I have plenty more listed building photos to upload, including blue plaques, but not until 1 September, when the month-long Wiki Loves Monuments starts. When I do, I'll be sure to add images to your list. I have a 14-140 lens for my new(ish) DSLR, so I can get tight shots of most plaques. Edwardx (talk) 23:50, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Please dont touch new classical architecture. We are developing the site and untill we have time to write about every architect we at least put their names with links.
- Please create the articles, with appropriate citations, then list them. The scale of such a project is inherently subjective and too diffuse in scope. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 19:12, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
Look, everyone was fine with the wikipage and it get a lot of visitors just because the collection of classical architects. The page is relativly new and under construction. Let it be and let it be used as a directory. Gradualy it will evolve but removing what brings traffic to it is a very bad idea.

Yehuda Glick
I'm not sure if that's right. The man was certainly prominent enough to have had a page long before this assassination attempt.ShulMaven (talk) 23:56, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
- Certainly, I wouldn't dispute that. But the fact that the bulk of his biography (so far) details and references the assassination attempt shows how much work we have to do. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 00:00, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
- I would like to delete the article I began on Glick's organization, Temple Mount Heritage Foundation. There is simply not sufficient coverage of it independent of the man. A redirect to Yehuda Glick would be useful, but I don't know how to do that.
On the other hand, there is a great deal of material on Glick , his activities, positions, arrests, etc. enough for a page. And the assassination attempt is a story in its own right. Part of a increasing drumbeat of violent attacks in recent weeks that are being called a Silent intifada. And it has already caused authorities to lock down the city with roadblocks searching for the assassin, led to the closure of the Temple Mount tomorrow along with calls for massive marches to the Temple Mount at dawn. I think it is more useful to reinstate the article on the Assassination and build 2 articles. Do merge the Temple Mount Heritage Foundation into Yehuda Glick when you have a moment.ShulMaven (talk) 00:25, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
- Let's wait a few weeks to see what any impact of the attack will be. It is difficult to justify a separate article on his assassination attempt when his own article is so small, such an argument would then made that he is more notable for that event. Work on building his page first. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 00:33, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
- Well, it hasn't taken long for problems to arise from having merges the article about the assassination into the article about the man. The man, according to news reports, is recovering. Problem is that, as I feared, the material about the consequences of the assassination attempt threatens to overwhelm the article about the man. Which, to me, seems unfair to the man. I did attempt to contain the growing domination of the article by assassination-related material by moving some material to an article about tensions in Jerusalem (Silent intifada) but the assassination section continues to grow, today's news cycle has a controversy swirling around Abu Mazen's response to the assassination which someone has already added. In addition, an editor has just removed relevant categories on grounds that : "article about person, not an event". I think it would be simpler to follow the model of articles like Gabrielle Giffords and have a separate article for the assassination attempt.

Greetings, Gareth! If you have a moment would you be so kind as to run a critical eye over my revamping of the MacMillan page? I don't presume to aim at GA, but a solid B class would be a good start till someone more expert in ballet than I chooses to run with it. No rush, of course, but your thoughts and tweakings would be most welcome. Tim riley talk 18:19, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

"'Can you see anything?' it was all I could do to get out the words, 'Yes, wonderful things'.”
A long, long-overdue trip to The Higgins Art Gallery & Museum allowed me sight of the Zodiac Settle, the Red Bed, the Crocker Dressing Table, and the Narcissus Washstand and a pile of other fascinating things. What a wonderful place. I shall add a few pictures to your furniture entries but think we need a few more now. Best regards. KJP1 (talk) 16:53, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

