File:2011 Ice Dogs.jpg and File:Iron Range Ironheads vs Flyers.png

[edit]

I asked the author of these photos for permission months ago, he gave permission for a commons license... I even then added the conversation to the permission... I now have had him e-mail your OTRS or whatever... he sent an e-mail on the fourth... but yet the Iron Range photo is still up for deletion on the 10th... and now you've thrown a tag on the Ice Dogs photo... as far as I can tell, I've already shown my due diligence in proving to you guys that I didn't somehow steal these photos... could you please rectify this situation, because I cannot due much more here. DMighton (talk) 15:47, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. If you have valid permission from the author/copyright holder attached in the email, please send it to OTRS and any volunteers (or me) can help you (note that the address for permission queue on en.wiki is permissions-en@wikimedia.org). Or you can request for help here. Thanks--Morning Sunshine (talk) 05:57, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Warbird picture from Astonishing X-Men!

[edit]

Picture was uploaded from the comic book cover Astonishing X-Men # 48 (2012), The comic book was purchased by me making me the owner of the comic and the owner of the scanner. Even though it is a marvel character it becomes open access since being purchased and widely available. Gijimu (talk) 00:16, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you owns the book when you purchase it but you can't own the copyright of its content by that way. The license cc-by-sa on this image is totally wrong. Girls' Generation

[edit]

Hi Morning Sunshine, I opened a GA review for Girls' Generation. While it is a very interesting article with a lot of information, it would take a lot of work to bring it up to the GA criteria (WP:WIAGA). I left a few general comments on the review page. I can leave the review open for a week if you like, but honestly, you might want to withdraw the nomination and work on it for a while before trying again. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Mark Arsten (talk) 04:00, 26 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your request for rollback

[edit]

Hi Morning Sunshine. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! v/r - TP 13:41, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. As your edit has been tagged for violating Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, I think it should be reverted. Biography of living person must have a proper source or reference to verify. You must cite a reliable source to prove that your information is true. You may want to read Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners if you don't know how to do. Good luck Morning Sunshine (talk) 02:16, 15 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The infobox only summarises the information already in the article, it doesn't add any new information, so I've put it back. The article itself could do with a source for his date of birth and his career as a player - I don't read Serbian, but it may be in one of the Serb language sources. I can't see it in either of the two Euroleague sources. His coaching career is sourced to the main Euroleague entry. Elen of the Roads (talk) 10:30, 15 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Email

[edit]
  • Hi MS, I received your email. For most communications on Wikipedia it is preferred that we use the user's talk page. Regarding adoption, I say welcome aboard if you want it.
Regarding language use, yours is pretty good but requires copyediting before getting to a GA level (or FA). For general article creation, it's sufficient. As you said, working on Vietnamese actors or singers is certainly a good idea. Many are in poor shape. I work in the same general area (Mostly Indonesian though) and it is generally a fun topic to write about. Assuming you are in the country, you have access to sources that many people don't, such as Vietnamese-language books. It's fine to use foreign-language and offline sources; if it weren't, Chrisye would be stuck a stub.
As for K-Pop, my students love it. I am neutral on the matter, although I must admit the songs are catchy. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:49, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please tag pages for speedty deletion correctly

[edit]

Hi,

Thanks for nominating Russell Roberts Newman College for speedy deletion. Unfortunately, because you marked it for speedy under notability (A7), the article was not deleted immediately. As the article was clearly an attack page, the template you should have used was {{db-attack}}. Attack pages are dealt with immediately, whereas notability pages are usually reviewed by passing administrators on a more "as and when" basis.

