Common units of measurement
Hi,
Thank you for adding a metric conversion to Warrior Rock Light. I am glad that you did that.
You also added the 'lk=on' option to metres and feet. I do not know if you are aware, but wp:overlink says that plain english words, including common units of measurement should not be linked. In a footnote, it gives examples including metre and foot. Such terms are high on the list of frequent links in Wikipedia. It is not a big deal, but I thought I would let you know.
Either way, I am glad that you added a conversion. Keep up the good work. Regards Lightmouse (talk) 10:55, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Ohlhous
If you are into Erie and transfers to the Commons, look at User:Ohlhous/Erie Canal gallery. Howard C. Ohlhous created articles about each lock on the canal - see list on User:Ohlhous. But they got redirected and the images became orphans. -- RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 03:55, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

PARd participants list
As discussed at WT:USRD, the participants list at WP:USRD is being split by state. Since your name has only "PA" next to it, your name has been removed from the large USRD-wide table, and your name has been added to the PA-specific table. This is part of the lengthy process. If this is in error, please let me know immediately. Regards, Rschen7754 (T C) 05:14, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Random picture of the day
Hi, I have noticed that you have made many major edits to the Rpotd.
It has been nominated for deletion (at least the template part of it.)
Since I am no longer maintaining it, would it be OK for all of the pages to go into your userspace so we can get it out of template space?
Or do you have any other comments for the TfD?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks, GM 18:36, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Catholic House
I don't understand whomever this is why you are taking down the section on the Catholic House. Can we talk about this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.180.214.97 (talk • contribs) 18:45, July 17, 2008
- Of course we can discuss it. My reasoning behind removing the Catholic House section are:
- Does not give any indication as to why it is notable.
- Sounds like it was written as a means of promotion
- Does not cite any third-party, verifiable sources. (which would go a long way towards proving notability)
- If all these can be addressed, I won't stand in way of its inclusion (which I would very much like to see happen). Niagara Don't give up the ship 19:44, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Infoboxes
We are nearly finished with the infoboxes/geoboxes. Thanks for getting Fayette and Washington. I am currently working on Westmoreland. Didn't want you to get started only to see that I have begun. Thanks again. Dincher (talk) 22:31, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
- Greene should be a quick one. Westmoreland is going to take forever. My editing on wiki has become less regular. I can really only work on wiki when I am at "work" a part-time job is lots of down time. If you want and have the time feel free to work on the townships of Westmoreland, if not I should be able to complete Westmoreland on Tuesday or Wednesday. Thanks again. Dincher (talk) 23:09, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting Greene. I will finish Westmoreland tomorrow night. I think we should leave Allegheny alone for now, maybe work on it a bit at a time. The maps for it are done. --Dincher (talk) 23:19, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. Ruhrfisch and I are going to begin a drive to get Leonard Harrison State Park up to FA. Any input will be greatly appreciated. I think you stated an interest in improving the Erie area articles. --Dincher (talk) 03:02, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, we'll let you know. I have uploaded some pics from flickr to Commons for Oil Creek State Park. Could you take a look and make sure that they are from the park and not Drake Well Museum? I am pretty sure they are park photos, but flickr info is not always 100% accurate. Dincher (talk) 20:50, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

I asked a friend to check for an obit or other info in Erie, maybe at Blasco Library, maybe at historical society. Did I know he graduated from Oberlin? You've got some exact dates of birth and death; good for you. I'll write them and ask if they have a bio, list of writings, maybe their own obit in their alumni journal, etc. I've had some luck writing to orgs, although Barnard refused to give me details about my grandmother, who attended there during the Wilson administration. Ah, exuberant privacy guard dogs! The bane of a researcher's existence. --Pat (talk) 23:43, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Joseph Lesniewski
Howdy,
I thought that direct page citations were preffered, according to Wikipedia:Verifiability & Wikipedia:Citing sources? If you look at those help pages, and articles large, well-flushed out, articles like Harry S. Truman, you'll see both the book cited in references in general and inline citations with page numbers in footnotes. Of course those are then simplified by just using:
- Author, (book name if author has more than one book), page number (s)
I would like to modify your edit to reflect this general Wikipedia policy. Is that alright?
I am moving this discussion to Talk:Joseph Lesniewski, please reply there. 207.69.137.41 (talk) 22:42, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yes! Direct page citations are preferred. That was mistake on my part. Thanks for catching that! I took the liberty of putting it in for you. Niagara Don't give up the ship 23:05, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

