Can I suggest you have a chat with your friend about the AfD debate. The way they are editing at the moment is not helpful. It will undermine your case and ultimately get them banned. No one wants that.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 19:59, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of The Centrium, Woking
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on The Centrium, Woking requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ~ Matthew Say hi! Editing existing articles
Just to follow up the comment I made on the AfD page, here's another example of the kind of work I think you should look for. While looking for refs to the tallest buildings in Surrey, I came upon the page List of tallest buildings and structures in Croydon, which is where I got the figure of four taller buildings in Croydon. But on looking again I realised that several of the 'under construction' entries had completion estimates that have already passed. So I looked at the page for Altitude 25, and that was also written in the future tense saying the building was under construction. Doing a quick google search showed that the building was definitely complete and indeed flats are on sale, so the article is obviously out of date. So I decided to edit it to say it was complete, and changed a lot of the phrases from future to past tense. I also found a reliable source to show it has been completed, so I could include a citation to support my edits (browse through the edit history of the page to see the before and after). This was maybe 30 mins work, clearly improves wikipedia, and is unlikely to be in any way controvercial. Off the back of this I then updated the Croydon list page as well. I think this is the sort of project you should look to be doing at the moment. You can do some good work, really make some useful and visible changes, but not have to argue and fight to get in new pages. Starting new articles is tough, and probably best left till you have more experience of how things hang together. Looking at that same list of buildings in Croydon, the other three under construction are all supposed to have been finished by now, so potentially they need updating as well. I had a quick google search for the Vocational Tower, but couldn't find anything definite saying it was completed, so without refs to cite I've left it as is. But as you have an interest in this area you might be more successful than I was. Citations don't need to be website, although those are easier to find. Take a look here for info on the kind of refs you need to be using. There are also two more lower buildings on that list which could be investigated, I've not looked into those at all. I think that sort of project will be a lot easier for you to work with, and will teach you about wikipedia without getting into conflict. I'd be happy to try and point you in the right direction as well, I've got a watch on your talk page so if you put any questions or comments on here I'll see them and try to help (the AfD debate isn't the place for this sort of thing).--ThePaintedOne (talk) 10:08, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
