Hello, Noseallergy. Thank you for helping to build Wikipedia-- the world's largest free content encyclopedia. I'm sorry, but a page you created  Draft:Anas Anwar Al-Qatefy has been deleted as meeting one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects of articles must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources which are unconnected with the subject and which provide verifiable information. Someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject. Please see WP:CORP for subjects that are groups or companies or organizations. Please see WP:ANYBIO for subjects who are people. Please see Wikipedia:Common sourcing mistakes (notability). Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Adventure is a useful tutorial.

Also, encyclopedia articles must be neutral in tone and not use language that promotes or advocates for a subject, or tries to cast the subject in a favorable light. Please see Information on content and common pitfalls to avoid here and here. Sometimes creators of promotional/advocational content are bewildered that it is considered such. If one has been trained to write such content, or if one has spent some time writing such content, one may simply be blind to non-neutral phrases or styles.

A common assumption is that the prohibition against promotional editing applies only to businesses or organizations. Anything can be promoted, including a person, a non-commercial organization, a point of view, etc.

CV's/resumé's are by their nature promotional. Writing about oneself or any connected subject is discouraged as the connection can make objectivity difficult. Information on avoiding advocational content and common pitfalls is here and here, however be aware that these are not exhaustive.

New article creation can be difficult, but the Article Wizard can help you. The new user tutorial can help you avoid future problems. You can also ask for help at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk, and on IRC chat. Sometimes it is better to first gain experience by fixing and helping maintain existing articles. Wikipedia:Community portal/Opentask contains links to things that badly need doing, if you are so inclined.

You said on the talk page of this draft that you have re-written this article after my first version was speedily deleted. This version has remedied every aspect of promotional or sales language that got it deleted originally. It is up to an admin to decide whether the page is so promotional that it needs to be deleted, but it is just not the case that all of the promotional and sales language has been removed. Phraseology like:
  • Morales's design style seamlessly blends modern aesthetics with functionality, drawing inspiration from design luminaries such as...Her designs feature open concepts, a motif inspired by her experiences in Rome in 1988.
  • Subsequently, she ventured to New York City to delve deeper into her passion.
  • This distinctive educational setting instilled in her the values of critical thinking, independence, and academic excellence, fostering an environment that embraced international diversity rooted in mutual respect and cooperation.
sounds much closer to an advertisement than the kind of neutral, detached language that Wikipedia articles are meant to use. Is it possible you have some kind of personal connection to the subject of the article? This can sometimes explain why people fail to see how their writing is promotional, even when it is evident to others.
In either case, I'd suggest reading some guidance like Words to Watch and WP:EPSTYLE for a fuller understanding of encyclopaedic tone. AntiDionysius (talk) 00:23, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, when you say it is "up to an admin" to decide whether the page is promotional, does that mean that an admin will review it? Are you the admin who made the decision? It is so confusing. Is the page already deleted or is someone else going to review it.
I mimicked nearly EXACTLY the same words and language as several other biographies found in Wikipedia. This is why I am stumped as to what is wrong with this version. All of my word choices are being used on current biographies of several people on Wikipedia.
Please point me to where I can know EXACTLY what needs changing. If I change the wording, will it just be unacceptable due to not enough citations? That was also mentioned on one of the comments from WikiOriginal-9. Please clarify.
Thanks. Noseallergy (talk) 00:35, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, we review any page tagged for Category:Candidates for speedy deletion as spam and decide whether to delete or decline. Best, -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 00:42, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I mean that an admin will review it, yes. Anyone can request speedy deletion (that's me, in this case), but pages are only actually speedily deleted if an administrator (which I am not) is satisfied the page unambiguously meets one of the relevant criteria. Your page has now been deleted; it had not been when you posted your comment, but it has in the time I've been typing mine.
I don't know which pages you were copying from; if indeed you closely mirrored their language, I would be interested to find these pages, as it sounds like they need to be quite seriously edited. Like I said above, I think it would be good if you read guidance like the "Words to Watch" page in the manual of style; the problem with the page, as I saw it, was that almost all of it was phrased in ways that served to promote and editorialise about the subject, rather than describe it dispassionately.
Even if you did rewrite the page using neutral language, it would retain the notability problem that @WikiOriginal-9 mentioned, yes. Being neutrally written and demonstrably notable (through reference to independent sources are two requirements which must both be fulfilled for a page to be on Wikipedia.
