Question from YoungYadda (17:15, 23 November 2021)
Hey I’m a rap artist and would like to create my own profile page how do I do that? --YoungYadda (talk) 17:15, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hello YoungYadda, I appreciate your enthusiasm but before you begin you should note that not all people warrant an article - there are certain notability guidelines that determine which subjects should have an article. I tried searching for sources based on your username, but couldn't see anything at a quick glance (please ignore if your username is not representative of your artist name) Please have a read of the guidelines before beginning, as well as those that we have for editors with a conflict of interest. If you are certain that you are notable, then start collecting reliable, independent sources that cover yourself in great detail and start writing a draft (ensure you use your own words) using this tool. Once you're done, there will be a button at the top of the draft to submit it for review by editors such as myself. Let me know if you have any problems/questions, and I'll do my best to help. Question from Frank le Fapper (12:00, 1 December 2021)
Hi, how do I use the draft in articles; and how do I add sources with that flapping effect that first shows the name and page and then shows the full citation (book, year etc)? --Frank le Fapper (talk) 12:00, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Frank le Fapper, draftspace and article space are not the same thing - draft space is used to create drafts of potential articles, which are then moved to the "main" or article space. You can create a draft of an article using the article wizard and submit it for a review once you're finished. I'm not sure what you mean by the "flapping effect" - could you explain further? Bio
How do I go about hiring an editor to upload my bio on here so it won’t be deleted? My artist name is Young Yadda. YoungYadda (talk) 06:16, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
You can google my name Young Yadda or look me up on YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, Tidal, Audiomack, SoundCloud YoungYadda (talk) 06:18, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
- YoungYadda, you need to be careful about "hiring editors" and I'd strongly recommend you don't. The majority of these services don't disclose that they are being paid to edit - this is a violation of WP:PAID. Even worse, many have accounts that are blocked/banned and yet edit under accounts used to evade the block/ban (even though some claim to follow policy), and as a result any articles they create will be deleted under WP:CSD#G5 with no warning. I'd suggest doing any work yourself. The sources you've provided in the second comment can't be used to establish notability, because they are primary sources because the content there is created by yourself. Can you find others? Question from Gd123lbp on Draft:Test draft (11:52, 7 January 2022)
how do I create a draft Wikipedia page from scratch? --Gd123lbp (talk) 11:52, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hello Gd123lbp, you need a more specific title for the draft other than "Test draft" - editing tests can be made in the sandbox. To create the draft, you can use the article wizard which will give you the correct draft name. I moved your current draft (Draft:Other test) over to Draft:Five-Finger Square for you as a more specific name, let me know if you need any further questions on editing :-) Pahunkat (talk) 20:59, 7 January 2022 (UTC)

SockPuppet?
Hello? Would this be sockpuppeting? ChromiumOverload (Talk 📨) 23:31, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
- @ChromiumOverload: By itself it is vandalism, but do you have any evidence that they used multiple accounts/IPs? – AssumeGoodWraith (talk | contribs) 03:33, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- ChromiumOverload, it's hard to tell given that the relevant diffs of the page have been revision deleted. I would probably guess multiple users coordinating to vandalize the page (i.e. meatpuppetry) based off the available info that I have, but there's not a lot to go on. The disruption seems to have stopped though and most of the users blocked, so I don't think any action needs to be taken here unless the vandalism flares up again. Question from Charlieo308 (22:15, 12 January 2022)
How do I create a page? --Charlieo308 (talk) 22:15, 12 January 2022 (UTC)