Monaco

- I have now. Gareth E Kegg (talk) 22:51, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
- Cool. So to answer your question, we have Category:Monegasque people, and I think that is better than a list. You're also welcome to create a page about the royal weddings, as there are similar pages for the British royal family--personally, I don't find royalty interesting. However, I am very interested in expanding the Wikipedia coverage of business magnates from Monaco as well as the main streets and buildings. Do you know much about the Pastors? I am especially looking for Jean-Baptiste Pastor's birth and death dates right now, because apparently he moved to Monaco in the 1880s to build the Saint-Charles Church, Monaco, then started J.B. Pastor et fils in 1920. What did he do in the mean time? Did he build more buildings? Then his son Gildo Pastor purchased much of the land of the Larvotto district, which led to the construction of buildings from 1966 onwards. What I am iffy about is, when did JB Pastor die and his son Gildo take over? I have read that one of them built the water infrastructure of Monaco during WWII, supposedly Gildo, but I am not sure (the article from L'express is vague). There are a lot of unknowns, in other words. Are you able to help with this please? I would add that the French Wikipedia has a page about Gildo, but it lacks clear in-line references.Zigzig20s (talk) 04:17, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Category keys on Listed Building articles
Hi Gareth. I'm not sure what you're trying to do with your changes to the category keys to Grade I and II* listed buildings in Barnet, Grade I and II* listed buildings in Barking and Dagenham, Grade I and II* listed buildings in Bexley and Grade I and II* listed buildings in Bromley but the result is that they're now indexed separately from and differently to all the other articles in Category:Lists of listed buildings in England, Category:Grade I listed buildings in London and Category:Grade II* listed buildings in London. Do you mind if I revert your changes? Dave.Dunford (talk) 11:36, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry...I should have left a note! I have always preferred the lists to be listed in the category so they are distinct from the buildings themselves. I find they just clutter the larger category interspersed with buildings. Does that make any sense? Gareth E Kegg (talk) 14:56, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
- I see your point. If you're planning to do the same for all the Listed Building lists for all the boroughs in London, I guess that's OK (though in the interim it leaves Category:Grade I listed buildings in London and Category:Grade II* listed buildings in London looking rather muddled, and the mix of "Grade I listed buildings in..." and "Grade I and II* listed buildings in..." articles puts rather a spanner in the works; they'll still be in a less-than-ideal order even when they're all done). Either way, I don't think it makes sense for Category:Lists of listed buildings in England, which contains no individual buildings, nor ever should have. If you don't mind, I'll revert to the DEFAULTSORT for that category. To declare my interest, I'm gradually working my way through the articles in that list, in alphabetical order, populating them with photos and generally tidying up. Dave.Dunford (talk) 15:37, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for understanding. I will do all the boroughs in one go when I have the time, and I quite agree with your other suggestion. What a pleasure it is working on these lists! Do you fancy going for a 25 strong DYK for Stowe? I have fantasized about it... Gareth E Kegg (talk) 10:51, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

- I expanded it. I will put in a fair use picture of him tomorrow. Philafrenzy (talk) 21:49, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you. Will you help with the other two as well?Zigzig20s (talk) 21:59, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
- Ask me elsewhere, we are trespassing too much on this page. Philafrenzy (talk) 22:03, 28 February 2015 (UTC)

Morning Gareth, hoping you're well. Wanted to let you know - if you didn't already - that Dr. B has put The Tower House up for peer review here [5] as a step towards FA. Would really appreciate your input. All the best. KJP1 (talk) 11:56, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

- Thank you! It's the next generation we should serve as well as the constant and vital now...later on when alone we can wait a little while, dreaming reading the full length foolscap with marmalade and a hot buttered mess or a cold one and dream away castles, rich and wonderful lived lives, pretty jeweled things and sweeping mountain tops and terrifying flights of lived and unlived human horror and the moments of grace when all the world seems cherished by thought or deed. And then you press 'Random article', and the whole cycle starts again... Gareth E Kegg (talk) 20:37, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
- Very wise. Did you know that I am restricted to two comments in a conversation (a great concept if it was fairly distributed), and you said what I would have liked to add better than I could dream of wording? Looking at The Tower House, I understand even less what is going on. More thoughts on Snow Rise, ending with Vision. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:10, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

- Gareth, have you got the Daker's book? They're challenging (weakly) the bit about Mercury's tunic being "powdered with letters." It occurs to me - does this mean letters as in missives, or letters as in A, B, C? KJP1 (talk) 16:24, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
- Well, most of the comments addressed, except a few technical ones the Dr. will pick up. Not too bad at all. We just need more. KJP1 (talk) 18:18, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
- Spoke a little too soon! Do you have Davies's Lost London? I don't and we need the page numbers on the Tower House. KJP1 (talk) 09:52, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Dear Gareth E Kegg, as I already mentioned, I am SO glad that my old research can be of some use. Originally, I wanted to translate the thesis and publish it in the UK but never got round to trying… My mother lives in Wales and I often stop off at Castell Coch on the way to see her - that's the closest I get to Burges these days. I don't know where the stash of research documents concerning the Tower House has got to but I fortunately still have a copy of the thesis. Don't hesitate to put further questions to me, you never know, I may have an answer! Best Cashen1 (talk) 11:04, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
