Copyright problems with Image:Cains_Ballroom_Tulsa.jpg
An image that you uploaded, Image:Cains_Ballroom_Tulsa.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Kelly hi! 19:50, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Image:Cains Ballroom Tulsa.jpg
A tag has been placed on Image:Cains Ballroom Tulsa.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Cains Ballroom Tulsa.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Kelly hi! 21:25, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- I think you may have been the victim of an erroneous notification...the image on the Commons is not the same as the image that was deleted, to the best of my recollection. I think someone may have uploaded a copyvio image on top of the local version of your photo. Sorry for any trouble. Kelly hi! 13:44, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- OK, I looked up the log for the image - it looks like you were the uploader of the local image, but the copy here was different - it came from http://www.flickr.com/photos/strph/112316958/, which apparently doesn't have a license compatible with Wikipedia. (I can't access Flickr from where I am at the moment.) Kelly hi! 13:48, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ahh, ok. Thanks for clarifying.↔NMajdan•talk 19:33, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. I'm guessing that what happened is that the image had a free license when you uploaded it, and then the Flickr user changed the license subsequently. It happens a lot...that's why I'm working now to move our Flickr-sourced images from here to the Commons. Commons has a Flickr license verification scheme so that we're protected even if the license is subsequently changed. I highly recommend that you upload future Flickr images there, and move any of your existing images there whenever you get a chance. Let me know if I can help - I can point you to a handy bot that does all the hard uploading work and image description formatting for you, in addition to verifying the license. Regards - Kelly hi! 19:47, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Update - I had some free time so I went back through your uploads...you didn't have any other Flickr images, but I added a lot of missing fair use rationales and moved some free images to Commons. The only ones I couldn't resolve were the image mentioned below, and Image:Bedlam.jpg needs a fair use rationale because it is a derivative work of copyrighted 3D artwork. (You weren't the original uploader, you had simply reverted someone else's addition of another image with that name. I also notified the original uploader.) Cheers - Kelly hi! 21:17, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Possibly unfree Image:BOK Center-BothRenditions.jpg
An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:BOK Center-BothRenditions.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Kelly hi! 20:22, 22 May 2008 (UTC) --Kelly hi! 20:22, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Seal of Tulsa, OK.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:Seal of Tulsa, OK.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:26, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

1916 Cumberland vs. Georgia Tech football game
You worked on the article 1916 Cumberland vs. Georgia Tech football game. Nice job!
This article needs to have the references placed inline, and a tag has been placed on the article. I'd love to do it myself, but it would be easiest if the original resarchers would take care of it. Thank you very much!--Paul McDonald (talk) 19:00, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Horde95.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Horde95.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

OrphanReferenceFixer: Help on reversion
Hi there! I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. Recently, you reverted my fix to List of Oklahoma Sooners in the NFL Draft.
If you did this because the references should be removed from the article, you have misunderstood the situation. Most likely, the article originally contained both <ref name="foo">...</ref>
and one or more <ref name="foo"/>
referring to it. Someone then removed the <ref name="foo">...</ref>
but left the <ref name="foo"/>
, which results in a big red error in the article. I replaced one of the remaining <ref name="foo"/>
with a copy of the <ref name="foo">...</ref>
; I did not re-insert the reference to where it was deleted, I just replaced one of the remaining instances. What you need to do to fix it is to make sure you remove all instances of the named reference so as to not leave any big red error.
If you reverted because I made an actual mistake, please be sure to also correct any reference errors in the page so I won't come back and make the same mistake again. Hey Nmajdan, I've nominated this template, among others, for deletion. If the template is only used on a single page, its unnecessary, and the table can just be placed in the same section where the template was transcluded. Grsz11 20:39, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
This looks like a page in development rather than one ready for the main article space, so I've moved it under your user space. You may continue to develop it there and move it to the main space once it has been referenced and is generally ready for the main space.--RadioFan (talk) 15:51, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. Actually, after your move, I checked WP:SUBPAGE and it said it was ok for a development subpage to exist on the articles talk page, so I moved the page from my userspace to Talk:Oklahoma Sooners starting quarterbacks/Dev. But thanks for pointing this out to me. I had a couple other dev spaces in article namespace that I have now moved to talk namespace.—NMajdan•talk 16:33, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Big 12 WikiProject
Hi, I've noticed you've been involved in editing Big 12 related articles. I'm trying to gauge the interested in created a Big 12 WikiProject and wondered if you'd like to be involved. There are already pages for WikiProject Big Ten and WikiProject ACC. A Big 12 project would cover the schools themselves and anything to do with conference sports including: events, rivalries, teams, seasons, championships and lore. There is already quite a bit of activity here on Wikipedia regarding the Big 12, and I think a project could help coordinate and unify our efforts. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Big 12 if you are interested, and add your name to the list. Grey Wanderer (talk) 23:43, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Merger proposal for Template:Infobox serial killer and Template:Infobox mass murderer
Hello,
I'm a bit confused by the merger templates placed on the talk pages of the templates mentioned above. Infobox code
Hey, I know you're handy with all the complicated syntax stuff and I was wondering if you could take a look at {{Infobox NCAA Division I FCS season}} and help figure out why the 2010 year won't appear in the infobox when linked from 2009 NCAA Division I FCS football season to 2010 NCAA Division I FCS football season. There is no 2010 FBS season article yet so I'm not sure if the same situation will arise there as well with the FBS box(probably since both templates pretty much use the same code). Unreferenced BLPs
Hello Nmajdan! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 11 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. New Big 12 head coaches on the lists
I'm curious what should be done on the Texas Tech and Kansas head coaches lists. Since both schools now have new head coaches, should the lead be written without any mention of the new coaches since the tables are all "as of the end of the 2009 season" or should they be mentioned in the lead but not in the table?
- That's a good question. I would include them in the lead but out of the main table under after next year.—NMajdan•talk 16:13, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

