Speedy deletion nomination of File:Dr peter lampe.jpg
A tag has been placed on File:Dr peter lampe.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Question about images
Good morning (it's morning in the US) - are editors allowed to add images to articles if they actually shot the photograph? I'm trying to steer clear of self-cite and COI but I do have several images I want to use in articles and I can't find anything better, and in some cases anything at all. Thanks in advance. Atsme📞📧 13:30, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Atsme: Be sure to familiarize yourself with Wikipedia:Conflict of interest first, and if you feel that you don't have a conflict of interest, and are working to improve the encyclopedia, my advice is to be bold and add the images. If anyone objects, it can be discussed on respective talk pages. North America1000 13:35, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Atsme: Also, check out WP:DISCLOSURE, which provides information about using the
{{connected contributor}}
template on talk pages. North America1000 13:37, 1 October 2015 (UTC)- I like the idea of WP:BOLD. Thank you! I will follow your instructions. I have disclosed photography as one of my areas of expertise on my user page and based on what I've learned from my COINoscopy, I think that's all I'm required to do. I'll also make mention of me being the photog on the respective TPs. It actually seems more like advertising to make such disclosures on the TPs - hey, I shot those pictures! Atsme📞📧 14:05, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, found the guideline we can refer to for future reference: Wikipedia:Image_use_policy#User-created_images - it answers my question. Atsme📞📧 13:59, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Atsme: Oh yeah, there's that too. I was trying to answer your question in terms of potential COI, relative to your initial question above. Happy editing! North America1000 15:46, 2 October 2015 (UTC)

Food articles
- Unrelated, but having seen the DYK two threads up I'm totally making myself Chili mac for dinner tonight. I can always rely on you to find interesting culinary tidbits, Northamerica1000! Yunshui 雲水 14:06, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks Yunshui. Dennis Brown suggested that it be created a short while back, so I went with it. It's more difficult to create new food and drink articles nowadays, because many of them have already been created. But hey, there's always work to expand existing articles. North America1000 14:14, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
- I wouldn't worry; people are always going to come up with new food concepts - have you looked into the as-yet-redlinked Kimchi burger yet? Yunshui 雲水 14:18, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Yunshui: Nice hearing from you; its been awhile. I've never considered Kimchi burger, and I may look into it at a later time (preparing at this time to log out eventually after working on some other stuff). I'm pretty good at finding suitable sources, so if you know of anything that is likely notable, but not in the encyclopedia, feel free to suggest additional new articles here at any time. Yunshui has given you a Kimchi burger to enjoy! Mmm... kimchi... |
- @Yunshui: Kimchi seems like it would add a lot of flavor to a burger, particularly a kimchi that is a bit spicy. Sort of like adding sauerkraut to a hot dog. North America1000 14:34, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

New Coke
Hi NA1K— New Coke was never actually a brand, right? In fact, the company went out of the way not to specifically rebrand it IIRC. It would be a discontinued product, not a brand. Regards, Orange Suede Sofa (talk) 18:34, 2 October 2015 (UTC)

Quick questions..
Hello.. An editor left a note on my talk page regarding my relists yesterday (here). Another admin refuted his comments, but he seem to hold on to his point. I saw NAC and AC on yesterday's log that were done before 168 hours. I too performed a closure yesterday before seeing this. What are your thoughts on this? Should I be waiting for exactly 168 hours for both relists and closure (or) for either one (or) for neither of the two? And do you have any comments on my AfD works (feel completely free)? Thanks and Regards—☮JAaron95 Talk 10:42, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- @JAaron95: I tend to agree that when relisting, if the AfD discussion would end up being on the same AfD log page anyway, then it's acceptable. For example, When relisting a discussion that has four hours before the full 7-day time period has elapsed, and when the discussion would end up being on the same AfD log page, then it's all right. However, my opinion is only about relisting itself. For non-speedy and non-snow discussion closures, the full 7-day period should elapse. Another factor regarding relisting is the amount of time that would be left before a new AfD log page is (automatically) created. Sometimes I wait to relist, rather than relisting at a log page that only has three or four hours left. North America1000 17:09, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. Crystal
clear. Any comments on my work? Regards—☮JAaron95 Talk 18:11, 1 October 2015 (UTC) - Wait a second. Something is not clear.. Could you please explain, 'Same AfD log page'? 'cause when you relist, the discussion gets transcluded the 'current date'.. (Came back after I remembered I didn't understand something) —☮JAaron95 Talk 18:33, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
- @JAaron95: Here's an example:
- Discussion foo began on 10:00 UTC
- If the discussion is relisted 7 days later at 10:01, it ends up on a new AfD log page
- If the discussion is relisted almost, but not quite 7 days later, say at at 8:00, it ends up on the same new AfD log page
- So, the net effect is that the discussion will appear on the same new log page irrespective of whether or not the full 7 days has occurred.