Request
Hon Mary Clancy requested the edits I sent to the page. She would ask that you reinstate them. If needed, I can add them back to the page and reference her. Please advice if that will suffice. She will not permit the page to stand as it is currently presented. Thanks for any help you can offer. HeadyJesus (talk) 18:48, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- HeadyJesus, you must find references that back up the content you have added. The current version has one reference to archived content, your proposed changes cite no references. We cannot let the content stand while it is unreferenced - see Wikipedia:Verifiability, so I will revert them for now until you can find sufficient references. You can find them archived within the revision history of the article. Additionally, you need to disclose your conflict of interest with the subject (i.e. what your relationship with the subject is). Please let me know if you do not understand any part of this, or need additional help. Thank you. Pahunkat (talk) 19:10, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- I see that you've removed the section entirely? Pahunkat (talk) 19:12, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for bearing with me will I try to figure out how to communicate with you. This is my first day with an account. Ms. Clancy is a friend, now aged in years and is quite distressed that she herself has not be included as reference to her life. She strongly disagrees with the tone and viewpoint of events as stated by the one reference provided to her time at the college. She believes the addition of this information to have been made maliciously and not having a chance to speak to them as such, in the most public of forums aggress to have a page stand, tied to her name, in one of three manners: 1) inclusions of the edits sent today 2) or removal of the reference to Burlington College 3) or if neither of these are agreeable, that no page with her name and life be allowed to stand - in other words removed in its entirety.
Given this request from her, and her wishes, how do we proceed? HeadyJesus (talk) 19:27, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- HeadyJesus, in my opinion the best option would be to find sources on the internet and write something based on those sources. I'm afraid it isn't possible to let the proposed additions (as they currently stand) to remain on the article without suitable references. Let me know if you need help with that. Pahunkat (talk) 19:38, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
Thank you Pahunkat. Given this information, she wishes to the page have deleted in its entirety. How do we delete it? HeadyJesus (talk) 19:44, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- HeadyJesus, I don't think that would be possible. We do allow articles on people who are relatively obscure to be deleted at the request of the subject (see WP:BLPREQUESTDELETE). As the subject is a notable politician, I don't think it will be possible to request deletion via that route. As it is only a section of the article, I would once again recommend trying to rewrite that based on sources and then proposing the change on the article's talk page. Pahunkat (talk) 20:44, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
- FYI it's getting late where I am, I'll be around here for about an hour or two. If you need urgent help, I'd point you to the teahouse where other editors can help answer your questions. I'll respond to anything unanswered on my talk page in the morning. Pahunkat (talk) 20:46, 28 December 2021 (UTC)

Rusalkii (talk) 23:05, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Question from Mehak Kesar11 (19:08, 20 January 2022)
Hi Pahunkat,
I have just completed the draft of my wiki page, and i want it o be published as soon as possible. Any suggestions how to get it reviewed ahead of others as, i can see number of pending reviews already in the list.
Regards, Mehak --Mehak Kesar11 (talk) 19:08, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hello Mehak Kesar11, I'm not the most knowledgeable person with regards to sport, but your draft will be assessed using the general notability guidelines and the set of guidelines for the notability of cricketers (if needed). I would suggest having a look through those guidelines and adding more relevant references/updating the draft according to those if needed in order to make a clear claim of notability - the ones further down the queue tend to have borderline notability, the ones with a clear claim of notability are usually accepted quickly. Per policy I'll also point you to out guidelines for conflict of interest editors, but I would say that Draft:Mehak Kesar is pretty well written in comparison to other autobiographies that I have seen. I can't tell you how long it is before someone reviews it, we're all volunteers and there is a backlog of ~3000 drafts awaiting review. Let me know if you have any more questions. Question from Mehak Kesar11 (18:24, 24 January 2022)
Hi Pahunkat,
Thanks for the info. you provided.
I am actually a rookie to this platform so not much aware of it. Though, i had some previous idea to write technical papers so was able to write it but, I'm completely unaware of how the things have been categorized here. Got a comment from somebody a day back and it says "the article has been assessed as Stub-Class". My original intension was to write a wiki page for myself but I'm bit confused now. I would really appreciate if you can help me clear some of my doubts: 1. Can you please let me know whether I'm on the right path or I need to do something different for a wiki page. 2. Is a "wiki page" and a "stub" any different? If yes, what should be my next step to make it a "wiki-page". 3. When you said "A better sourcing is needed ", what actually it meant. Regards! --Mehak Kesar11 (talk) 18:24, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hello Mehak Kesar11, a reviewer accepted the draft so it is now an article at Mehak Kesar. "Stub-class" just refers to the rating of the article - it means that it is a short article that can be expanded in the future if needed. For your information, it is an "article" as opposed to a "page" - anyone is welcome to edit the article. You shouldn't need to do anything anymore with regards to sourcing - the article is in mainspace. Pahunkat (talk) 18:28, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) You might want to check with the editor if they have any relation with the subject of the article. Even beyond standard WP:COI it is never a permitted mode of operation to have someone create an 'autobiographical' article. I am referring to your comment

