Your request for rollback

Hi Pingumeister. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Beeblebrox (talk) 16:33, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

Thanks! -- Pingumeister(talk) 21:11, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

Changes to Igor Girkin

Many things use DD-MM-YYYY or MM-DD-YYYY, but YYYY-MM-DD ought to be preferred because it has the least national bias. Dustin (talk) 17:09, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

What I mean is, that makes up another part of my reasoning changing the formatting. It took like twenty minutes due to being required to change them manually. Dustin (talk) 17:12, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
DD Month YYYY is used in related articles such as Donetsk People's Republic, Federal State of Novorossiya and MH17 (somewhat related). And I'm sorry your consistency edit took so long Dustin V. S., but mine also took 15–20 minutes to complete. -- Pingumeister(talk) 17:25, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
Was it the fact that didn't write out the month? Dustin (talk) 17:27, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
@Dustin V. S.: Personally, I think writing out the month looks nicer, but personal preference isn't the problem here. YYYY-MM-DD doesn't seem to be very standard. Most featured articles don't appear to use numeric months (don't quote me on that though, I sampled randomly). And again, Igor Girkin only used YYYY-MM-DD in automatic reflinks citations. The properly formatted citations (which constituted nearly half of the citations in the article) used DD Month YYYY, making that the standard in the article. -- Pingumeister(talk) 17:40, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Mbah Gotho, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Indonesian. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

New page reviewer granted

Hello Pingumeister. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog (around 13,500 pages) down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. -- Samtar talk · contribs 14:43, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Đặng Anh Tuấn

Hi Pingumeister I apologize but I am unsure why Đặng Anh Tuấn is tagged for deletion. The article should meet WP:NFOOTY as the subject has played multiple times in a fully professional league (V.League 1). The fact that he played in it is backed up by the soccerway reference in the article. The article should meet the WP:GNG as a result and if it doesn't please let me know why. Thank you Inter&anthro (talk) 20:51, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

Sorry, my mistake, have removed the tag. Very new to that particular guideline! -- Pingumeister(talk) 20:55, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
No problems, I bear some of the responsibility too as the initial article isn't the best and I only put in one reference. Inter&anthro (talk) 20:57, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

Your proposed deletion of Kerry Lee Crawford

I'm really confused why you took a brand new article that does not meet WP:N and is completely unsourced to AfD. You'd be better of closing the AfD and nominating the article for speedy deletion.  {MordeKyle  00:05, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

Please re-read WP:A7 carefully and see my reply at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kerry Lee Crawford -- Pingumeister(talk) 14:53, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

Final Problem Review

Sorry, I just wanted to say I only removed it because I thought it would be easier to wait until a consensus had been reached rather than trying to start any sort of edit war. Sorry if it was any trouble -124.188.232.125 (talk) 00:21, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

No worries – I didn't assume it was removed maliciously. Cheers. -- Pingumeister(talk) 00:50, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
I appreciate that, the other anon seemed to believe it was some kind of personal attack.

Pangasinan Solid North Transit, Inc.

Hi. Just a tip. When an article has no content, look at the history. If it has been blanked by the original author (and no-one else has made any content addition - typos, cats and such don't count). tag it G7 one author request rather than 'no content'. It can make a difference later to subsequent versions of the article. Also, if it's not blanked, it can be that the newbie has managed to get the whole content inside reference markers, or inside 'comment' markers. In that case, it should be tidied up so it's readable. Peridon (talk) 16:29, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

Oh crap, sorry about that. Will be more careful in future, cheers. -- Pingumeister(talk) 16:43, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

removing content without explanation - cats?, me?

It's not clear whether the comment "Please stop removing content without explanation" in this edit is aimed at me. I have removed a few categories lately with a very generic message - and could easily have made a mistake. If you think one of my removals was wrong, please let me know explicitly - which one, and why. Mitch Ames (talk) 02:30, 24 January 2017 (UTC)

Sorry for the confusion - was aimed at the previous two editors there! -- Pingumeister(talk) 10:01, 24 January 2017 (UTC)

LiteSpeed Web Server Logo Removal

Hi Pingumeister,

Could you please comment on [change] you made? We believe the new logo complies with the guidelines -- it is simple and it is in public domain.

Dmitri tikhonov (talk) 12:45, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

I am not a frequent Commons user but I believe some verification of the logo's licensing is required. Cheers, -- Pingumeister(talk) 11:29, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
Additionally, that is a company logo, not a product logo. I don't think it belongs in the product's article. It doesn't serve a purpose beyond branding, which is not appropriate for an encyclopaedia. -- Pingumeister(talk) 11:31, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
Thank you -- we'll work on it. Dmitri tikhonov (talk) 11:52, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

Further Guidance Request

Hello Pingumeister,

I plan to make what I think are uncontroversial changes to two LiteSpeed Web Server-related articles:

  1. LiteSpeed Web Server: This web server's market share has now grown to 3%. In addition, a new version has been released.
  2. Template:Web_server_software: I would like to add LiteSpeed Web Server link to this template.

Do you think I'd be in violation of any WP:Guidelines were I to make these changes?

Thank you for your help. Dmitri tikhonov (talk) 13:26, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

Hey @Dmitri tikhonov: I don't know what the consensus is regarding reliability of W3Techs surveys, but since they're already used in the article for now, go ahead. The template addition sounds fine. Cheers. -- Pingumeister(talk) 17:14, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
Thank you, will do. -- Dmitri tikhonov (talk) 13:41, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

Coast Rice listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Coast Rice. Since you had some involvement with the Coast Rice redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. -- Tavix (talk) 22:38, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