For a full list of templates for speedy deletion and the categories they are used with, please see WP:CSD. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Stephen! Coming... 09:35, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I have already known {{db-attack}} template. However, I didn't notice that it's an attack page. Anyway, thank you for letting me know this--Morning Sunshine (talk) 09:38, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Not meaning to be too critical, but the question I have to ask you is why are you tagging articles for deletion if you aren't reading them? If you aren't reading them for content then you won't know if they are valid candidates for speedy deletion. The criteria for notability is very narrow, and does not always apply to short articles. When I originally went to open the article, I was expecting to decline it for speedy deletion, as the title implied it was the name of a school, which cannot be speedily deleted for notability.
As an absolute minimum, before tagging an article for speedy deletion, you need to (a) Be fully aware of the criteria for speedy deletion; (b) Read the article fully, and check any links and references; (b) Check the page history, in case there are earlier versions that are acceptable, and also to see if it has been declined before; (d) Check the talk page for any further information.
Tagging articles without checking them first make extra work for the administrators. More importantly, incorrectly tagging an article by a new contributor can put them off staying with the project, and we lose a potentially great contributor.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Stephen! Coming... 11:58, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There are things that ring a bell with experienced editors who are on 'patrol watch' when an enthusiastic user may be needing some help, so I've been checking through your maintenance work. While every effort by users to maintain the standard of articles is appreciated, and very necessary of course, I feel that perhaps you might wish to take a break from semi admin areas until you are more familiar with policies and guidelines. Page patrolling may seem easy at the outset, but to be done properly, it needs a near-admin knowledge of policies and procedures. For your work on NPP, I thoroughly recommend that you take time off to read WP:N, WP:NPP, WP:CSD, and WP:AfD. Plenty of help is available, so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:55, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm always wary when I come across new users who begin their editing career in meta areas (such NPP, AfD, AIV, ANI, RfA, RfB, etc). It's generally assumed that users who work in those areas will have a very good knowledge of policies and guidelines, and will have consigned the criteria for deletion to memory. I can't see what the interest is in joining an encyclopedia project with out first making substantial contributions to content or creating new articles, because doing so builds not only the articles we need, but also builds a new user's knowledge of how things work here. There's no other advice I can really give you other than to do that, while at the same time reading and learning the pages I linked you to. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 16:07, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. It obviously wasn't vandalism, and you did revert yourself, but I'm just curious to know what happened here. -- Cheers, Riley Huntley talk 22:10, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sincerely sorry for that. Reviewer request page is in my watchlist. My mouse wasn't working properly and I clicked rollback acidentally when checking the list yesterday. So it's just a mistake, however, I will be more careful next time. Regards--Morning Sunshine (talk) 10:28, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed there is a content dispute on Little Audrey. Could you help by getting a discussion started on the article talk page? --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:59, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:The Moon Embracing the Sun poster.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:The Moon Embracing the Sun poster.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hello again. I understand your diff. I know two other example: Nguyễn Du and Nguyễn Dữ. Nguyễn Bình and Nguyễn Bính--Morning Sunshine (talk) 15:00, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks I should have remember Nguyễn Du's near-homonym as I worked on the "strange tales" article. As for Nguyễn Bình ‎and Nguyễn Bính I hadn't heard of the poet, I added new brief bios for both of them. Very helpful. Thank you. In ictu oculi (talk) 16:49, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is this now a clean candidate for moving to Commons based on the permissions granted at OTRS? And can you confirm the CC license type and version? --Lexein (talk) 10:14, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The file is OK now, but I will fix the license, it's cc-by-sa-3.0 not 1.0. Thank you--Morning Sunshine (talk) 15:34, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you - such changes are best coming from OTRS agents. --Lexein (talk) 03:04, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hoang,

Just to let you know that the Featured Picture File:Panorama La Défense.jpg is due to make an appearance as Picture of the Day on January 26, 2013. If you get a chance, you can check and improve the caption at Template:POTD/2013-01-26. howcheng {chat} 17:12, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I/Rschen7754 have removed the nomination from WP:RfA because the candidate has not accepted the nomination yet. I have also restored the request page to stop the "timer" for the same reason. Just FYI. The Anonymouse (talk | contribs) 06:06, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Sexy Love cover.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Sexy Love cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Michaela den (talk) 12:29, 11 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
