Smash World Forums AfD

I voted delete on this, but I have to say your action seems kind of precipitous. It had been posted on AfD less than a day, and a day that's a holiday for many people at that. It's not impossible that someone could have come up with a good argument for notability in the next few days. If you're going to move so quickly, it would be nice to at least see some reasoning given with the closing notice. Best, rodii 00:49, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply! This struck a nerve for me because not long ago I suggested letting someone clean up an article that was up for AfD and got a somewhat snarky "they have FIVE DAYS to fix the problem with AfD, isn't that enough!?" from someone. So it seems like at least some people think the five-day period is pretty solid. Anyway, I appreciate the civil reply, and the good job you do in general. rodii 03:45, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

I have about the same problem as the above, although consensus at the time of closing the debate was delete, it had only been listed for two days, one of whitch is a holiday for many people. If for nothing else, I think that this is reason enough for keeping it on Afd all five days. Bjelleklang - talk 08:56, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

Admiral Freebee

You wrote on the AfD entry page that the article about Admiral Freebee should be removed. The reason that he is not notable is of course utter nonsense - this is an encyclopedia, not a hall of fame. You further wrote that the article might be considered an advertisement for his next tour. Despite the facts that the article wasn't intended that way and that I didn't write anything that would even resemble an advertisement, I rewrote the article. MB 18:15, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Please quote the remarks where I got personal, I can't find them. I already posted a reply on the AfD page regarding Admiral Freebee. I posted on your talk page because I stronly disagree with your point of view regarding 'notability', which affects more articles.

Regarding WP:MUSIC, please visit Admiral Freebee's website. There are several reasons why he should be considered notable. MB 18:44, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
I'm merely stating my opinion without the intention to backfire. I disagree with your views, not necessarily your views if you know what I mean. I believe I have policy (WP:MUSIC) on my side (even though I'm apparantly an inclusionist and thus do not care about notability). Finding proof about AF's notability is already mentioned on the AfD by myself.

¡Saludos, compañero de Wikipedia! Linkspam

Hi! I found you here and maybe you can help me :-) I found a linkspammer Special:Contributions/Jmputz and I wonder if a) there is a tool to mass-revert his linkspam and b) where would be the best place to report him/her and c) how can I mass-tag his posts? Thanks! --Pmkpmk 18:09, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Proof of notability

This has very little to do with Admiral Freebee so I decided to add a new subject, I just would like to know your point of view on the following. You wrote on my talk page that it's not your obligation to search for proof of notability on websites. I find this strange since it is considered to be my obligation to prove the notability of the subject of an article while any editor apparently can consider (or contribute to a consideration for) an AfD without conducting proper research. This seems very hypocritical (for lack of better words). MB 21:25, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Clear, thanks for sharing your view. I must admit though that it´s a bit harsh to consider an article for deletion or contributing to the consideration if the article (and, in this case, the author) is brand new. MB 11:57, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

If you think Viera Scheibner is a quack then you need to do some research into vaccination, and it also point sout your bias. Should you be attempting to delete medical pages if you are ignorant of the subect and show blatant bias? john 22:53, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

List of atheists

Hello Pablo, long time no speak! I don't know if you remember or not, but we had worked together on the inclusion criteria for List of atheists a good while ago. There is a discussion going on now regarding the article on its talk page and the future direction that it should take. I feel that you were very influential in shaping what the article ended up being and were also very militant in maintaining the empiricism of the inclusion process. I have not been keeping up with the article too much lately, but I have been a little dissatisfied with the direction that it has taken. I think the inclusion criteria needs to be simplified and revised in order to make it clearer. Would you be willing to help out with this? Hope you're enjoying a good wikivacation. Cheers! –Comics (Talk) 06:00, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Warning templates

I noticed your use of a warning template on an anon user talk page recently. It is easier for other users/administrators to refer to the vandalism if, instead of using templates test1, test2 etc. you use templates of the form test-n, test2-n etc. This means that you can add the name of the article in the template. See Wikipedia:Vandalism#Warning_templates for more info. haz (user talk) 13:09, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Hola! pues estoy buscando referencias concernando la crisis economica. Voy anadiendo poco a poco. Urgent help needed

