Nari Shakti Puraskar

The Nari Shakti Puraskar is only awarded by the President of India in Delhi. There were likely no awards in 2020 due to the pandemic. The article you've created for Pinky Rajgarhia was awarded a similar sounding award by a non-notable organization (see also Dadasaheb Phalke Award#Similarly named awards). Similarly for Savani Ravindra, she was awarded a similar sounding award by another non-notable organization. Please be careful when adding government awards (for e.g. the awards shown in the refs clearly look different from the govt. ones and make no mention of them being awarded by the GOI). And if the notability factor for the Pinky Rajgarhia article was the Nari Shakti Puraskar then it stands for deletion as she wasn't a recipient of that. Gotitbro (talk) 12:01, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Gotitbro thanks for dropping by that's really interesting, I was working on the assumption that the award ceremony was cancelled due to covid so local groups did the awarding instead. Are you sure of what you are saying? The awards do not look clearly different to me, I agree on the notability question though. Were you able to find a press release about this from the government? Yes, I am pretty clear about this. The official website only lists awards upto 2019, and is still in fact inviting nominations for 2020. A lot of similar sounding awards [to the govt. ones] are created in India by no-name organizations to deliberately create confusion and promote themselves (see WP:DADASAHEB on how the most prominent award in Indian cinema lead to the insertion of numerous dubious awards to wiki). As for how it looks, this is the official award/certificate (which clearly has the Emblem of India on the top of it). Both the awards for Pinky Rajgarhia and especially Savani Ravindra are clearly different. But this is besides the point of them being dubious to the actual awards. Gotitbro Yeah I think you are right, I checked and you have already done the cleanup, nice one. I had seen the Pinky Rajgarhia pic and it was so low quality I thought it could be the "real award" but definitely the Savani Ravindra is very different. Thanks for spotting this! Clara Town

Hi. I noticed you are working on some of the Monrovia articles. I did some edits back in July 2020, trying to bring a bit of order in terms of the governance and demographics of the Liberian capital, some of the main sources used were https://www.lisgis.net/pg_img/Population%202008,%202014%20by%20County,%20District,%20Clan%20and%20Households,%20Liberia%20260914.pdf and the maps of NEC (https://www.necliberia.org/pg_img/Montserrado_Electoral_Districts_14.pdf , change the last number to see the different districts). One of the dilemmas I faced was how to define Clara Town geographically. Clara Town does not seem to exist as an administrative unit, with a number of communities within the Gargloh township potentially part of Clara Town. Central Clara Town I and Central Clara Town II are definitely part of Clara Town, but there would be others as well like Giblata (or Gibraltar) or Struggle Community (flagged as part of Clara Town in the Wikipedia article). --Soman (talk) 17:07, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi Soman thanks for dropping me a line. I was coming to Clara Town seeing it as an informal settlement which probably explains the difficulties you faced in defining it. However I know very little about Monrovia, I'm just going on sources so please change anything I got wrong. If you are interested, I just created Squatting in Liberia. Clara Town across the water

Hmm yes it is confusing, particularly the diagram that makes it look like Clara Town stops at United Nations Drive yet from the image I just added the developments clearly go to the water's edge ... Mujinga (talk) 17:21, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

Actually the 2013 photo doesn't really display Clara Town particularly well, at least if we presume Vai Town and Clara Town are distinct cultural entities. The very southern tip of Bushrod Island is Vai Town. The core area of Clara Town would be east of UN Drive, in the areas within the "Clara Town Rd" on google maps. But whether Struggle Community etc forms part of the cultural concept of Clara Town seems to be quite arbitrary. --Soman (talk) 17:38, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

Soman This is true, sorry I had the image zoomed in to the maxx when looking at it over to the left side but didn't say that. I think what is going on (but would be happy to be corrected) is that there is indeed the "core area" of the officially designated Clara Town and then the informal settlement beside the water (which also bears its name). I had a quick search and turned up this medium article which seems to back this up. Then Struggle Community will be part of this stilted and often flooded community right beside the sea. The image captioned "Dykes, levees .." halfway down the page also shows the officially demarcated Clara Town. Hope that helps!
