[edit]Hello, I'm MrOllie. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 14:22, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Handbag. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 15:04, 12 September 2024 (UTC)

Request reason:
I have been blocked for reasons that are incorrect. The administrator JBW blocked me for advertising or promoting a business. I do not have a handbag related business. I am a handbag collector with the largest handbag collection in the world, in excess of 8000. I am also the creator of a series of traveling museum exhibitions in conjunction with Historic Bethlehem Museums and Sites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and affiliate of The Smithsonian. These are non profit organizations and I have derived no financial benefit from any of these shows. I donate my time, expertise and materials at no cost as part of my community philanthropic efforts. Please feel free to Google me, or contact Historic Bethlehem for corroboration. I am only seeking this recognition as I have earned this, and the only benefit is to the nonprofit museums who look to display my handbags. The exhibition has appeared at The Kemerer Museum, The Moravian Museum, The Coral Gables Museum, and America on Wheels. ABC News, Accessories Council and Collector’s Call on ME TV have all recognized me as the creator of the world’s largest handbag collection~~
Decline reason:
We don't get to write about ourselves on Wikipedia. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 02:48, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
.
I have the world’s largest handbag collection, as verified by industry experts and media including ABC News, Accessories Council, ME TV, PBS, Historic Bethlehem Museums and Sites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Smithsonian Affiliate, and more. I am the author of bestselling books, and derive no financial benefit from the PURSEonality museum exhibitions. These are done for the benefit of the nonprofit museum organizations as my philanthropic donation. Therefore, I am disputing the block, and the removal of my additions to the topic of Handbag Collecting. Please Google me as Ilene Hochberg Wood to learn more. - Wikipedia isn't a place for promotion. It's not just commercial concerns; purely altruistic non-profits can also promote themselves. Just not on Wikipedia. signed, Willondon (talk) 02:50, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- Unfortunately what you have written above contains a couple of misunderstandings relating to the reasons for the block, so I offer the following comments in the hope that they may help to clarify things for you.
- You say that you are "only seeking this recognition". Posting material for the purpose of getting recognition for yourself is exactly what editing for self-promotion means.
- You say that you have "derived no financial benefit". It is a very common mistake for new editors to assume that Wikipedia's policy against promotional editing applies only to promotion for financial gain, but it doesn't: it applies to any kind of promotion, including promoting a non-profit organisation, a religious or political belief, a philanthropic cause, or anything else.
