Something I want you to check out
[edit]Hi, seeing your recent edits, I just want you ,with all respect, to check out just one thing.
1.) Hear the much controvertial 'Da Torpedo Speech' (search by that). I just hear it a few days ago too. Before, I just thought it was an exploit of the lese majest law used on someone attacking Prem.
2.) Go see what's going on in the 'Fah Dieaw Gun' (same sky) webboard. (search using Thai name). It's equally shocking.
I can't say more. Foriegners would look and see nothing wrong in them, but for Thais like you, it's another story. --Donny TH (talk) 08:15, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- What does this have to do with Wikipedia? Patiwat (talk) 15:35, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Well... nothing. (nothing that can be written anyway.) It's just that I know we've had many disagreements, but since I assumed from your name that you're a Thai, so I want to see if we, atleast, think something in common. (I didn't ask did because of the reversed Finland plot edit. Really.) Speaking of common, come'on please. If you haven't seen it, I'm sure it will be of some interest to you. If you don't have much time, for the clip, (if you go to the website with 4 parts) the hilights is in the beginning of the first clip, beginning of the 3rd clip, beginning of the 4th clip, and near the end of the 4th clip. --Donny TH (talk) 04:09, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- At this point in Thai history, when otherwise rationale people are calling for "reconciliation" in one sentence while also calling for "assassination" in the next, do you think that anything - other than that thing that we ALL dread but don't want to think about - can change anybody's mind? Unfortunately, it has gotten to the point where whoever wins, "he" loses. What must happen will happen. I'm just using Wikipedia to record all the significant facts. Let history make the judgments. Patiwat (talk) 06:48, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you. Pawyilee (talk) 08:00, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
So.. you've view the video speech, and read some (non-red-shirt-related) posts from the webboard? (Actually I think the webboard one is more significant and serious than the speech) The interesting ones I'm talking about can be easier found by searching the term "ระบอบกษัตริย์" and ,to a lesser amount, "ศักดินา". Also, it's notable to look at many member's signature. I don't know if it will surpise you, but it certainly surprised me. PS: Lee, shouldn't 'yi' be spelled 'Yai' and 'Paw' be 'Por' ? Just random thoughts. :) --Donny TH (talk) 02:42, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but I still don't get your point. What are you trying to tell me or persuade me to think? Patiwat (talk) 03:29, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Siamese Revolution of 1932
[edit]Hello Khun Patiwat,
I am asking for your help with regards to the Siamese Revolution of 1932 article, right now it is basically a one contributer article. I would really like to turn it into a feature article for the anniversary next month. Any chances? too ambitious maybe? Please help- I know you have done it before. Best regards Sodacan (talk) 22:41, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
- Ambitious? Yes! Worth it? Hell yeah! Unfortunately, I don't have convenient access to that many good sources. But I'll take a stab at it. Note that you can make some good improvements on it by just looking through the style guide and such, e.g., the style guide recommends not using "the" in section titles. Patiwat (talk) 04:14, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah! Good! I'll look through the style guide to see what I can do, the most urgent change right now is the introduction it needs to be expanded as stipulated by the FA guide. And when should we nominate this? Sodacan (talk) 09:01, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, I've been taking care of some personal issues and haven't had much time for this. Will get to it when I can! Patiwat (talk) 15:27, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Please don't forget! just copyediting would be really great Sodacan (talk) 12:30, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comments and concerns!, please help me implement them. Right now the article is a one editor article, if there is any hope of it becoming more there needs to be more work. All your points are good, and valid the only issue I have is the last one concerning Rama VII, from many sources it seemed that he did wanted at first, to implement some kind of constitutional reforms even if they were limited. However his foreign advisors and his brothers were opposed to this, and this did not happen. Whether this was because he was persuaded over against his earlier attempts or had no choice is not known. This is the narrative I have found in almost all the sources I have cited. The alternative that he was against reform is very interesting, and could turn everything over on its head. Anyway please if you have time do take a serious look at it, it is a worthy subject and deserves a good and informative article. I have tried and the result is a mess, it needs a trained eye, reading it over now the last section needs to be entirely rewritten, if not entirely deleted. Thank you for having looked over it anyway. Sodacan (talk) 22:04, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
This has nothing to do with Thailand, but I was interested in your POV rationale over one contributor's mention of home-brew sato kits. There is a controversy on the Malvern Water page about the mention in which Schweppes is the only firm to commercialise this famous mineral water. I recently split the article from another page and expanded it. There is definitely no advertising intended - indeed Schweppes has a dedicated Wiki article. If you have time to review this Malvern Water article and perhaps make some comment, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks. --Kudpung (talk) 10:12, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- You don't need to look at the article anymore. The matter has been successfully concluded. --Kudpung (talk) 10:40, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Hey Khun Patiwat, why the sudden dislike of that segment. I recall some earlier articles we both edited (I recall your name from the watchlist entries) and recalled the Sato article as one of them. I noted in the history for the Sato article that you'd edited this article two or three times previously, couple of years ago; the brewing steps were in there at that time, too. Just curious what inspired your thoughts on removing it now. Having asked that, I've also got an observation that I'll put on the Sato talk page. - Thaimoss (talk) 00:54, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is NOT a recipe book (see http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not). Besides, the recipe is crap. Literally. The jar should be sterilized before the rice/yeast mixture is put in. And the output should be pasteurized. Besides, the "traditional" recipe is unreferenced. On a separate point, the "Brewing" section is inconsistent: ลูกแป้ง is defined in one part as being mostly sugar, and in another part as being starch, yeast, and mold. Patiwat (talk) 06:26, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- Right, I understand and agree with your point on the recipe book. Addition of an entry about the sterilization and pasteurization would be good. I'm sure we can find a reference for the process. I'll straighten up the ลูกแป้ง inconsistency. - Thaimoss (talk) 22:18, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