I noticed you joined wp:NRHP and see you have recently worked on articles about places in western NY. Any chance you could take a look at List of NHLs in NY, sort by county, and check out the Erie and Niagara and other western counties? Some of the historic sites need recent, color pics. Anyhow, welcome to NRHP. Feel free to mention your new NRHP articles and your new NRHP pics in the announcement boxes on the main wp:NRHP page, that tends to get helpful attention. WNY&P link removal
I was notified that you removed a link to my website from the WNY&P page. My page covers the former Chautauqua branch of the Pennsylvania Railroad, which was part of the WNY&P. There isn't a whole lot there on the Chautauqua branch, but I think it would be of interest to people looking up the WNY&P. Just curious as to why you removed it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Prrwiki (talk • contribs) 13:58, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Peer review request
Hi Dtbohrer, Dincher and I have Leonard Harrison State Park up for peer review at Wikipedia:Peer review/Leonard Harrison State Park/archive1 and were wondering if you would mind taking a look at it? We appreciate your helpful comments on previous article state park PRs. Our plan is to take it to WP:FAC after peer review. Thanks, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 14:38, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks so much for looking at it and for explaining the bagpipes in Beijing - I will pass along that explanation to MacDui next. One concern we have with Leonard Harrison is that parts of the adjoining Colton Point State Park's history etc. keep sneaking in. Colton Point is another future FA candidate, so the question is to what extent should LHSP be only about itself and to what extent should it mention its sister park across the gorge? For some of the work you are putting in on cleaning up some of the PA legislator pages. normally when you get one or two, its not to hard to handle. But when its a multi-article barrage, its good to know that others are on board. Now if we can only convince the GOP caucus to stop doing cut-n-pastes, life will be easier. I already had to deal with some of the democrats individually. Montco (talk) 20:10, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- I was wondering about the photos. They are the members official photos which should make them public domain as long as they are state property. Of course, the editor has noted on each one that he is the creator of the work and grants the license. Not sure if that's an appropriate rationale unless he is the House photographer. Montco (talk) 20:40, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- As someone else who has been cleaning up PAGOP's recent work, please allow me to interject here. I am pretty well-versed in Image policy around here, and I can tell you that the images are not public domain. Public domain has a very specific meaning within copyright: it is either not eligible for copyright or the copyright has expired. Neither of these apply here. The copyrights for these images are owned by the PA House Caucus, and PAHOUSEGOP can't just add them without some kind of free license given by the owner. I beleive that it is likely that PAHOUSEGOP is an employee of the caucus, but he cannot give effective permission to use these images. He needs to get permission archived via wikipedia's OTRS system. I told him this on his talk page, and he hasn't responded. Unless he does this, the images will be deleted in the future by some busybody editor. Let me know if you have any questions about this. --TheZachMorrisExperience (talk) 02:07, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe we should see about contacting the PA House Republican Caucus and get permission directly. --D.B.talk•contribs 02:19, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- Fair enough. Bad assumption on my part. But not knowing myself, I was content to leave it barring information from someone who may know more. I am not sure of the procedures with images never having uploaded one myself. Therefore, I will defer to Zach's judgment in this case. And Zach, if I haven't said so, thanks to you as well for helping out with this. Good to know there are others trying to fight poli-spam. Montco (talk) 02:41, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- In the next day or two I can send an email to the 4 caucuses to see if they would be willing to release the portrait images. My gut reaction is that they will balk, since (to get a bit technical) they would have to release them under a "free license" allowing almost anything to be done with the pictures, including use in opposition pieces. Plus, they get nothing from the deal, just giving away their property rights in these pictures. But, many people do release their photos, so I will try. Incidentally, I would caution against coming down too hard on PAHOUSEGOP, since he's taking the time to create these pages, of which there are hundreds that still need to be created. Someone's gotta make them at some point, and it is easier to clean up his messes rather than do it from scratch. The longer he does this, the better, in my opinion.--TheZachMorrisExperience (talk) 05:01, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Peer Review Request Lakeside Apartments District, Oakland, California
I'm humbly asking for your considered opinion with my peer review request for the Lakeside Apartments District, Oakland, California page. I've listed this article for peer review because, at present the City of Oakland's Planning Commission and City Council is revising zoning and height regulations for new land development (i.e. skyscrapers) in the neighborhood. Currently, much public attention is focused on this neighborhood in the Hearing Rooms at City Hall down the street, around in the conference tables of local investment banks, and kitchen tables of local activists. Having spent many hours editing it, I'd hope this article reflects a modicum of accuracy and good encyclopedic writing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Critical Chris (talk • contribs) 20:28, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

This massive project is a featured article drive for WP:CITIES, and it involves eighteen of the largest cities in the United States.