- One question I did have was the rules for marking Hall of Famers. Are you marking only those that went into the Hall as coaches? Only those that went in as members of the school that the list is for? Or just marking them all no matter what? I ask because KU has had 4 people coach that are in the Hall, but none went in specifically as KU coach, and some are in as players not coaches. Ryan2845 (talk) 22:38, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

- Since that 'Oppose vote came up, I have a feeling this won't pass FL and be merged into Texas Tech Red Raiders men's basketball. I appreciate your review but I feel that any revisions would be in vein if it were to be merged. My whole goal was to get as many Texas Tech lists to FL as possible using existing FLs as templates (ex: your Sooners in the NFL Draft, coaches lists, seasons lists, buildings lists, alumni, presidents, etc). I kinda have no motivation to keep this up if every list after this one is shot down because of size. In that case, there are probably only two lists I could finish. Be careful with your Big 12 football coaches topic because if my nomination is denied on size, your lists are similar in size and they might end up being brought up for reassessment. NThomas (talk) 02:24, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

There will be too many false positives to drop this into AWB general fixes but I can provide you a simple custom module to use with AWB for you do it semi-automatically. Rjwilmsi 21:18, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
- Paste this into the Custom module window (replacing whatever is there) in AWB 5.0.2. You have to fill in what other templates you want it to run on. Per request the module replaces all dashes in the template parameters, which I don't think is quite the right approach: there are false positives on, for example, Adolph Rupp and I know for certain that the
|pages=
parameter in {{cite book}} can contain "7-5" which is "7 section 5" not a range (AWB has specific logic to handle|pages=
anyway). A better approach may be to at least restrict hyphen replacement to matches where the hyphen is between two numbers. I will leave it to you to test the module and get back to me. Rjwilmsi 08:44, 9 April 2010 (UTC)- Ah, in working on this I found a bug in AWB over parameters that themselves contain a smaller template. I have fixed it on rev 6389 but that missed AWB 5.0.2 so until an AWB snapshot comes out numbered >= 6389 then you'll have to be extra careful. Rjwilmsi 10:22, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Your CFB list of head coaches template
I'm working on something on Wikipedia: WikiProject College football, the subsection "Structure" was/is based on the WP:NFL's structure and is a complete mess over there. Considering how well put together your Big 12 Conference football head coaches pages are, is there anyway you can create something for the College football Wikiproject similar to act as a guide similar to what was done with this. Here's where your coaches list guide should go: Wikipedia:WikiProject College football/Head coach lists format. I'm working on a few myself. Since this one is your expertise, I felt it was only right you do it. NThomas (talk) 03:47, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- I created this awhile back. However, I think it is out-of-date. The requirements for FLC are very fluid and dynamic. Next week, I'll work on updating this style guideline. Honestly, the best style guideline is to just look at the most recent lists that have passed FLC. I have two out there right now.—NMajdan•talk 15:52, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Thread at VPM about Webcitation.org bot, and about Wikimedia creating its own archive service
Hi there,
I'm reaching out to people who I see have been previously been active in threads related to Webcitation.org.
I started the above-mentioned thread at VPM, which
- 1) asks how things are going with the webcitation.org bot (because i think it's SUCH A COOL idea), and
- 2) inquires whether WikiMedia should create its own archiving service, to avoid the risks of relying on another organization's services (e.g., the downtimes experienced now).
I hope you'll take a look. user:Agradman editing as 160.39.221.164 (talk) 06:20, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
List of Phi Kappa Psi brothers FLC
Hello, Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Phi Kappa Psi brothers/archive1 was listed 20 days ago, and is now also listed as one of the "nominations urgently needing reviews." So far four reviewers have weighed in. All objections have been met. There are two votes of support, and none opposed. As per The Rambling Man, "typically, although not prescriptively, Dabomb or I will look for around four votes of support." He also suggested that I contact "regular reviewers" such as yourself to see if you would be willing to comment. I'm happy to address constructive criticism. Hopefully upon resolving critiques, if you believe that the list is worthy, you will also grant support. Thanks, NYCRuss ☎ 16:58, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

