Autobiography

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.Clovis Sangrail (talk) 12:33, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Carmel Borg

[edit]

Hello Pmay1,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Carmel Borg for deletion, because it's too short to identify the subject of the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. SuperHero👊 13:55, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article Carmel Borg has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. -- GB fan 14:24, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Postcolonial Directions in Education requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.um.edu.mt/pde/index.php/pde1/about/editorialPolicies#focusAndScope. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Postcolonial Directions in Education requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

A tag has been placed on Postcolonial directions in education, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 06:43, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • From what I can see, your main reason for being here is to write about yourself and people or topics associated with you. You've been warned that editing on topics related to yourself is highly discouraged and I also see that you've repeatedly tried to re-create an article for a journal that you're involved with, despite it being repeatedly deleted as a promotional article, in various different formats and locations. This gives off the impression that you were trying to avoid detection. You were also warned about posting content taken from somewhere else and your response was incredibly flippant. Wikipedia cannot accept content taken from somewhere else unless the content is hosted in a place that has marked the content as fair use or unless permissions are filed through WP:OTRS. Permission cannot be granted, nor ownership of the material approved, via a statement on a talk page. The reason for this is that we have no way of verifying that you are who you claim to be or that you hold the rights to the material and we've had people claim this in the past, only to discover that they weren't who they claimed to be and/or that they didn't hold the rights to the posted content. It's an extremely serious topic on Wikipedia because there are legal repercussions that can come from the site containing copyrighted material. Odds are high that you likely are the copyright holder, but Wikipedia cannot take that chance. It's usually a bad idea to post content from elsewhere because in most cases, the content is written in order to promote the topic or a specific viewpoint - which makes the article appear biased. Now it's possible that you could be unblocked, but you have to agree to or show that you understand the following:
  1. You will not directly edit any articles that relate to yourself, people you are associated with, journals that you edit, or similar topics where you would post about things that you have a direct conflict of interest with.
  2. You will not try to re-create any articles for topics that you have a conflict of interest with, such as the journal.
  3. You will not post any content previously published elsewhere unless the content is marked as fair use elsewhere or proper permissions have been filed.
  4. That you will not add any content that comes across as promotional.
The biggest thing I need to impress upon you is that you will not edit anything that directly relates to yourself. If you wanted to edit generally on a topic that you're familiar with you can, but you cannot edit an article to add content that was written by yourself, one of your direct colleagues (or someone you're closely affiliated with), or material published through your journal. The problem with your editing is that you've really only made COI edits and you were warned about this in 2010 - and seem to have ignored this warning. Proposed deletion of Carmel Borg

[edit]

The article Carmel Borg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

seems to fail WP:NACADEMICS at this time

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. only (talk) 03:11, 30 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
