Hi there.

I would like to nominate you for adminship. What do you say? You may also nominate yourself if you wish. With 140k edits+ here I think you would make a good admin. Cheers. A2 22:54, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

Surely I have those few edits but I joined on 23-08-2013, I am working on a few backlogs and after editing thousands of pages I have got huge list of the pages that would require many changes so that they can pass some good rating. Then there are at least 5,000 pages on my list that have to be created. There is a lot more to do and I wouldn't require any admin tools for that, I am not going to give up these tasks for any new opportunity. So thank you but there is no need of RFA. Hallo

Hallo! I am a new editor. I've asked some questions to this editor, but he hasn't responded me yet (I think currently he is busy). I believe that all of those questions that I've asked him are known to you. So could you respond me on his behalf? I also have other questions. How can I become a rollbacker or administrator as you? I'd like to create a few articles about religious leaders, who are really known as famous people, but I haven't understood yet how could I create them permanently. Can you explain or help me? If I shan't reply, I'm apologising from now. I might be away from computer this week, so I shall try to get back to you as early as possible. Thanks. --115ash (talk) 09:55, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

@115ash: Check WP:Administrators#Becoming an administrator and WP:Reviewing#Becoming a reviewer. If you want to create article, you should confirm that the subject should be notable and supported by reliable sources. Thanks. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 14:57, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

Finland - Rape statistics

If there is no concensus on removing a faulty source, then why isn't the source removed to begin with because there obviously was no "concensus" when it was added either! This site and its mods that favor veteran editors over newbie editors are awful! You do realize my IP changes once in a while and I don't bother signing up. On this IP I had an edit on the soccer ball page before this that no one had any problem with. It was a similar ridiculous source where the source itself had already corrected itself yet no one here had noticed. --80.220.107.202 (talk) 04:57, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

I did and he simply wrote that I need to come up with a source to prove that his non-existent source is wrong. That's ridiculous, as my source is his source, which doesn't state the things it has been stated to state. And I did quote the Finnish police's Facebook page, which says something completely opposite to what the "statistic" claims. What more do you want? Hey OccultZone,

I noticed that you approved my creation of the Jacob Rinne English wiki page. Thanks!

When I try to link his page with the Swedish version it tells me there is an "An unexpected error occurred. $1" and then in the Details it says "invalid token". Surely it doesn't cost money to link pages in another language right? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for help. Rupert1904 (talk) 18:17, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

@Rupert1904: What you were actually copying? OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 18:22, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

I clicked on the add links button in the language section, selected Svenska and then typed in his name in the box provided. It found his name/Swedish page and then the unexpected error occurred. Rupert1904 (talk) 18:33, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

@WereSpielChequers: What you think about this ^^ ? It is a bug? OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 17:11, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
  • Greetings to both of you. The English and Swedish articles on Jacob Rinne are now linked so the problem has been resolved. Invalid token in computing terms doesn't mean they don't like or even want your money. It is an error message you sometimes get when two computers fail to talk to each other. So some sort of transient bug, but unless you can repeat it, probably not worth trying to report to bugzilla. ϢereSpielChequers 17:47, 7 September 2014 (UTC)

Sock?

I have reasons to believe that Ipooll7 is a sock of Ravishyam Bangalore. The only edits that Ipoll7 has made are to Talk:Aadhaar and Ravishyam's talk page which was the first edit. Any thoughts?  LeoFrank  Talk 12:48, 18 September 2014 (UTC)

@LeoFrank: There is some difference in their behavior. Ravishyam Banglaore's writings could be considered as WP:ATTACK, he frequently used words like "vandalizing", "corrupt people", etc. Ipoll7's first edit, as seen here on User talk:Ravishyam Bangalore#Please leave it, it appears to be civil. Ipoll7 is just concerned about Aadhaar and its related issues. Thanks for checking the page. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 13:05, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
Well. My doubt is how Ipoll7 landed on Ravishyam's talk page and ended up giving advice on Aadhar. FWIW, Ipoll7 could still be a sock by trying to act different (I have seen such socks ). Ipoll7 could also be a WP:MEAT. Only a CU would be able to confirm this. :)  LeoFrank  Talk 13:11, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
He had been brought there, check Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Bhutes/Archive. Behavioral evidence was compelling, technical investigation made it clear that IPs are not matching. Even then it could be insisted that meat-puppetry may have been carried out. Lets wait, I am sure he will try again. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 13:24, 18 September 2014 (UTC)

Murder of Helen jewett

Hello, Please help, can you or would you kindly answer these questions on your page for the "Murder of Helen Jewett"?