On 4 February 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Technical support scam, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Microsoft has banned all third-party tech-support advertisements on Bing due to a rise in technical support scams? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Technical support scam (2nd nomination). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Technical support scam), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. WP:AFC Helper News
Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.
- AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
- The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.
Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. I'm starting to wonder what the people who welcomed me, left the first few talk page messages, etc. think about a newcomer actually continuing to edit (hence this talk page message). It's been ~8 months (or approximately ~7 CVUAs, whichever measurement system you prefer). – AssumeGoodWraith (talk | contribs) 12:14, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
- AssumeGoodWraith, I'm really happy to see that you're still here and continuing to edit. We struggle to keep new editors, as reflected in the falling numbers of contributors and admins - one of the reasons I help out as a mentor in the Growth Features and as an instructor at CVUA. When I first started out I wasn't that committed to the site and found it hard to make my way around, I've come a long way from there but could easily have left. When you moved that article to mainspace you'd been here for about a month, did you expect to be here for much longer? Pahunkat (talk) 12:31, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
And I only joined because I read the policies and guidelines beforehand (and indiscriminate amounts of essays I saw as policy). Where I managed to find them? I have no idea.
And for that last question: I'm truly not sure, but I did get rollback and PCR around that time. Probably a symbol of not leaving soon.
Hopefully the growth features help. – AssumeGoodWraith (talk | contribs) 12:37, 20 February 2022 (UTC)

Features for new users coming soon
Hello.
Although you've not been hugely active there recently, I see you're still currently listed as a host at the Teahouse. So I wanted to make sure you're aware of the imminent rollout of new Growth Team Features which every new account will be getting by default. Each users will soon see a new 'Homepage' tab next to their User page. It contains two main elements which might impact on your involvement - and you'd be welcome to get involved and help out directly with one of them.
- Firstly, they will be offered a range of 'suggested edits', and encouraged to make simple improvements to pages that interest them. (Being aware of this feature would be helpful for all Teahouse hosts if you're likely to offer advice on tasks for them to start out doing.)
- There's also a 'Your impact' box to show them how many people have seen the pages they've just edited.
- Finally, each new user is randomly assigned a 'mentor' from a list of friendly, experienced editors, like yourself. If they get stuck, they can ask a question directly to them via a Your mentor box, and hopefully get a swift, friendly answer from that mentor. Currently, this feature is given to 2% of new users, but it's set to increase to around 10% in the very near future.
To spread the load on our current list of around 65 mentors, I'm reaching out to ask if you'd like to help out and sign up as one? The workload is relatively small; User Panini! reports receiving four questions a month, on average, all of which were simple ones of the type we already get at the Teahouse, whilst I've had just one in the last 3 weeks. To view a list of every question asked of all mentors over the last 14 days, click here.
If becoming a mentor and being available to help new users on their first few days here interests you - just as have done at the Teahouse in the past - then please consider signing up at Growth Team features/Mentor list. But please only do so if you are genuinely willing to be available to help. Existing users can already 'opt-in' to seeing the Newcomer Homepage features via their Preferences.
Thank you! Nick Moyes (talk) 12:11, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
Question from Justanot (15:14, 25 February 2022)
I just returned to Wikipedia after a long hiatus only to find out that I'm not blocked from editing articles on Wikipedia even though I've done nothing to deserve that. What should I do since this is either targeting my ip or my account. It can't be my account unless we have a rogue admin around. It's more likely that somebody using my ip managed to do something (somehow). I thought I was safe from ip bans. What should I do? --Justanot (talk) 15:14, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Justanot, as far as I can see you aren't blocked directly - that means there is likely an underlying block on your IP. Can you email me or paste below the notice you get when you try to edit, so I can have a further look? Pahunkat (talk) 12:08, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
I'm not blocked anymore. I thought having an account protected you from IP blocks. Justanot (talk) 16:32, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Justanot, there are some cases in which it will be necessary for an administrator to block all edits (even from registered users) from a specific IP address even from accounts using the address. Additionally, when an account is blocked any other accounts that share the same IP address are automatically blocked (temporarily). This helps admins prevent abuse from IP addresses, but can lead to false positives/collateral damage - I'm sorry that you experienced that. Pahunkat (talk) 16:32, 2 March 2022 (UTC)

Your user page
Hi Pahunkat! I hope you're doing well! I was going through some logs, and I saw that your user page has been torn up a number of times by vandals and trolls. I also noticed that it had no edit protection at all (just indefinite extended confirmed move protection). I went ahead and bumped up the protection level for you. ;-) If you don't want this protection applied and would like it removed, let me know and I'll be happy to do that for you. I just figured I'd help you out and let you know about it. ;-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 08:12, 11 March 2022 (UTC)