GA Nomination for BOK Center
On April 22, 2011, I, Jim856796, have nominated the article BOK Center for Good Article status. The reviewer was User:Arsenikk, although he is not from Tulsa and he deals with Norway-related subjects. I checked the page WP:WikiProject Oklahoma/Tulsa and found you name. I checked your contributions, and the last one you made was on May 9, so you may be the only active user working for the Tulsa Task Force, I hope you are available to do something about the GA nomination I made and Arsenikk requested that some corrections be made such as "I would recommend that the sections 'event history', 'notable event facts', and 'concert sellouts' be merged into a single top-level section, and renamed 'events'.". User subpage
I saw that you are part of the Templates wikiproject, and I was wondering, is there a template (or do you have to put one..) for a user subpage that designates it as a personal repository for the user to leave and grab notices (ex. notices telling other people the user is taking a wikibreak). Let me describe the subpage I want to use the template for. Instead of for example trying to remember the exact code, the user just develops the code and keeps it there. Is there a template for that? If so where can I look for the template and similar ones. I was looking everywhere but I couldn't find the page for it. Could you help me out? I know that what I'm describing sounds vague but if you have any questions about what I'm talking about please let me know. Like I said I just want to know on what page I can find a template for the type of user subpage I just described. Thanks! Lighthead (talk) 04:09, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Navbox with collapsible groups
Greetings, Nmajdan.
I'm trying to use some of your old handiwork, the Navbox with collapsible groups, for a HOF that includes 15 separate groups. The navbox instructions say "The template currently supports up to 10 groups/lists but more can be added if needed." After the 11th list/group included, it simply does not display the 12th and subsequent groups/lists. How do we go about adding more groups/lists so that they will display? If you want to see an example of the problem, take a look at the Michigan Wolverines football navbox that uses the template; its 12th group does not presently display. MSU Interview
Dear Nmajdan,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.11.206.39 (talk) 03:37, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Invitation to events in June and July: bot, script, template, and Gadget makers wanted
I invite you to the yearly Berlin hackathon, 1-3 June. Registration is now open. If you need financial assistance or help with visa or hotel, then please register by May 1st and mention it in the registration form.
This is the premier event for the MediaWiki and Wikimedia technical community. We'll be hacking, designing, teaching, and socialising, primarily talking about ResourceLoader and Gadgets (extending functionality with JavaScript), the switch to Lua for templates, Wikidata, and Wikimedia Labs.
We want to bring 100-150 people together, including lots of people who have not attended such events before. User scripts, gadgets, API use, Toolserver, Wikimedia Labs, mobile, structured data, templates -- if you are into any of these things, we want you to come!
I also thought you might want to know about other upcoming events where you can learn more about MediaWiki customization and development, how to best use the web API for bots, and various upcoming features and changes. We'd love to have power users, bot maintainers and writers, and template makers at these events so we can all learn from each other and chat about what needs doing.
Check out the the developers' days preceding Wikimania in July in Washington, DC and our other events.
Best wishes! - Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation's Volunteer Development Coordinator. Please reply on my talk page, here or at mediawiki.org. Sumana Harihareswara, Wikimedia Foundation Volunteer Development Coordinator 00:43, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Proposal for a new useful template
I see that you created the template {{Winning percentage}}
It is one I use a lot and for that I thank you.
However, I realize that 100% of the times I use the template I am using it in a head-coaching record. See Scott_Rueck#Head_Coaching_Record for example.
I don't propose to change the template you created as it is used by itself in many places. However I like to propose a new template which would be helpful in head-coaching records. I'm contacting you because while I have some template editing skills, they are limited and given your involvement with this template it might be easy for you to implement.
First let me explain the problem. When I find an error as I did in the linked record, I have to change the wins and the losses and then change them again in the template. I hate doing the same thing twice when I can get a computer to do it once.
My proposal is to create a template that takes two parameters: wins and losses and outputs wins, –, losses, percentage (in parentheses).
I'll call the template wins losses percentage or WLP for short.
Invoking {{WLP}} would generate:
178–50 (.781)
To beat the point to death, in the current usage, if the coach won a game and lost a game, I would have to change the 178 to 179 in two places and the 50 to 51 in two places. That seems silly. With my proposed template, I could make a change to the 178 and a change to the 50, and the output would be correct.
Do you have any interest in this?
If not do you have any advice? For example, for all I know such a template already exists and I just need to find it. Or perhaps it would create some problem I haven't considered.
Thanks in advance for any feedback you might have. --S Philbrick(Talk) 22:02, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
- I just noticed that {{WLP}} already exists. A small detail. Perhaps {{W L P}}--S Philbrick(Talk) 22:04, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Extended confirmed protection
Hello, Nmajdan. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi Nmajdan.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
