community or whatever; what is important (to Wikipedia) is referenced information, particularly with references to neutral, unaffiliated sources. -PotatoNinja(Talk to me!) 16:39, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

On Mourvèdre and "denominación de origen"

[edit]

You just reverted an edit I did minutes ago on the Mourvèdre article. While it was indeed very minor and it "didn't appear constructive to [you]", it is not less true that denominación de origens, as it stands, is gramatically wrong in Spanish. de origen is a prepositional clause that completes the noun denominación. The plural must be expressed in the noun; the prepositional clause does not agree with the number (and gender) of the main clause.

As far as I know, English Wikipedia attempts to use foreign terms in the gramatically correct form of their original language, at least when there is not a reason to do otherwise.

@83.213.80.19: Honestly this was certainly an error on my own part; I was skimming through pages while using huggle (an anti-vandalism program) and the text you entered looked a lot like a random assortment of letters, which is why I came to the conclusion that it constituted as vandalism. I'll be more careful next time. -PotatoNinja(Talk to me!) 16:33, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cemerson, thanks and resubmitted

[edit]

Dear PotatoNinja, thank you for reviewing my first attempt to create a page! I've diligently worked to strengthen my citations in accordance with Wikipedia's strict guidelines and resubmitted American Gothic (composition) for approval. I hope my citations are now in compliance with the guidelines!

@Cemerson: I've reviewed the article again and published it as a stub. Just because I just published it doesn't mean that it's completely perfect, which it certainly isn't. Continue to add whatever information and hopefully one day it will be nominated for good article status. Good work. -PotatoNinja(Talk to me!) 08:39, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Now I'm confused. His references are at least comparable to those of his colleagues. See, for example, Anson Phelps Stokes, Francis Bowes Sayre, etc, and if you search Wikipedia for "Episcopal Bishop" you will get quite a few hits for other pages for his colleagues whose entries carry no greater notability. Please advise.

Tspofford (talk) 00:30, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Tspofford: Well it appears that the article has already been accepted. @Keepitdark69: It all depends on whether the subject is notable or not. If you supply neutral, secondary sources to support relevant information, then I would probably say he deserves a place in Wikipedia. Just keep in mind that the fact that he has released several albums on Amazon does not have much relevance. Hell, I could do the same thing and claim I was famous (which I'm not.) -PotatoNinja(Talk to me!) 11:39, 29 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Major Lazer discography, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Wizkid. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

June 2016

[edit]

Please do not report the future on Wikipedia, fictional or "live" tennis rankings as you did on Kiki Bertens. The WTA (and ATP) rankings ony get updated on Mondays, they are not updated every day or after every match. So until the rankings get updated on Monday, the June 3 rankings are still the ones from May 23. Always check the official WTA rankings before you update them on Wikipedia. Thank you.—J. M. New deal for page patrollers

[edit]

Hi PotatoNinja,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article LSM Launch Coaster (Vekoma) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This is not how disambiguation works; none of these roller coasters are named "LSM Launch Coaster (Vekoma)"

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Tavix (talk) 19:23, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