S.P. Somtow
[edit]Hi. Do you have a source for the information on Somtow's lineage? I actually know Somtow and some of his family fairly well and while I know he has some royal ancestors, I have never heard that his great uncle is King Chulalongkorn. I'm going to avoid editing the article as I have a COI, I just watch it for vandalism, but I think a source would be appropriate to make such a claim. DegenFarang (talk) 01:40, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- It's on his website. Indrasakdisaji was his grandfather's sister. I've added a reference. Patiwat (talk) 05:39, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, I misread. Should have typed Vajiravudh, not Chulalongkorn. Change made. Patiwat (talk) 05:43, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- "his grandfather's sister was a cousin and consort of King Vajiravudh" - yes, that sounds much more like what I have been told. I didn't think it was as direct as 'great uncle'. Nice work on the article. I'm sure Somtow appreciates it. DegenFarang (talk) 12:37, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Jaruvan.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Jaruvan.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Paul_012 (talk) 05:32, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
Disputed non-free use rationale for File:AungHlang.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:AungHlang.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Paul_012 (talk) 20:37, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

You added a hangon tag to the speedy on this page. You may be interested to know that this was (probably) unnecessary and you could just have removed the speedy tag. According to policy "anyone except a page's creator may contest the speedy deletion of a page by removing the deletion notice from the page." As it appears you were not the page creator you could have simply have removed the speedy tag rather add a hangon. I have now removed the speedy. Dpmuk (talk) 10:08, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Youko Matsuka's Gorsch the Cellist.jpg. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. Speedy deletion nomination of File:RoyalPAD.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:RoyalPAD.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the file is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Replaceable fair use File:Saprang.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Saprang.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Articles that involve Thai politics
[edit]I am writing and editing articles with regard to Thai Buddhism, so usually this is not an issue, but it does become an issue as soon as I cover something that has to do with politics. I find that Thai media are so strongly divided about political issues, Red Shirts and Yellow Shirt issues, and other political pressure groups, that I find it difficult to gather neutral, reliable information. I understand you would just have to try to show a balanced perspective showing opinions of two sides of the spectrum, but this isn't easy, especially since many Red Shirt-oriented media outlets in Thailand have gone underground or abroad since the last coup d'etat and under the current regime, there is a lot of censorship going on. How do you deal with this, when you write articles that rely on Thai sources? S Khemadhammo (talk) 19:46, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 11:28, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Surayud black beret.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Surayud black beret.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:19, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Surayud white.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Surayud white.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:16, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

File source problem with File:DraftConstitution.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:DraftConstitution.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. A tag has been placed on File:Wikipedia edits histogram, up to 12 June--.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Pkbwcgs (talk) 14:56, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