Thanks for copyediting the article Huemul Project. Have you seen the discussion page? The problem we are experiencing is that an anon user IP 200.xx.xx.xx keeps erasing all negative comments and warnings, both in the article and in the talk page. As you can see from the history log he has done it three times on the talk page. Two of them today and, from previous history, we know he will continue to do it. The previous history includes the article which he has been also partially erasing and re-writing in a very slanted way and with personal attacks to everyone that doesn't agree with him. In fact, by his behavior he has impeded the input by myself and other user. What do you suggest can be done? Jclerman Jclerman 19:13, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

200.127.209.223

Hi, Pablo. 200.127.209.223 has been repeatedly editing Domingo Sarmiento and Bartolome Mitre by inserting controversial, undocumented and clearly biased POV's. You've warned him before. Would you consider a semi protection of those articles for a while (I mean making them only editable by registered users, if that's possible)? --Filius Rosadis 12:24, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism, again

Hi, a message was sent to me by ShiningEyes about our old friend the Argentine vandal with multiple IPs, it seems that he's reverting changes again in Ronald Richter and Instituto Balseiro articles. He has been warned by ShiningEyes and me with apparently no response, and I also noticed that the CNEA and Huemul Project pages have been protected due to this guy. Can you help me please? Maybe another protection (yes, it's controversial) seems the best solution, just see his contributions. Cheers. --OneEuropeanHeart 01:50, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

And now he's striking in the José Antonio Balseiro article... I'm certainly TIRED of reverting his changes, warning him WITH NO RESPONSE, and reverting again his unhelpful and POV edits. What we can do? Block all IPs adresses starting with 200.43.***? Or do a massive protection on 5 important and relevant articles due to this vandal? No, obviously not... --OneEuropeanHeart 02:00, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Mmm, it seems that you're striking again. Why do you keep attacking me and other Wikipedians for editing these articles? --OneEuropeanHeart 01:30, 6 March 2006 (UTC) I have no problem at all if you and your Wikipedians associates keep adding meaningful verified (factual) content from reliable sources to those articles. 200.43.201.239 01:50, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Are you KIDDING? You ATTACKED me, ShiningEyes, Pablo-flores, Nkcs, and a lot of Wikipedians with true SOURCED contributions and COMMUNITY SERVICE and RESPECT FOR SOCIAL CONSENSUS, you gained the PROTECTION status in CNEA and Huemul Project articles, yes SURELY I must say "thanks" to you... --OneEuropeanHeart 02:10, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Coat of Arms (talk) 02:13, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

You'll have to prove your charges. 200.43.201.239 02:21, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
If that's a try to threaten me, you're wasting your time, my friend. Do you want proof? Here you are. You attacked OneEuropeanHeart, ShiningEyes, and Pablo-flores and you reverted all their contributions, even when them are sourced and accepted by community consensus. I don't know what's your history with these guys, but when an anonymous user threatens me on my talkpage saying "you'll have to prove them" I quickly realise who's the vandal here. --Coat of Arms (talk) 02:38, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
That seems to be the real problem. They made no significant contributions to the Huemul Project and related articles, like you. Regards, 200.43.201.239 02:44, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
That's your POV. So bad that Wikipedia's articles must be entirely NPOV. --Coat of Arms (talk) 03:07, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

It's not my POV it's the objective conclusion that anyone can reach merely by looking at the history of those articles. So your allegations have no grounds. 200.43.201.239 03:19, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Question about English Passive Voice article

Hello, Pablo-flores!

I just wanted to ask if you were the creator of this article? Your name is the earliest available one in the history, but it appears you were editing existing material. Is there some reason that previous versions of the page are unavailable. I had a question about a statement made in the original and was trying to find the author. Please reply to my talk page when you have time! Gracias! RJCraig 10:44, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

First of all...

First of all, thanks for your quick response and patience with this, you certainly deserve admin status. Sorry for my bothering and repetitive comments, I never thought you were online, and I was getting really crazy with that vandal. Again, thanks a lot. --OneEuropeanHeart 20:35, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Che article

Greetings, Pablo-flores. It is very emocionante to have someone from Che's hometown collaborating on the article about him! I look forward to including or linking to the great photos you have uploaded -- as you mention, the article is very "packed" at present and also exceeds the Wiki-recommended size limit, so I need to think about the best way to do this and consult with the other editors. I do believe that we must find a way to include the photo of his house that you are going to take in the body of the main article. BTW, I realize that you may not know the answer to this question, but I am wondering why the artist who did the mural made him appear so severe? Why is the portrayal not more like he really was? Thank you! Polaris999 20:40, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Many thanks for the wonderful photos of Che's house. I hope that you like its placement in the article. Thank you also for the explanation about, and links to, Carpani's work which, however, continues to perplex me. Polaris999 16:53, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Junin, Buenos Aires

Hola, Pablo.