- Hello ToastGuard, I'd recommend getting a bit more experience with counter-vandalism before embarking on the course - it's relatively long, you can see more here. I'm willing to give some leeway with regards to the 200 mainspace edit rule for CVUA admission but some experience is certainly advised. Do some more work in the area, and come back to me (or another instructor) afterwards - though you are always welcome to ask any questions you have on my talk page or at the teahouse :-) Pahunkat (talk) 10:24, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

Question from Egwinc (19:22, 17 May 2022)
I would like to add our company to wikipedia. I have read that there are issues sometimes adding companies, but we have been in business for 31 years and are established in our market. Some of our competitors are listed on wikipedia as well. --Egwinc (talk) 19:22, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) hi Egwinc! you theoretically could write about your own company in Wikipedia, but it would be difficult (writing a new article is already difficult, and is much harder when you have a connection to the subject) and it may be best left to someone else who has no connection to the company. if you still want to, then:
- you'd first have to disclose your conflict of interest on your user page by something like
{{UserboxCOI|1=Company name}}
. - you should be careful with your writing and aim to remain neutral, avoid promoting your company or treat it as a PR outlet, and watch out for words such as "leading" or "cutting-edge".
- also take note of Notability for organizations and see if yours meets the criteria, and Reliable sources to see what you can cite to prove it meets said criteria (you cannot cite the company's official sites or accounts for this, you have to use independent sources).
- if all this hasn't put you off, then head over to Your first article to see how you can write one.
- you'd first have to disclose your conflict of interest on your user page by something like

Question from The Martiner (21:01, 26 May 2022)
Hello, I'm interested on write articles about independent music bands, how can I start? --The Martiner (talk) 21:01, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) hi @The Martiner! it seems like you've already started a few drafts. writing a new article is very hard (although not impossible) for newcomers, so it may be better for you to get the hang of editing by doing easier stuff like copyediting or adding to articles for now and come back to your drafts in the future: there's no deadline to write. while I'm neither Pahunkat (they're inactive rn) nor someone capable of reviewing articles, but here's my advice anyway:
- first of all, do you have a connection to Lestsel? are you a member of the band or know them personally? if so, please read through Conflict of interest first. disclose your conflict of interest over at your userpage, and be extra careful with writing.
- I'd advise you to start with reading the notability criteria for music-related articles and the general notability guideline to know what subjects can be given an article, and Reliable sources to know what you can use to prove the above and anything you write in your article. you need to prove notability with reliable sources, otherwise the article won't be accepted.
- remember that this is an encyclopedia, not a review site, not a place to promote bands or anything else. in here, we discuss things neutrally and cover both the good and bad sides of them. we don't promote, we inform. additionally, there's already a page for indie rock, if you want to write encyclopedic content about it, you can put it there for now instead of starting a draft dedicated to 2022 bands specifically.
- if you have the sources to prove notability, then you can start writing! please read Your first article and Writing better articles, both guide you in encyclopedic writing.
- happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 13:01, 29 May 2022 (UTC)

- (talk page watcher) hi @ChewBird! you could upload the image you took over at Wikimedia Commons. once there the image can be used in Wikipedia. however just note that you have to be the one who took the picture or otherwise have the copyright over it, and that uploading it to commons means you have to release your image for use by anyone, including others making derivatives of it and commercial use of it (for example, setting the license to CC BY-SA 4.0 would be fine). happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 12:23, 29 May 2022 (UTC)

Question from Don't be sad be happy (00:45, 8 December 2022)
How do I make an article? --Don't be sad be happy (talk) 00:45, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) hi @Don't be sad be happy and welcome to Wikipedia! there's a bit of reading material needed before you can start an article:
- Reliable sources, which discusses what sources you can use to back up claims and things you write in the article (since said claims are required in all but the sky-is-blue kind of obvious claims you make),
- Notability, which discusses if the subject you're writing can have an article,
- and Your first article, which actually gets you in the process of writing your own article.
- it's not an easy process, so it's alright if you want to tackle some easier stuff| first and return to this in the future, but if you want to work on one now, here's what you need to start writing a draft for your article. happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 01:01, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