Speedy deletion nomination of African Organization for Standardisation(ARSO)
Hello Northamerica1000,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged African Organization for Standardisation(ARSO) for deletion, because it appears to duplicate an existing Wikipedia article, [[{{{article}}}]].
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Ita140188 (talk) 08:33, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Ita140188: Thanks for the notification. While performing some brief routine page patrolling, I moved African Organization for Standardisation(ARSO) to African Organization for Standardisation to correct title formatting, and then it was later recreated under the same previous title. After I performed further investigation, both copies were unfortunately abject copyright violations, so I have deleted both copies. North America1000 09:10, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
New article question/help
Hi. I need admin help, I think. I approved an article through the AfC process, William Hatcher (politician), which (imho) should have been approved, since the subject was a statewide elected official. What I didn't realize at the time was that the article was written by a COI, which was later revealed by this edit. This editor also added quite a bit to the article which was commentary and non-encyclopedic after the article was moved to the mainspace. I have tagged the article's talk page with the COI template, although I thought there was a place to link to where the COI declaration was, but I couldn't find it. I reverted the edits I think were inappropriate, but would like an uninvolved admin to take a look. Would you mind? Thanks. Onel5969 TT me 23:24, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Onel5969: Your addition of the {{Connected contributor}} template to the talk page should likely suffice, as long as the article's content is presently neutrally-worded. If the article still has problems with COI, or if COI is later interjected, you could add the {{COI}} maintentance template atop the article. However, in my opinion, if COI has been cleaned-up, then the maintenance template is not necessary. I changed the parameter of the Connected contributor template on the talk page to "U1-declared=no", because I have not found any declaration of COI in the article revision history or on the user's page. Another thing you could do if you'd like is to denote changes made to address COI in the article on the article's talk page. North America1000 23:59, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi and thanks for taking a look. The COI declaration was in the link I provided to you above wherein he states "Article Compiled by: James Frank Hatcher III, descendant of William Hatcher (jfhatcher3 AT gmail DOT com)". Although perhaps I am incorrect and being a descendent is not COI?. I'll keep the article on my watchlist for a while, and try to shepherd it along. Onel5969 TT me 00:25, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Onel5969: You had it right. Per WP:DECLARECOI, I have changed the declaration on the talk page template back to "This user has declared a connection". At WP:DECLARECOI, it states "If you become involved in an article where you have a general COI – for example, if you're a family member of an article subject and you make observations on the talk page – you should declare the COI on your user page..." and lower down it states, "Editors with a COI who are not being paid for their contributions should place the {{connected contributor}} template at the top of the talk page of affected articles, and fill it in as follows: {{Connected contributor|User1=InsertUserName |U1-declared=yes}}." While the user has not contributed to the article's talk page, sufficient evidence of COI is there relative to the guideline page. North America1000 00:42, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

This might ...
... tickle your fancy. —ATinySliver/ATalkPage 🖖 08:13, 12 October 2015 (UTC)
- @ATinySliver: Thanks for the link. That's a clever dialogue in the comic strip, with dual punchlines. The squirrel implies that he was aware of the article about the comic strip, but not about the strip's author (the deleted by prod Frank Page (cartoonist). It could also be interpreted that the squirrel is also potentially subtly implying an opinion that the article about the strip named after him was more worthy (with the word "we" in bold). I'm a comic fan, but consensus at the deletion discussion for Bob the Squirrel was for deletion. North America1000 15:11, 12 October 2015 (UTC)
- FWIW, I fully agree; I checked out the reasons for the deletions and and promptly hit Google, where I too could find nothing to adequately support GNG. Still, I figured it was worth passing along a chuckle. —ATinySliver/ATalkPage 🖖 19:43, 12 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for your close
Thank you for your close, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Land of Gorch, and for giving a succinct but thoughtful close explanation.
Much appreciated,

- @Cirt: Thanks. The significant work you performed in expanding the article (and finding source coverage about the topic) is commendable. Cheers, North America1000 01:10, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks very much, that's most appreciated! We just have to impress upon others to expand their search parameters and do the due diligence to not simply search under the exact specific name of the production. For example "Jim Henson" and "Saturday Night Live" or "Henson" and "Gorch" — and not only "The Land of Gorch". :) Thanks very much for your kind words about my Quality improvement efforts, — Cirt (talk) 01:13, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Cirt: Sure. I've often found additional sources by performing various custom searches in addition to those found using the various {{Find sources}} templates. Sometimes a Google search by simply typing the word "News," (with the comma included, without the quotation marks) and then a search term will bring up several additional news articles. See also boolean search. Hey, are you still performing much portal work nowadays? North America1000 02:00, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah, I know all that stuff too. Like I said, I just get disappointed when it seems others don't try hard to do the due diligence, before trying to get something disappeared off Wikipedia, per WP:BEFORE. I still look in at portals from time to time. Right now my main goal is trying to do a ton of GA Reviewing and put a significant dent in the GA Review backlogs. — Cirt (talk) 02:15, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly; your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!
