Thx from User:205.188.116.14
Thanks for the comment - I have registered before but have found that having a talk page can be annoying. I find that I must write better - since anon's (with some at least) are not accorded the same "good faith" (thus my comment re 2nd class). And it focuses me on editing and changing articles rather than endless debates on talk pages - thus I feel with the limited time I have I make a better contribution to the mission of wikipedia - building an encyclopedia then I could when I was registered and commenting too much. - 205.188.116.14
your words about me
I got it that you think it's ugly, but is there anything else? I'm not convinced at all about the reasons put up by Tobias Conradi. He's pushing his own agenda and has forcefully run into other editors elswhere because he devotes much of his time to rename articles to conform to his idea of name correctness, in order to fit everything neatly into his Matrix of subnational entities. --Pablo D. Flores 15:39, 1 August 2005 (UTC) I responded:
- what has article naming to do with this matrix? I set this matrix up to do research and to help further research. Where am I pushing my own agenda? What is this agenda? One could say this to everyone who has any opinion and tries to convince others that then he is pushing his own agenda. I am absolutly not convinced that the way I currently see the naming is the best solution. But I don't see any better solution with sound arguments. I devoted much of my time to solve naming conflicts and to avoid these in the future. It is not my idea of correctness at all. It may well be my idea of ease of use for editors and readers.
Why do you say I forcefully run into other editors? Because I wsas bold in the beginning? I did not knew that this would cause so many anti-movements, and when I saw this, I talked with the people involved. If there was nobody to talk to, well, than I changed. I just took the format I saw having great distribution. In a lot of countries there was really desorden even within sets and there was wrong linking. You know what is funny: I moved ukrainian " X oblast' " (with ' ) to "X Province" because on the Oblast page it said: recommended english translation : Province. Suddenly someone asked me to stop and revert this within seconds otherwise my ass would be watch my whole wikilive. I did not knew moves could just be moved back, so I said I can't do it. Well this brought me a "asshole". Another day I moved X county to X County in Croatia. This was reverted by one editor. Later I went there again, because this was the only "X lowercase". So, why lowercase? "It's not part of the name". But zupanije is. And if you translate it it's county. While talking I told him about oblast, he was astonished that they did not translate the word. Isn't it funny. Everybody sits in his corner. One defends lowercase, one local name only romanized. Do you know where other people moved the "X oblast'" of Ukraine? To "X Oblast". You may also have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Subnational_entities/Naming#Current use where I marked entity sets that were not moved. I had to do this, because NoPuzzleStranger was spreading different lies about me. Since then, other people started attacking me. Golbez said i call other people stupid if they have a different opinion to mine. I kindly asked him to tell me where i did so. He showed me a reference, but there I only called a quick poll stupid. A poll about something that was "polled" before. Whatever, I asked Golbez whether he can read more precisly in the future. He said he can read. Well, I still don't know where i called someone stupid. At one point Golbez said he maybe put his nose into something he should not have done and he did not read all what happened. Lately this guy with timestamp username came and started to move things around. Why are you not calling him to have an agenda? I am talking to the people, he deletes questions on his talk page without answering. And now you. I allready thought, wao there is someone who wants to organize the issue, because I saw what you wrote on the AR-noticeboard and how you wanted to make it more objectiv. But now you made it personal. Why? Why you wanna have dark light on me? -- Tobias Conradi (Talk) 02:01, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
- This is exactly why I used Mariano's talk page. Not because I wanted to give you a bad name a tus espaldas but because I know from personal experience that some editors are oversensitive. I am. I found it extremely annoying to have you commenting on the voting space, seemingly throwing a wrench into the machinery when it was already going. Yet I replied politely over there. I talked to Mariano privately because we've worked alongside for a while now.
- As for the "agenda"... Well everyone has an agenda. You started "pushing" it when you starting renaming articles without consensus. You then fixed most of it, but somehow you managed to bring all this negative attention on yourself, and that should tell you something. Wikipedia is like a magnet for some confrontational types. You have to be careful not to get into little wars. I think I saw you got angry because someone called your edits "a mistake". That's something to be ignored.
- If you feel insulted by my words, I will take them back. I'll erase them from Mariano's talk page. Then let us "go public" back to the notice board and discuss the article naming convention (and nothing else) over there. If, on the other hand, you prefer the words to stay as proof of a "personal attack" from me, and continue feeling insulted, then so be it. But I've never called you stupid and I don't think you are. You don't need to explain anything to me about your past debates — by the time they got personal I stopped reading because I was looking for discussion on the topic, not for editors' fights.
- The other possibility is that I stay out of the discussion for some time. Show your arguments and discuss with the other editors who voted "yes". I might as well do that; I don't have that much spare time lately. :) Peace. --Pablo D. Flores 11:28, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
- Yes lets erase it from Mariano-page, its not good to have those kind of arguments on other people user page. Gracias para tus palabras muy gentile aca. Yes I am sensitive. There was a time when I did not defend against wrong statements, - also in real life. But if you do not - it's quick others believe it. This mistake thing made me angry but it was not only because someone called one of my edits a mistake. I may do a lot of mistakes, and I have no problem to stay here and say: I made a mistake. I also had lengthy discussion on french regions page and at the end I said to my opponent: Dear XY, thanks for not stopping talking, you convinced me. Disculpe para intervenir in the voting section. I only wanted to prevent that moves take place to fast. Maybe later on I understood something wrong. Si, paz :) , y gracias otra vez para tus palabras. Tobias Conradi (Talk) 13:47, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
Hi
Please let me know what you say the proper format for Argentina is, I'll deal with it if you don't want to. I'm trying to work with Tobias, while seeing him piss off more editors; sometimes it feels like I'm fiddling while Rome burns. --Golbez 14:34, August 2, 2005 (UTC)
- I agree completely; it's per country. I'm trying to write up a draft proposal on Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (subnational entities) around Tobias's lists and cruft. It seems simple enough; I'm going to start implementing it soon. Thank you so much for your reply, and yes - Tobias does tend to switch mood 180 degrees between comments. --Golbez 14:54, August 2, 2005 (UTC)

