  • Comment: Error: There was no comment detected! Please follow the instructions at Template:AfC comment. I've added WP:Wikilinks to related articles, and fixed your broken table, section divider, grammar/spelling, etc. However, what remains for you to fix is we must have WP:Sourcing to prove this rivalry exists. To do this, check out GoogleBooks and GoogleNews Archive to find reputable, serious academic or journalistic works that discuss and detail this rivalry. For example, where you say he first game was played in 1888 between the two institutions - says who? Ideally you should have a WP:Footnote there citing that to a major newspaper, magazine, or book on sports history. The one source you cite now, "http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com" appears to be a hobbyist site, what we want is some sources with serious reputation to make the article strong and undeniable. Check out WP:Referencing for beginners for some basics of coding, and check in with Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions if you'd like to talk to a volunteer mentor. Wake-Forest referencing

[edit]

Greetings, I had declined your article before, not because it's not a good topic, but because of the lack of sourcing. I see you've published it on your own, which is your right, though I note that it appears that you have more references in your draft than you do in the actual article.

As an example of the kind of footnote you'll want to add, I tracked down some good refs for, for example, the statement that the rivalry's first game was in 1888. I ran a search at GoogleNews, and this is what I got: list of Google hits.

Here's a good example, a 1954 article from The Dispatch which details the history of the rivalry: link.

Does this give a better understanding of what we're looking for in terms of referencing? All we need is independent (not Wake or Forest) coverage of this rivalry, from serious media or historian sources. There's also this book on Google that appears to cover NC rivalries, with a lot of content about Wake-Forest: Alwyn Featherston (1 February 2006). Tobacco Road: Duke, Carolina, N.C. State, Wake Forest, and the History of the Most Intense Backyard Rivalries in Sports. Globe Pequot. ISBN 978-1-59228-915-8. Retrieved 27 October 2012..

Hope this helps! MatthewVanitas (talk) 19:50, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
