If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Remi Aiyela requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Conflict of Interest policy and disclosure

[edit]

Hi NeutralNigerian! I work on conflict of interest issues here in Wikipedia. Your edits to date seem to be heavily centered on Nigerian business executives. I'm giving you notice of our Conflict of Interest guideline and Terms of Use, and will have some questions for you below.

Information icon Hello, NeutralNigerian. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

Question

[edit]

Wikipedia is a widely-used reference work and managing conflict of interest is essential for ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia and retaining the public's trust in it. As in academia, COI is managed here in two steps - disclosure and a form of peer review.

Disclosure is the most important, and first, step. Would you please let me know if you have any relationship with Black House Media, Adekunle Ayeni, NOGIntelligence, or agencies hired to write about them?

You can reply here - I am watching this page. Once you do, we can take it from there. Thanks in advance for talking! — Brianhe (talk) 15:04, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion

[edit]

Information icon This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident in which you may be involved. Thank you. Brianhe (talk) 15:00, 29 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Brianhe, apologies for this very late response to your comments made over a year ago. Aside a very busy schedule, it took me a long time to figure certain technicalities out on Wikipedia. I'll like to state here I neither have any relationship with any of the subjects above nor have been "hired" to write them. I work in the Nigerian media industry as a freelance journalist where I have extensive coverage of the economy, and its players. It is natural for my writings/articles to tend towards that sector because of my knowledge of that industry. No any inducement informs my writing. Thanks. NeutralNigerian (talk) 12:27, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'll AGF that this is all good to go. If your situation changes, please be advised that the Terms of Service require disclosure of paid editing. Feel free to contact me by a ping or on my talkpage if you have any questions. - Brianhe (talk) 17:52, 2 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Versace1608. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Skales, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Please note that the verifiability policy mandates that unsourced material that has been challenged, such as by a "fact" tag, or by its removal, may not be added back without a reliable, published source being cited for the content, using an inline citation. The cited source must clearly support the material as presented in the article, and the burden is on the person wishing to keep in the disputed material. So if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so, following these requirements! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 03:04, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon

Hello NeutralNigerian. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Titi Akinsanmi, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:NeutralNigerian. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=NeutralNigerian|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Celestina007 (talk) 10:11, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Celestina007 I read about Titi Akinsanmi sometime earlier this year. I feel compelled to write her Wikipedia page. There is no any monetary reward or any benefits whatsoever attached to my efforts. It was written out of the need to populate Wikipedia with woman contents, especially African women. In my judgement, what I did was reportorial based on cyber contents sourced and referenced. The page does not seek to promote the subject for whatever reason, as I had to leave out links that paint her in superlatives. As such, I will appreciate any effort to help clean up any part considered promotional. That aside, I think a veritable system should be put in place to ascertain inducement-inspired contents beyond insinuation of such. I'm a journalist; and the only time I ever saw her was two weeks ago at an event where I took the image used on the page. Neither she or anyone close to her was or is in the know of the page. NeutralNigerian (talk) 10:51, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

funny you should bring up the issue about the image seeing as I never mentioned it. You do realize you aren’t fooling no one right? I’m going ahead to kick the article out of mainspace and would strongly advise you to pass the article through AFC. If i have to warn you about undisclosed paid editing again or observe you creating any shady articles I’m seeing to it that this account you are using to edit currently and your other sock accounts(I know about them) are indef blocked for UPE and NOTHERE reasons. Celestina007 (talk) 11:16, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I also just observed MrsSnoozyTurtle, saw right through you and your futile efforts to WP:GAME the system, one more shady article and you are done editing here. Celestina007 (talk) 11:26, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