Colectivos
Chau chau chauuuuu
- The frequency of the colectivos in the city of Buenos Aires would be equal to a powerful system of subways of other cities, but on wheels.
CHANGED !!!
I don't live in BA so I can't tell about the frequency, really, but the comparison is probably exaggerated... AGREE... but I can use a bit of common sense.
(e. g. "the average frequency of the buses is one every 4.5 minutes in such and such barrio") OK Searching that ...
Also this:
- Turning to any corner in the city, it is possible to sight a colectivo, with it's colorings (in Buenos Aires there are not 2 "lineas" of colored colectivos of the same combination of colors).
CHANGED !!!
And this:
- With very economic prices of tickets, all the social classes use it at least 2 times per day.
I DONT THING SO... it´s common sense that...
Unless there are some people you consider to be outside all the social classes, I'm almost sure this cannot be the case. And most surely not everybody travels by bus twice every day, especially when there is a more effective and equally cheap means of transportation (the subte), and when so many people have barely enough money to eat, and have no jobs to travel to.
... Y vos me decis que yo me fui al carajo ??? !!! Creo que estamos exagerando un poco las cosas Pablo. --Zzzzzzus 21:52, 5 September 2005 (UTC)zzzzzzus
Diswambig
In the future please use the move button to create a disambig page. You should have moved San Nicolas to San Nicolas, Copan, then gone back to the San Nicolas page (which would have been an automated redirect) and created the disambig there. What you did mucked up the history and means the people who were watching San Nicolas don't automatically get to watch San Nicolas, Copan, as they ought to, SqueakBox 16:17, September 5, 2005 (UTC)
- I thought I should have done so, only a moment too late. However (though it's not an excuse) the article was linked from two places only; in one case it was Copán department (only a list), and in the other, someone had already placed it incorrectly in a list of Municipalities of Oaxaca, that is, in Mexico. The same article had other five wrong links to places with very common names like Santa Ana and Natividad. I sincerely doubt that many people were watching the original San Nicolás. In any case, they will notice the change into a disambig. --Pablo D. Flores (Talk) 17:54, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

Taxobox images
Hola Pablo - the usual size for taxobox images is 240px or 250px, so that they fill the box to the edges without leaving an unattractive margin. Well done on finding the Argentine copyright-expired pictures, very useful! - MPF 22:51, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
Wichí
Thanks for your work in the page. It really looks better now! I've added some data, but have not found good historical sources. That has a good explanation: Wichís were (and still mostly are) seminomadic, and have no written accounts of their history. Perhaps the most important milestones in their history have been developing since the early 1980's: their struggle for their land and culture, in ever-worsening conditions, against white farmers, cattle-breeders, loggers and deaf governments. BTW... would you take a look at my proposal at Talk:List of Native American languages in Argentina and let me know your opinion?
Hopefully, if I can get some spare time, I'll start to check or build some articles on aboriginal South American languages (a task I already started at Spanish Wikipedia). I guess both of us could team up on that.