1) What is the masculine youth culture that Cohen describes? Why is it important for her analysis of Jewett’s murder?
2) What role did newspapers play in the narrative?
3) What were the expectations for women during the early 19th century? What were the realities for women in an urban center like Manhattan?
4) What were the different reactions to prostitution? How did they impact the reactions to Helen Jewett’s murder?
5) Why was Helen Jewett’s personal history so fascinating for 19th century readers?
6) What kinds of things did the lawyers focus on during the trial? Why? (Pay attention to things like class and “respectability.”)
7) What was the outcome of the trial? Do you think that the jury came to the right decision? Why do you think they came to the decision they did?
8) What is Cohen’s argument? What kinds of evidence does she rely on to prove it? Is she successful? Why or why not?

There are no spark notes and a few students could use it in women's history classes. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Enr1g (talkcontribs) 14:57, 18 September 2014 (UTC)

Yes WPCleaner is an amazing software. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 00:35, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
Take it with a grain of salt. Each error WPCleaner fixes counts as a hit which is not true for AWB or manual. Latest WPCleaner can now query Checkwiki in realtime to see if article has any new errors. Bgwhite (talk) 04:42, 25 September 2014 (UTC)

Al jadiid supermarket

Hi. I've declined your speedy as it's not nonsense. I've retagged it as spam, however. It's in Somali, and advertises a supermarket very badly. (Doesn't even say where it is...) Anything with lots of w, x and double vowels is likely to be Somali. The x is a hard h sound, so the Prophet is Maxamed in Somali. Peridon (talk) 11:48, 29 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks! I have read the deletion summary. I had thought of A1, but wasn't sure. Just tagged Zgara Korçare "aroma e shijes" with G11, check? OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 13:07, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
That one's Albanian and definitely spam. Nonsense at CSD means things like 'gutfyfthggfcgfgg' which are unpronounceable in any language, or things in English like 'grimly pothole fourteen archaic pasta downflux' which wouldn't even be acceptable to a Surrealist poetry club. You do have to be careful with machine translations. The further from English the language is, the worst it gets. You can usually get enough to tell what's going on, though. Peridon (talk) 15:25, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
Sounds to be right, thanks for the heads up. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 15:30, 29 September 2014 (UTC)

Help with edit

Hi there,You revised the edit I made on https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Arvind_Iyer&action=history .All I did was change counter-intelligence to counterintelligence which is the right term and filmmaker to Film Director and Political Analyst to Counterintelligence analyst which are the right terms. The term Brahmin added to Hindu alongside Religion is an important ethnic identification for Indians. It needs no source ( https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Iyer) the subject's last name identifies his case which in this case is Brahmin. Is it possible for you to change it back?thank you.(Chriswilkins (talk) 03:51, 30 September 2014 (UTC))

@Chriswilkins: Nothing wrong with other counterintelligence, but if you are talking about using the term "Brahmin" for describing him, it will require self confirmation. Furthermore, Brahmin is not a religion, it is a caste. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 04:04, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

What exactly is self confirmation ? How is that information relayed to you? thanks (1.39.2.240 (talk) 08:02, 30 September 2014 (UTC))

You need a source where Arvind Iyer has himself confirmed that he is a Brahmin. Just having a surname is not enough. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 08:05, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

If there is some information that needs to be added to the page, how and where must it be sent? Thanks (1.39.2.240 (talk) 08:11, 30 September 2014 (UTC))

You can write on Talk:Arvind Iyer. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 08:18, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello

Hello, how is it going? Do you remember me? I've learned many things on wikipedia so far. A little question, where can I find the new articles just created? --115ash→(☏) 14:00, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

@115ash: Yes I remember you. You can check Special:NewPagesFeed for finding the newly created articles. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 14:04, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Paolo Budinich may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s and 1 "{}"s likely mistaking one for another. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Astronomy

Resolved

I have a question. Are you sure WikiProject Astronomy tags redirects? Because you did this. And I also want to ask about this importance=redirect. I ve never seen something like this before. -- Magioladitis (talk) 08:15, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

Check Wikipedia:WikiProject Astronomy/Article ratings, this wikiproject accepts the redirects. I had at least 3 of them on my watchlist because I had solved multiple errors of those pages. Later I got to know that some of the users had created many non-notable minor planet pages. Fram redirected each of them to the main article. They cannot be classified as 'stub/low' anymore. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 08:23, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
I did some research. Per Wikipedia:WikiProject_Astronomy/Importance_ratings#Importance_scale the correct importance for redirects would be "NA". -- Magioladitis (talk) 08:24, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
Correct. It is automatically assessed as "NA", even after adding as "redirect".[5] Same with the importance of categories. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 08:33, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
Yes. We have to remove "importance" parameter from all pages in "Redirect" class. -- Magioladitis (talk) 07:33, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
@Magioladitis: |importance=}} should be removed or the parameter should be replaced with |importance=na}} ? OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 15:29, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
It should be removed from redirects in any case to allow auto-detection and auto-set. I will do it probably. Don't bother. -- Magioladitis (talk) 15:39, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