Gracias anticipadas. New Kalachakra

Hi, I'd like to get the New Kalachakra page that you deleted undeleted.

You wrote : 2006-03-13 22:25:02 Pablo-flores deleted "New Kalachakra" (AFD: POV fork)

http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&type=delete&page=New_Kalachakra

I found a page (below) which corresponds to the situation there which was that the person who nominated the article for deletion, Sylvain1972 was deleting out of Wikpedia policy repeatedly. he deleted over and over any entry I made to the Kalachakra page without any discussion at all.

This is the page about deleting blindly : "Please do not keep undoing other people's edits without discussing them first. This is considered impolite and unproductive. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert an article to a previous version more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you. --Calton | Talk 23:55, 19 February 2006"

I think the pages can be edited with good exchange and thus I'm asking for the New Kalachakra page to be undeleted. Thank you for keeping me updated. Geir Smith 14:36, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

Fact-check on Carlos Blanco

Hi -- I found you by looking at random users on Category:User es-N until I found one that was active. I nominated the article Carlos Blanco for deletion 4 days ago. The article was created by User:Carlos Blanco so I regarded it as suspicious, and though I did manage to verify SOME detail about the article, I couldn't verify much. Carlos Blanco has a web site in spanish [4] that I couldn't read, and google's translation feature is limited in quality. Just recently, an anonymous user added some information about Carlos Blanco to the AfD debate. I tried to verify what that user was saying (it does look helpful and revelant at first glance) but it's too hard for me since I know no Spanish, so I wanted to find an active editor fluent in Spanish to help out with this. Please don't take this as soliciting your vote, just your attention. We could use some help. If you don't have time for this, let me know and I'll try to keep looking. Thanks! A confusing situation (re Che Guevara's medical records)

Hello Pablo-flores. I apologize for writing to you about a matter which may not be of any interest to you, but I hope that if such be the case you will kindly pass it on to another editor in (or at least from) Argentina. This confusion is in relation to the seemingly eternal question as to exactly what kind of medical degree Ernesto Guevara received in April 1953. Some months ago there was a big dispute about this on WP and the detractors insisted that the title "Dr." be removed from his name at the top of the article, arguing that no one has been able to produce a copy of his actual diploma. Today one of them has added the following sentences to the article:

Guevara's detractors point out that at this level of training the Che is only a medic (medico), it would have taken him three years more of clinical studies to become doctor [2]. This is consistent with the Guevara's limited record of medical practice in the Sierra Maestra.

The source they are referencing is a conglomeration of disparate bits and pieces, at the end of which a person signing as "Miriam Mata" has attached what she asserts is a transcript of Ernesto's studies at UBA, as follows:

En la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, me dicen que investigue en Cordoba. Cordoba no da contestacion a los e mail. La copia del Ministerio de Educacion, Universidad de Buenos Aires(UBA) que sin interes me envio un buen amigo, dice que fue la Facultad de Ciencias Medicas. El que se gradua en Ciencias Medicas, es medico no doctor. La especialidad en alergias o dermatologia lleva otros tres años de estudios. Asistiendo a clases, y pasando examenes. Miriam Mata

I have no personal knowledge that would enable me to evaluate these "records" in order to decide whether or not they are authentic. Also, I do not know what degree one would receive afer five years of medical studies in UBA and whether or not such a graduate would be entitled to be called "Dr.". I would therefore greatly appreciate the help of yourself and/or other Argentine editors in making a correct interpretation of all of this so that I can place the accurate information in the WP Che Guevara article, and if appropriate, restore the "Dr." to his name at the top of the page. (Or, if any of you would wish to come onto the Che article and insert the correct information yourselves, this would be even better!) Extending to you many thanks in advance Polaris999 21:40, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