Gillespie's "Soldados de Perón"
First Spanish edition: Grijalbo 1987. Blue cover, 372pp. Many libraries, even in your humble village ;-) should have it, as well as used-book stores.
I cannot recommend this book enough. It is, like we say in BsAs, the potato. It is a well-documented and well-referenced book by a British professor who spent a lot of time in 1970s Argentina, heard and read the relevant materials as they were being produced, and did a lot of research. The prologue by Felix Luna is (POV alert) a little over-the-top, and led some people to brand Falucho Luna as an adherent to the "two demons" thesis. (Yes, the same Luna who wrote the Cantata Sudamericana for Mercedes Sosa...) elpincha 23:45, 20 September 2005 (UTC)

Barrios de Rosario
Hi, the page Lista de los barrios de Rosario was started by me, but I took no source at all: as you may know, the official designation of barrios made by the city differs a lot from the popular naming and distribution of barrios (i.e., Arroyito is the name that people in the real world give to what the municipality calls Lisandro de la Torre - and part as Las Malvinas). When I made the page I decided to use the popular names which are the real ones, so I listed the ones I knew. Later, others (and me too) added those that were missing. I think that there's still many barrios missing - it cames to my mind now Cabin 5, which I don't recall if it is listed.
If you were expecting a more reliable source than myself, I'm sorry, I searched but found almost nothing, so that's why I used my own judgement.
Hope you find something, if you do and need some help, just ask me. Saludos, Juan Jfa <<insert coin>> 19:57, 5 October 2005 (UTC)

Possible sockpuppet?
Probably more just an anon user wose IP changes within a certain range at times... Looks to be just bad unsourced editing which I doubt really can be raised to the level of any action at this point. It's worth watching though to see how it develops. DreamGuy 22:14, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

recent Petróleos de Venezuela additions
I do not know who wrote that content. It is, like you said, unsourced. It also strikes me as POV. For these reasons, I moved that paragraph out of the Hugo Chavez article because it was only tangentially related to that subject. Feel free to just delete that paragraph, because it just seems like a paragraph of junk content to me. Saravask 13:59, 8 November 2005 (UTC)
Argentina's GDP
I didn't check for every edition by itself, but saw that the anon-user (probably the same that does the same edit to the page) inserted some POV and decided to revert everything. Another (or the same) anon-user already updated the GDP, but I will do it again with the Data of the Spanish version. Good wiking, Mariano(t/c) 17:22, 9 November 2005 (UTC)
Odds and ends
Hi, Pablo. I noticed the José López Rega article here is fully of your making, so I thought of dropping by and telling you that the w:es version is now longer and, I believe, more complete. Perhaps you might find something of interest there. À votre guise.
On a wholly unrelated vein, I wanted to ask you for some expert advice on linguistics; I'm looking for a good source on the history and evolution of Standard Spanish (as specifically opposed to diatopical lects). I think it might make for an interesting article, and although I'm into sociolinguistics dialectology has never been my forte. es:Español estándar gives an (admittedly Argentine-centric) overview of the involved political issues, but it lacks a linguistic description of its evolution. It shouldn't be too long (as standard languages are always of a conservative persuasion), but it could at least mention how and when features considered vulgar or foreign gained acceptance. Do you have anything in mind that could be useful for that purpose? Most of what I've read is biased to the point of uselessness.
TIA, Taragüí @ 17:16, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
- Well, for an amateur you manage scientific prose amazingly well. My congrats. Know of anyone we could ask for help on the matter?

Congratulations! It's my pleasure to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. Hola Pablo - I noticed you have uploaded this image in Wikimedia, the photo being of a tree from Libro del Árbol Tome II, presumably photographed in South America. My books distinguish between Alnus jorullensis (Mexican Alder; Mexico, Guatemala) and Alnus acuminata (Andean Alder; South America) - is this distinction not made by Libro del Árbol? Do other more recent South American tree books make the distinction? I was going to link it at Mexican Alder but do not want to do so until its identity (/nomenclature) is clarified, I suspect it would be better placed at Andean Alder (a page not yet written!) - thanks, MPF 21:19, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- Many thanks! I think I'll keep them as separate species as they do seem to be treated separately by at least some authors. I'll start an Andean Alder page soon. - MPF 23:01, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- I checked a selection of on-line sources, and it seems that every possible combination of different usages is in use by someone! - two species, or each as a variety of the other, or just one species with no varieties. But the Kew Checklist of Fagales accepts both as distinct species (A. acuminata, A. jorullensis); as they are very authoritative I think I'll follow their lead. Would you have any objection to my re-uploading the pic with the name Image:Alnus acuminata.jpg? (or would you like to do so yourself?) - while it can be used with the other name, future editors might find it confusing. I'll certainly add cross-references between the two pages, as the diversity of taxonomic opinion should be included - MPF 15:41, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