My fingers still hurt but I fixed everything. -- Magioladitis (talk) 23:49, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Duplicated parameter

Check this. -- Magioladitis (talk) 08:17, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for removing blank parameter. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 08:23, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
In fact you added living=no while a blank parameter existed and then you removed the value. I guess this is rare but I reported just in case they are more. -- Magioladitis (talk) 08:26, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
Yes, never happened before or after. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog)

Help

Resolved

How are you doing occultzone? I will be glad if you can fix Olusola Bamidele Oyewole and Ladipo Ayodeji Banjo. I have some challenges with my reflink (tool) since yesterday. I don't mean to put you through that stress and I understand that the burden should be on me. Thanks in anticipation. Wikicology (talk) 16:32, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

@Wikicology: Some pages take long to load, that's why refllinks can't always fill references. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 03:18, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

Consensus

The edits I made were relatively minor. Can you be more specific on your reason for reverting? Kaynow5 (talk) 04:51, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

6 years of marriage is more appropriate. Article is about her, not her husband. Partner parameter should be left empty because it is unclear if Marco was first and only partner. I have also read about Stone, Edward, among others. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 04:58, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
You don't need to say "6 years of marriage" in the introduction. The infobox says the length of the marriage (and considering that their courtship lasted longer than the marriage, that statement leaves some ambiguity). "Best known as the only wife of Elvis Presley" sounds more appropriate to me. Partner parameter should definitely not be left empty, not only because she lived with Marco for 22 years, but because she had a son Navarone with him. Marco was not her first or only partner, she had others (Stone, Edwards) but the argument is that they were more boyfriends than life partners. For example, on Madonna's infobox, the only man listed in the Partner parameter is Carlos Leon (her daughter's father, who she never married). She had other relationships that lasted longer, but the admins don't allow them to be in the infobox. Marco definitely fits the criteria for the partner parameter. Let me know if you agree, I would like to see it changed back. Kaynow5 (talk) 05:07, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
You can write something else for the lead, I have changed the partner parameter for you. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 05:20, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
Thank you. I am glad we were able to resolve this. Kaynow5 (talk) 06:04, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Belated response to your email

I have already apologised via email for not replying sooner, but here are my further comments on the matter.

Firstly, in direct answer to the question you asked, repeatedly unarchiving could be regarded as disruptive, but I can't think of any specific policy violation, except possibly edit-warring, but I think treating it as edit-warring would be unreasonable, under the circumstances.

Although you didn't ask, here are my further thoughts on the matter. Personally, I would have been in favour of giving you another chance. However, there is no reasonable way of reading the discussion as reaching a consensus to restore AWB access, so if I had formally closed the discussion it would have had to be "no consensus to restore AWB". I wondered whether to reopen the discussion by posting a comment myself in support of you, but I thought perhaps that would be unconstructive, as the discussion had been given long enough for a consensus to be reached, there had been no consensus, and there had been a significant amount of opposition, so perhaps it was unconstructive to prolong the matter. I meant to think more about the matter and come to a decision whether to reopen discussion or to close it and come back to it, but I then moved on to other things, and this incident slipped away from my thoughts. When I eventually remembered to come back to the matter, I looked at the discussion at the point in its history where you had just unarchived it for the last time. I re-read it, and rather reluctantly came to the conclusion that I had to close it as "no consensus". When I went to the current version of the page to close the discussion, I found that someone else had already done so. Well, I suppose two of us coming to the same conclusion about closing the discussion at least shows consensus that there was no consensus to restore AWB access.

As I said, I would myself have supported restoration, but I should emphasise that both I and also at least some of the others who supported did so not because we are convinced you are ready to go back to using AWB, but rather because we think you should be given a chance, so that we can see whether you are ready or not. Some of the things you said in the discussion do give reasonable grounds for doubting that you do, and while my own attitude is to give you the benefit of that doubt, I can quite see the point of view of those who opposed.

Once again, sorry for not replying to your email sooner. Whether it is any help to you to read my thoughts on the matter now, after the whole incident is closed, I don't know, but I offer you my thoughts in case they may be helpful. Nomination

You recently nominated someone for a weekly award which I really appreciate. I wonder if you could take the added time and put a little more "meat on the bones". The instructions state: "... with a 100-200 word description of how you think they meet the criteria....." It is suggested that the nominator "describe the tasks and behaviors you feel are worth recognizing, as recipients appreciate hearing it." As you might notice the other nominations are quite lengthy when compared to yours. This request is not meant as a critique and I hope you don't read it as such. Thanks for the nomination and for understanding this request. ```Buster Seven Talk 17:28, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
