Adoption
[edit]Hi P-Real DA deal! I'd like to adopt you, as I have a lot of wiki experience and enjoy helping out new users. What do you think? The Earwig (Talk | Contributions) 23:37, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- Ok that would be cool (P-Real DA deal 23:55, 8 May 2009 (UTC))
- I made some changes to the adoption template on your userpage, just to confirm your adoption. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page, and I should respond soon after.
- I've seen from your contributions that you already know a little about page protection, and are getting off to a good start. Your first task— because you already seem to be able to find your way around here— is to be bold. This means that when you see something here you don't like, simply remove it! Now, you must be careful not to remove stuff that might be controversial, but being bold is one of our most important concepts. If you see some bad grammar or spelling anywhere, or content that seems like a hoax, or anything that's an opinion, delete it! That is your first task. Good luck! Sounds like some good tips il get to it thanks--P-Real DA deal 04:27, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 23:54, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

When you sign your name with the tilde do you have to use ( )
--P-Real DA deal 00:00, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
and why is there a box around my text?--P-Real DA deal 00:03, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- No, you don't have to. And the box showed up because you used an extra space between the halpme tag and your text.--Res2216firestar 00:15, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Re: Leak
[edit]Hi! I checked out the edit you made (here's a link), and I must say that you have done good work. You've just removed something illegal from Wikipedia, which is good no matter what the circumstances are, and you seem to have a good eye for noticing that type of thing. Thank you for being bold in removing it! One thing though: it would have probably been a better idea, instead of removing the entire section, to simply remove the URL, and replace with something saying "URL removed," or something like that. That way, you preserve the comments, but remove the illegal part. This is a good opportunity to practice using the undo button. Go to the article's "history", then click on undo in the most recent edit, and in the edit window, remove the URL instead of the whole thing. Try it! The Earwig (Talk | Contributions) 04:46, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
I will definitely try it--P-Real DA deal 04:56, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Userpage
[edit]Well, before we get started working on your userpage, it's best if you read Wikipedia:User page, which explains what you can and can't have there. (If you put stuff on your userpage that you can't have there, it may be deleted.) Once you have the general overview, everything you need to know can be found at Wikipedia:User page design center. If you have a specific question, I'd be happy to answer it, but almost everything you can think of can be found there. I hope that helps! The Earwig (Talk | Contributions) 13:24, 9 May 2009 (UTC) I will get started reading it now thanks--P-Real DA deal 19:11, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- I understand. The simplest way to do that can be accomplished by putting
{{boxboxtop| }} <div class="NavFrame collapsed" style="padding: 0; border-style: none;"> <div class="NavFrame collapsed" style="border-style: none; padding: 0;"> <div class="NavHead" style="background: #edf1f1; text-align: left; text-style: normal;"> TITLE</div><div class="NavContent" style="">
somewhere (remember to replace TITLE
with what you want to call the box), and then placing the stuff you want inside the box below it. At the end of the box, put
</div></div></div> {{boxboxbottom}}
That's only one type of box, though. There are other styles you can use. The Earwig (Talk | Contributions) 19:28, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Status
[edit]Good question. In order to make this work, you first need to create this page, and enter the following code:
importScript('User:Henrik/js/automod.js');
Then, follow the instructions to refresh your browser's cache, and then the links should work! The Earwig (Talk | Contributions) 20:22, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- Did you refresh your browser's cache? See this page for instructions. I saw your "monobook.js" page, and you did everything correctly. Once you've done both of those things, click on one of the update links, and wait a few seconds. The Earwig (Talk | Contributions) 20:34, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- This may seem like a strange question, but what browser, operating system, and internet service provider do you have? I also updated the page for you, that might fix the problem. Click on one of the links, and wait without pressing any buttons. The Earwig (Talk | Contributions) 20:42, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Hey it works now so what ever you did o it did the trick and i am using safari and firefox but mostly safari when on wiki and and im using a ibm computer with windows xp and if this is what u mean i use cox highspeed internet. but i wish i had a mac lol
- Nice to see it is working. I have a mac, actually... but the reason I was asking was because that could be what was causing the problem. Apparently, it wasn't. The Earwig (Talk | Contributions) 20:54, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

I responded on my talk page. From now on, I will use this template so we can keep our discussion on one page, and we don't need to go back and forth between pages. The Earwig (Talk | Contributions) 21:08, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
So i just put my questions on this page and it shows up on yours?--P-Real DA deal 21:18, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Not exacly. It's simply a message (you can put it on my page by using the text {{talkback|P-Real DA deal}}
) that tells you that I've responded to your comment. It doesn't make your questions display on my page. Also: I responded to your question under the "wiki" section on my talkpage. The Earwig (Talk | Contributions) 21:44, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

I answered your question about an article to write about. The Earwig (Talk | Contributions) 19:16, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Twinkle
[edit]In order to make it work, you need to use
importScript('User:Henrik/js/automod.js');
importScript('User:AzaToth/twinkle.js');
instead of
importScript('User:Henrik/js/automod.js');
('User:AzaToth/twinkle.js');
I noticed that you installed the script, but it isn't working. The Earwig (Talk | Contributions) 19:19, 10 May 2009 (UTC) I think i got it working nowP-Real DA deal (talk) 19:24, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

About your comment on User talk:Jimbo Wales
[edit]Hi there P-Real DA deal! I noticed you said on Jimbo's talk page that you didn't have a guestbook, and I was just wondering if you would like me to make you one. It was after all me that made Jimbo's guestbook as well as my own. Ross Rhodes (T C) Sign! 14:56, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- Sure that would be great if you made me one!P-Real DA deal (talk) 17:20, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- I've made the guestbook; here's the link. I've added a list of other guestbooks at the bottom of yours, adding your one to the list, meaning you'll get signatures off other users. I do recommend you make a link on your userpage to your guestbook, that would also help get signatures. Ross Rhodes (T C) Sign! 17:48, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Your guestbook
[edit]Hi again, it Ross. Just to say, I've added a large and easy to see link on your userpage to your guestbook. Anyone looking at your page will most likely sign the guestbook. Sorry I didn't reply on my talk page. I'm kinda busy outside of Wikipedia at the moment. Ross Rhodes (T C) Sign! 19:25, 12 May 2009 (UTC) Thanks and no prob everyone is busy sometimesP-Real DA deal (talk) 19:37, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
