Hi - a stub template or category which you created has been nominated for deletion or renaming at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub type, which was not proposed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, does not meet the standard requirements for a stub type, either through being incorrectly named, ambiguously scoped, or through failure to meet standards relating to the current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Please feel free to make any comments at WP:SFD regarding this stub type, and in future, please consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 02:20, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I noticed that you seem to be interested in Arabic cinema. The WikiProject translation has this article on it's to-do list, Syrian director Hatem Ali. If you could help us with translating the page, it would be much appreciated. Regards, De728631 (talk) 15:45, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help! :) De728631 (talk) 15:57, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'm going to structure (and move) the article in a while. If you could just translate the last sentence above the contents box, that would be great. Shukran, so far :) De728631 (talk) 10:35, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it's me again. The translators have found a page about an Iraqi football player, would you be interested in translating Alaa Ahmed for us? We keep getting lots of Arabic pages lately and could need help there. De728631 (talk) 15:09, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Mohamed Magdy! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 52 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

I enjoyed your message:

Very nice idea of course, I have always been thinking of it that way, when you see something broken you should attempt to fix it, before you destroy it completely. Thank you.

Nice to see you onboard.

Here to help articles tagged for rescue!

Hi, Mohamed Magdy, welcome to the Article Rescue Squadron! We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying and rescuing articles that have been tagged for deletion. Every day hundreds of articles are deleted, many rightfully so. But many concern notable subjects and are poorly written, which can be fixed and should not be deleted. We try to help these articles quickly improve and address the concerns of why they are proposed for deletion. This covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated!

If you have any questions, feel free to post a question on the talk page.

It still needs more work of course. From now on, I'll be adding updates there instead of at the article about him. Then, we can update the summary at Mahmoud al-Mabhouh as events develop. Thanks for your help and encouragement. Il ilaqa. Tiamuttalk 22:16, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I'm really eager to update and/or improve the article pretty much, it's just a matter of time. It's 00:44 Cairo time now :)Mohamed Magdy, Thank You! (talk) 22:44, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Its the same time in Nazareth. I'm a bit of a night owl. :) Tiamuttalk 22:47, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nazareth? Are you Israeli?Mohamed Magdy, Thank You! (talk) 22:49, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Not exactly. I'm Palestinian, but Palestinians in Nazareth (and other Arab towns inside the areas conquered by Israel in 1948) hold Israeli IDs. Tiamuttalk 22:51, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hey. I take it you've never met anyone from Filastin 48 before? We're Arabs just like you and just like our brothers and sisters in the West Bank and Gaza. Its just we have Israeli IDs (not by choice, but by virtue of where we ended up after the armistice lines were drawn) and they don't. Get it? Its not easy living under Israeli rule, even as a so-called Israeli citizen. We're not considered part of the Israeli nation, because it defines itself as a Jewish nation (and we are not Jews), and we are viewed with suspicion by other Arabs, because we carry Israeli IDs. The Palestinian Authority also signed away its right to represent us when it entered into Oslo. So we're this kind of forgotten in-between group that no one really knows what to so with. Kind of sucks all around actually. Anyway, just thought I would explain my response further, since you stopped responding. Take care, Tiamuttalk 23:51, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Marhaba. Thanks for the response. Yes, my English is much better than even my Arabic as I spent years studying in North America (and all my university studies were done in English). I don't know Hebrew well because i never studied at the university level here, and my Arabic fusha is not as strong as my colloquial because of studying primarily in English-language schools. Anyway, thanks for writing back. See you at the articles? Tiamuttalk 12:29, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks to you. See you around. Tiamuttalk 18:27, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've missed the article too and I've started a bit on it again after getting your note. I'll try to clean it up a bit as the days go by. Its hard though maintaining it when the information is coming in every day from multiple editors, all using different formatting and adding things without reading the rest of the article. Anyway, thanks for the reminder. Hope you are doing well. Tiamuttalk 19:03, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You reverted my removal of the obnoxious text back to the vandal's version.  :) Woogee (talk) 23:17, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Mabhouh1.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Mabhouh1.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? feydey (talk) 12:17, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Start here Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline. feydey (talk) 12:28, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Looks better, now just fix the source, another wikipedia cannot be the source (as it didn't create the image). feydey (talk) 12:53, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And also "A rationale must be provided for every article any non-free image is used in..." feydey (talk) 12:54, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good enough for me now. feydey (talk) 13:41, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Patrol magazine requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. About latest al-Aqsa developments

[edit]

I think it would be best to add a short paragraph to Al-Aqsa Mosque, rather than to create an article. Another related story that perhaps warrants more coverage is the declaration by Israel of sites in the West Bank as national heritage places of Israelis. That has resulted in clashes in Hebron over Al-Ibrahimi Mosque (Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem was also added). Anyway, its alwasy best to start adding things to existing articles and then if the content grows too large, make a spin-off article. Let me know if you want help with that when you get around to it. The article Khaled Matar has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced BLP wherein the individual does not meet WP:GNG or WP:ENT.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October!

[edit]

Greetings!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.

On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:

  • Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
  • Diversity winner
  • Gender-gap fillers

For further information about the contest, the recognition categories and how to participate, please visit the contest page here. For further inquiries, please leave comments on the contest talkpage or on the main project talkpage. See you around :).--Jamie Tubers (talk) 00:50, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