Copyright problems
Hi there! I read one of your responses to a copyright question on Talk:ACADEMICPAINTING.com, and I wanted to let you know that there are further steps necessary to make sure the content is allowed on Wikipedia. If the person creating the article asserts that they own the content, that is okay - however, it is necessary to verify that the owner corresponds to the account from which they are making the edits. A simple email from them which states that they allow the text to be edited under the GFDL would suffice. See for example, this page. Thanks! --HappyCamper 01:37, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

Hola Pablo!
Hola Pablo: Como Estas? Im Antonio, from Puerto Rico. I've seen how you fixed a couple of things on an article I created Lourdes Portillo and also you wrote about a producer that I listed on wikiproject: Argentina, who is also listed on Portillo's bio.
I want to thank you for that. I'm Puertorriqueno. As you might have notices, Im member of wikiproject;Mexico, wikiproject:Mexican-Americans (or Chicanos), wikiproject:Argentina, I created (although it looks horrible) wikiproject:Cuba and I plan on going on with a wikiproject;Puerto Rico soon. I believe in Latinos being one sole, and united, race.
Argentina is a beautiful country. I have never visited but Im in love with it. My first neighbors in Puerto Rico were from, you guessed it, Buenos Aires (I loved it everytime they called me Toniiiiito!!!!! when I was little!!), I have had friends work at Aerolineas Argentinas (an article I created), I met Marciano Cantero of Los Enanitos Verdes (two other articles I created, and boy do I have a funny anecdote with Cantero!!) and I love "Chiquititas" which Telefe is showing in the United States, where I reside now, in particular knowing Agustina Cherri and Romina Yan would both be suitable for me to ask them out based on their current age..lol and yep. I created all those articles as well.
I was wondering if there is an article about the sad tragedy of Cromanon,. Today it was one year ago since 194 people went to Heaven on that sad happening. Maybe we could put it on wikiproject:Argentina as a future article...
Well amigo I have to go. I hope to hear from vos soon.
God bless you! Happy new year!
Sincerely yours, Antonio Tango Dancer Martin

Hey Pablo: Thanks for the page on the Cromanon tragedy. I barely found out yesterday, watching Telefe Noticias on my satellite. My deepest condolences to you and all Argentines for this deeply sad moment in your country and our race's history.
Coincidentally, on December 31, 1986, at the Dupont Plaza Hotel in Isla Verde we suffered the largest fire tragedy in "modern" Puerto Rican history. Not only is it coincident in the dates, but also the fact that the fire in Puerto Rico was held at a dancing hall, and that 97 people died, exactly half of the number of dead in Cromanon. Of course, by loss of people, the Cromanon tragedy was much larger.
Con mucho gusto I will write about Argentina. After all, we all speak Spanish and, well, I know that many Argentines came from Italy just like many Puerto Ricans came from Italy also and from Africa or other places but, that was so long ago that our blood is the same, I believe. So you know, viva la raza Hispana!!!
About Marciano Cantero, and to go on to a lighter note, if you will, I am a big fan of meeting celebrities in person and asking them for autographs. My brother got a job for an NBA basketball team. Along with that, came knowledge of where every star in certain arena stays at, etc, which doors stars use after the concert, you know...
To make the story short, the Enanitos Verdes were known here, just not their faces, because here, only Mexican entertainers get bola. The Enanitos were coming with Alejandra Guzman, I got to the theater's exit about 2 hours after the concert had begun with a poster that had Ale's photo and the Enanitos' name. I saw a guy come off the exit door and stand by the corner, and I asked him if he knew when would the Enanitos be done, that I wanted their autograph. So he told me :"Che, I'm Marciano Cantero, their lead singer!!!!". He explained the others were getting ready to leave, he was outside to take a cigarrette break. I explained to him how only Mexicans here get all the attention so I couldn't recognize him. It was a moment where I wanted to dissapear from the phase of the Earth. But what starts well, ends well. We spoke about music, about Argentina and Puerto Rico, about his favorite vacation spot (I asked if they do sightseeing during their trips, he said nothing compares to Iguazu Falls, I agree, seen the photos, wanna b there). And he did sign my poster and got the two other guys to sign too. That day they were in a hurry, they and Ale were headed to the airport because they also had a concert in Los Angeles less than 24 hours later. The other two Enanitos signed only for me, ordered by Marciano, before rushing off to the airport.
Well, Pablo, On one side, like I said, my condolences to your beloved country for such a grim anniversary. On the other side, have a happy 2006 and God bless you!
Sincerely yours, Your friend Antonio Marciano Lennon Martin
G'day from the other side

Hello Pablo
Please refrain from calling new developments "Patent nonsense".
As you will see on my website I sent my work to a peer - who is the head of his country´s International Accounting Standards department and who is also a Ph.D in economics - and he states publicly that he totally agrees with me.
Otherwise, thank you very much for advising me about Wikipedia´s policies.

Can you please tell me where I find the talk page for inflation?
